Matt Damon got into the best shape of his life at 45 years old!
This man is impressive. But, hey, we’ve seen him in SuperHuman shape before.
I’m going to repeat his age when we go over his stats, but at the time of this post he’s now 46 years old! We’ve seen some other badasses transform over 40 as well. Guys like Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Ben Affleck (Batman), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), and even others over 40 who continuously push the limits (like Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson).
And now for some fun stats.

Height: 5’10
Weight (approximate): 185
Age: 46
So, Damon is of an average build, not incredibly tall like Thor (Chris Hemsworth) or Aquaman (Jason Momoa), but not quite as short as me, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Zac Efron.
Did anyone notice that this time I used the superhero name and then the actor in the parentheses?
Just trying to keep you on your toes.
Damon’s trainer tells us in Mens Health:
“They wanted him to look like a badass with his shirt off,” He says. “Lean and mean.”
Well, I think he did a pretty good job with him.

Matt Damon Diet and Nutrition
Matt Damon really loves chicken and tacos.
Actually, he tells Delish.com that he lost over 50 lbs by eating almost strictly chicken breast!
He says:
“I think the most challenging role that I’ve ever had, was when I did Courage Under Fire and I had to lose all the weight that I lost on my own,” he said. “That was the most physically challenging did I’ve ever had to do in my life. I weigh probably 190 pounds right now, and I weighed 139 in that movie, and that is not a natural weight for me and not a happy weight for me even when I was 25.”
And he continues by saying:
“I had to run about 13 miles a day, which wasn’t even the hard part. The hard part was the diet,” he said. “All I ate was chicken breast. It’s not like I had a chef or anything, I just made it up and did what I thought I had to do. I just made it up and that was incredibly challenging.”
I’m not going to make you run 13 miles a day, but if you’re looking for crazy weight loss like this (although I don’t recommend it), I suppose that’s one way to go about it!
The conversation continues regarding Damon’s love for tacos and he then even discusses how he’s indifferent to whether or not hot dogs are actually sandwiches:
After one fan asked what the ingredients of his ideal taco where, Damon was taken back for a minute. “Oh my god. Fantastic question,” he wrote. Then he admitted that the quintessential taco is one he’s not supposed to have, the one he makes on taco night at his house.
“It’s the crunchy corn shell with the good meat, just ground beef in there,” he wrote. “It’s all about the layering. The meats gotta be hot, and the cheese goes on first so that it melts. And then you’re gonna get in there with a little bit of tomato and lettuce but not too much cause it’s not a salad, it’s a taco, and then you’re gonna throw some avocado on top and some sour cream.
Basically, Damon eats intuitively for the most part, but then when he has an upcoming role he adapts to that character and changes it up to specifically become him.

Matt Damon Workout Routine Research
Matt Damon’s trainer, who we saw a quote from earlier, also worked to get him Superhero Jacked for his movie Elysium (which is also the body Damon shows off in the first picture in this article).
Business Insider tells us:
Damon has continued to work with Walsh because of his training methods, which are dedicated more to creating an athletic physique than getting super-buff.
I think many of us can dig that!
And more from Walsh on Damon’s workout routine continues with:
“My biggest thing with Matt is making sure his foundation is solid, and that means he has mobility, flexibility, and overall strength,”
AND
“I just kicked the s— out of him without breaking him,”
I happen to really like the second quote for some reason.
And, ending with a big one that I think we can all take a second to recognize the importance of:
“He worked his a– off,” Walsh said. “A lot of people don’t know what it’s like to work that hard and work that long, we had been working out for a year and a half straight! I’m really proud of him.”
