I don't think I'll be continuing The Witcher Series.
It's unforunate, but the more we move along with The Mortal Engines Series the more I love it, and while I'm reading The Witcher I'm yearning to continue either Mortal Engines or The Throne of Glass series; which I also love.
During this book I literally was reading Children of Blood and Bone just to keep myself sane because it's so slow and the chapters are just so long.
Don't get me wrong: it's an awesome epic and it reminds me, at times, of Lord of The Rings...but it just isn't completely what I'm looking for at the moment.
And I just don't think it fits my reading style, either.

The last book, Time of Contempt, I gave a 4/5 knowing that I was enjoying the "Epic" portion, and to be honest, the genre that it fits into (like an LOTR/Game of Thrones type), PLUS, I really am looking forward to the TV Series on Netflix with Henry Cavill - so I wanted to be able to continue through.
But...what can I tell yah....
We basically went back to the very slow moving story, including a very slow moving trip to Nilfgaard (and I'm not just saying I thought it was slow...it was literally slow in the book too..even ask Geralt)!
And we were also right back to the meetings and long, thorough conversations with a bunch of different characters that felt like filler (I complained about this last time as well).
I'm all about the politics and all about where the story-line is going...it's just taking too long to get here.
It felt like this one didn't even have much plot development, and there was very little inclusion of Ciri, which also kind of killed it for me.
This might just be hard criticism for this one because it's been building up for the series being slow, and/or it might have something to do with the quick moving Mortal Engines/Throne of Glass series I'm reading as well - but either way I'll need to take a break from this one.
I'm curious to see what you guys have to think!
My next/current reads will be/are Children of Blood and Bone (currently reading), The Handmaid's Tale (currently reading/listening to on Audible), and starting Infernal Devices (Mortal Engines Book 3) if you'd like to keep up with what I'm reading.

Review Conclusion
Overall fun read. Loved Loki's portrayal, and I love Norse Mythology. I had a love hate relationship with the short story format. It made it a fun and quick read, but I also don't really like the format. Also generally prefer brand new world building and deeper, lengthier character building.
