Obviously celeb meal plans are ever-changing just like the workout routines we see from them inside our Workout Database, but hearing them and using them as a basis to form our own nutrition plan can be extremely helpful.
And, like the celebrity workout routines we’re also consistently going in (daily, actually) updating our nutrition research as well, similar to what I do in my book.
Speaking of which: Selena Gomez was actually a big case study being that she believes in indulgences and living in moderation, while still showing off an incredible physique and overall healthy lifestyle.
Basically, Selena Gomez gets it.
In our original Selena Gomez Workout Routine and Diet Plan article we used a couple sources to go over some of her dietary beliefs and habits.
First off, she tells Cosmopolitan this:
“I want to live my life like a French person,” Amy said. “I don’t believe in denying yourself, but I also believe in moderation. Life is too short not to enjoy food.”
This is why our SHJ Nutrition System is built around indulgences and “built in” cheat meals for sustainability.
The interview goes on to discuss more about Gomez’s eating habits.
She also discusses switching from fast food to whole food:
Switch from fast food to whole food. About that: Selena speaks with pride about eating like she’s from Texas. “She loves Tex-Mex and fast food that I would normally not condone,” Amy said. “I will walk onto the tour bus and smell fast food, throw it in the trash, and hand her a carrot and hummus.” Changing Selena’s eating habits has helped a lot in shaping her physique, Amy said. “She responds really quickly. We’ll do barely any ab exercises and two days later, I’m like, ‘Whoa!’”
This is followed up
And in an interview with Byrdie Rosoff, Gomez’s trainer, states:
“I am all about focusing on good-quality fresh ingredients. Real food is so much yummier than something that comes out of a box or bag. I recommend going to your local farmers market or trying to buy organic veggies and fruits and hormone-free/grass-fed meat at the grocery store,” she says. “I personally think learning a few basic skills in the kitchen is super beneficial to your waistline. When you know what goes into your food you are more likely going to make better choices.”
From there I also shared a sample diet plan that Gomez gave to Cosmo, but I’ll save that completely broken down below.
The important thing to take from this one is that you should live life in moderation like Gomez.
Think of it as an 80/20 Method of dieting.
Indulgences and “cheat meals” are fine in moderation. Stick to the plan and be great the majority of the time.
