This isn’t the first time we’ve had Hafþór Björnsson here at SHJ.
If you don’t know who he is, Hafþór Björnsson is an Icelandic strongman who has won competitions such as the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man and The World’s Strongest Man (all in the same year).
He also is most known for his role as The Mountain (Gregor Clegane) in Game of Thrones!
We’ve seen a full article on Hafþór Björnsson’s Workout Routine and Diet for his strongman training, and now we’re back for an ab workout that he shared with Men’s Health that he used for his boxing training.
In the video with MH he explains the transition from Strongman to Boxer; Bjornsson says:
I used to compete in Strongman for more than a decade. I won everything there is to win.
He then goes on to list off some of those competitions I mentioned above, and tells us that he’s now doing boxing.
He takes us through some of the warm up with jumping rope (which we love), and then eventually gets into some sparring.

Bjornsson goes on to say:
“I’ve been working on everything. My boxing ability, my boxing IQ, you know my combinations, everything. There is not one thing I haven’t been working on. If there is one thing that people sometimes compliment me on it’s my footwork. It’s good for a beginner.”
He then goes on to continue with his sparring and foot work training.
While breaking down the full warm up and boxing he also gives us a look inside his ab workout.
He does mention the fact that he switches this up, but this gives us a great look at what his overall ab and core work looks like – and I’ll be breaking down the whole thing for us below.
