You ever hear the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Well, it doesn't exactly apply here, BUT, I'm still sticking to the theme we've been going strong with for our new Anime Recipes and bringing in another Demon Slayer Inspired Recipe.
This time we're going all the way back to episode one!
Anime: Demon Slayer
Inspiration: In Episode 1 when Tanjiro was going back to the mountain a man named Mr. Saburo told him not to go and offered for him to stay at his house. He even fed Tanjiro an amazing meal, which happened to be Takikomi Gohan!

Demon Slayer Inspired Workouts
INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups short-grain white rice (480g/1 lb. 1oz.)
- 4 dried shiitake mushrooms
- 1-2 pieces of kombu
- 1 tablespoon kombu dashi
- 3 tablespoons sake
- 100g chicken breasts
- 1sheet thin deep- fried tofu
- 100g carrots
- 2 tablespoons Kikkoman soy sauce
- 1⁄3 teaspoon salt
- 40g green peas (fresh, froze or canned)
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash the rice and let drain in a colander for 30 minutes before switching it over to a pot.
- Soak the mushrooms in 1-1/2 C lukewarm water for 20 minutes to soften. Remove the stems and thinly slice the caps.
- Keep an extra cup of the soaking water.
- Add the extra water, dashi (cups and 1 tablespoon) and sake to the rice and let it sit for another 30 minutes.
- Cut the chicken into small bite-size pieces.
- Soak the thin deep-fried tofu sheet with boiling water to remove excess oil.
- Cut the tofu in half, then continue to thinly slice.
- Cut your carrots into thin, 3 cm long sticks.
- Before cooking the rice, add the chicken and other ingredients, except for peas.
- Cook the rice as usual in the rice cooker.
- Gently mix in the peas after the rice is finished cooking.
