First and foremost, let’s go over some of the Nerd Universes that we can choose from. Â
These aren’t all of them, of course, but they are a few that we can analyze to give you an idea of why we’re doing this.
Marvel and DC Universe
These are probably the most obvious choices, and grouping them together might be controversial, but it also makes things easy. Â I’m not going to go through and list the different universes, because that’s really not the point, but this is a good starting point for our Nerd Universe list.
Dragon Ball Z Universe
Now let me just start by also saying: this list is in no particular order. Â But, Dragon Ball Z does feel fitting to list second, just based on the amount of training they do within their universe.
But hey, training is one thing in the show, but it’s not EVERYTHING that we’re looking for in this example. Â We’re going to choose our Nerd Universe for a specific reason, but we’re choosing the one that resonates with us the most. Â That will allow us to connect and work the best with the example that we’re building in this article.
And, yes I’m not getting to the point on purpose…
Star Wars Universe
Lord of the Rings Universe: Middle-Earth
Harry Potter World
For all you magicians like myself, this could be a choice as well. Â We’re all nerds here, and all Universes and Worlds are open for this!
Game of Thrones Universe: Westeros and beyond
Last, but certainly not least, Game of Thrones. Â And, like I said, (I’ll make sure to repeat it so I don’t get eaten alive in the comments), this is not ALL of the Nerd Universes we can use, but some to give you an idea of what we’re choosing from.
What in the heck am I getting at?
Oh, don’t worry people, don’t worry. We’re moving onto more of the fun stuff.
Although, naming all those awesome Nerd Universes was really fun too…
Here’s what we’re going to do:
- Step One: Choose your favorite Nerd Universe from the list.
- Step Two: Keep Reading (oh god I’m dragging this out, but I want to tell a story first…)
- Step Three: Utilize the motivation and unleash your inner hero
Simple enough, right?
Story Time
We’re finally at the point here, people!
In a land far far away there was a kid named Mike.
Well, that’s how I wish my story starts…Actually, that’s precisely the point of the real story!
My entire life I wanted to be a hero.  Regardless of if that meant a Superhero, a Wizard, Jedi, Saiyan, or badass Sword Fighting Hero in a land like Mordor or Westeros; it didn’t matter.  It still doesn’t, actually.
I want my story to like that, and lead to me being one of those choices. Â I mean, it makes sense, I’m literally writing a Nerd Universe motivational story on a site called Superhero Jacked devoted to letting people unleash their inner hero, using the tagline “I came over from The Dark Side”….
Alright alright, not getting sidetracked here.
Now, do me a favor and continue picturing yourself in your chosen land. Â Keep it.
From that point in my story I continue to dream, and beg my dreams to never end, hoping to eventually wake up in a reality of one of these vast Nerd Universes.
The reason I do this is because I truly believe it would be so much more awesome and easy to focus all my time and energy into training like one of the heroes from these Universes.
Can any of you agree with that?
I think to myself “If only I was training to be a Jedi! Â I would put all my time and energy into being the absolute best!!!”, and I replicate that quote and thought for each Universe.
But, then I get to thinking some more…
Why don’t we do that in our own story? Â Why can’t we be the same hero we would be in Harry Potter’s Universe? Â Regardless of if that’s becoming the next J.K. Rowling, greatest athlete of all time, or anything else we strive to achieve: the same type of time, work and commitment goes into it.
So, here’s what I want you to do for Step Two:
- Pretend your life is now the Nerd Universe you chose here.
- Start living like you’re the hero of that world.
- Make the same commitments and use the same time and energy into creating an awesome life to become just as freakin’ amazing as you would be there.
But, Mike, I’m Not In That Universe…(dummy!)
What if this is your Superhero story (because it is…)? Â What if you continue to go throughout life as if someone out there in another universe is reading a nerd-awesome story of YOU!?
Don’t you want it to be awesome?
Step three was a little vague, but we’ll go a bit more into detail (even though I don’t think it’s absolutely needed).
So, here’s some of the things I need you to do:
- Use your imagination and own your new universe
- Train and live like you’re a Superhero (or Jedi, Wizard, Saiyan, etc.) … because you are!
- Create daily, weekly, monthly, and long term goals for yourself.
- Track your progress and let people know about it (whether that’s just friends and family, or even joining a group of other SuperHumans like within The Superhero Academy)
And, finally, unleash your inner hero.
Adopt this new outlook on your life, and all of a sudden things become more clear. Â We can still play video games that allow us to put hours and hours into leveling up or fictional characters, and we can still cosplay our favorite heroes, but while we’re doing this we need to think about living our own life as a hero – because that’s what we’re doing here.
