Our sleep is extremely important to allow us to both recover and also perform at optimal levels.
Growth actually happens during recovery, so if you don't allow your muscles to recover they can never fully repair and then that next workout is actually near useless!
When we workout we're tearing out muscles and breaking down muscle fibers, which is one of the reasons we always shoot for progressive overload and fatigue in our workouts and why we use specific scaling within our Superhuman System and our Upgrade Tool within our Academy.
If we don't take rest days and we don't get proper sleep the recovery process won't happen.
The same goes for improper sleep.
If you want to get the best night sleep possible, it's likely something you're going to need to put at least a little effort into.
That may be as simple as sticking to a schedule, but it also might mean adding in some ways to make consistent improvement.
The following list is made up of the top tech options for tracking and improving your sleep to do just that.
Of course supplements can also help, and you might even find some use out of some other gear and equipment I recommend, but these are things that I've used or tried that have made a big difference (unless otherwise noted).
THE BEST TECH TO IMPROVE SLEEP
Philips SmartSleep Wake-Up Light Therapy Alarm
$39
I'm starting us off with this one because for me personally it's a double whammy. Not only does this improve my sleep by slowly waking me up (rather than abruptly), but it also allows me to sleep with blackout shades without having to worry about it being SOOOO hard to get out of bed.
Sound+Sleep High Fidelity Sleep Sound Machine
$79
Now I'm not personally someone who has benefited from a sound machine, but this one has the most recommendations out of the majority of the sleep tech I was finding and it's also highly ranked on it's reviews; which leads me to believe many of you will appreciate this one.
Dodow - Sleep Aid Device
$59
Dodow now has over 500,000 users and incredible reviews. It uses a light system that teaches you how to fall asleep naturally, without the need for any medicine to help you out.
Sound Oasis The Illumy GTS-3000
$99
This one is SO COOL. The Illumy GTS-3000 uses the same light technology developed by NASA to help improve your sleep.
At bedtime, ILLUMY provides a gradual dimming “sunset” to nudge you into sleep. In the morning, ILLUMY will automatically start illuminating a “blue sky” before your set alarm time. This scientifically proven regimen is used on the international space station to help astronauts’ body clocks stay in sync.
Smart Watch Technology for Sleep Tracking
$99-499
You can actually checkout all my recommendations for fitness tracking watches, but I linked this one to Fitbit Versa 2 because I think it's a great all around watch that also specifically puts focus on sleep tracking and is quite budget friendly.
Calm.com Sleep and Meditation App
$0-14
Calm is the go-to sleep and meditation app, so it's a definite option for helping with your sleep.
I am not affiliated with them in any way, but I do have a subscription and love to use it daily.
That’s a wrap.
