Jennifer Aniston spent most of her life utilizing yoga and running with the occasional SPIN or Pilates class.
Now she has stepped it up a notch and decided to work with a celebrity trainer that has completely transformed her training schedule.
Actually, Aniston’s complete change in training method is a big case study in my book Superhuman Secrets, and something that is extremely inspiring for older women who think they may not be able to step it up a notch and take on programs like our Superhuman System, for example.
In our original Jennifer Aniston Workout Routine and Diet Plan we learned all about Aniston’s yoga training, running, and even had a full share from some sources on an example yoga workout she has utilized.
Now we’re flipping the switch and moving into circuit style training and even mixed martial arts for some high intensity interval training to really burn the fat and step it up a notch!
Her new trainer Leyon Azubuike, who is also co-owner of Gloveworx, tells Women’s Health:
Jen works out up to seven days a week for an hour and a half each session, depending on where they are in her training cycle.
We also go on to learn:
Azubuike uses a training technique called “periodization” with Jen, meaning that he breaks their workout plans into phases that could include weekly, monthly, or yearly training programs. This allows him to adjust things based on her schedule. So, her workouts vary anywhere from three days a week at 45 minute sessions to those monster seven-workout weeks. “Where we are in a cycle dictates the duration and intensity of Jen’s workout,” he says. “If I know Jen isn’t filming anything, it’s a different phase than if I know she’s going to be walking up to receive an award—I’m not going to destroy her legs in the gym the day before.”
They also talk about how she wakes up early for the sessions, even if that means waking up before a shoot at 3 in the morning!
From there we also learn a few other things we’ll be using to build and share this routine:
- Aniston loves trainer her abs.Â
- Women’s Health shares her go-to plank sequence that you’ll find below as well.
- They change up her routine often.
- They’re big on resistance bands, jumping rope, and even some strength training, but they’re constantly switching it up and doing new things to keep it fun and never dull. This is extremely similar to what we’ve used as inspiration for our Superhuman System.
- Jen hated jumping rope at first, but she pushed through and now she’s great at them.
So we’re going to be getting a circuit workout for Aniston based on the training she does with Azubuike, and I’ll also be sharing her go-to plank routine in our next article!
