CC Sabathia is actually going to be one of the first Major League Baseball players we see here at SHJ.
As you’d imagine, some athletes have very diversified training, so we don’t see them A LOT, but they definitely will make their way into our Workout Database from time to time.
We happen to get a lot of fighters, WWE stars, and even a few football players as well.
In case you didn’t know: CC Sabathia retired from the MLB and has now dropped a ton of weight to get JACKED.
He recently hopped on a video for Men’s Health with his trainer Dave Paladino to share some information about his training regime that we’ll now be breaking down a bit more here.
Right off the bat CC tells us about how much weight he’s been able to drop.
He says:
“So at my peak I was 342 and now I’m sitting from 280 to 285.”
That’s some serious weight loss!
You can tell as he wears his tank top that his arms look huge and his biceps vascularity has completely changed with the overall aesthetic of his physique and appearance.
To start off the video after a bit of a transition into some of his awesome pitching recap, Sabathia continues to talk about his weight loss:
“What’s up everybody, it’s CC Sabathia here – retired baseball player – I’m here with my trainer Dave Paladino. I’m here to talk to you guys about my transformation and how important working out is to me now. I was 342 was my heaviest – and every time I would get that high or you know being in the 330s I would just think that like man there’s no way I could live like this. There’s no way I can see 50, 60 years old, you know hypertension, heart disease, all those things run in my family and then having the heart problem in 2018 – he was the one that actually sent me to the hospital.” (CC points to Paladino)
From there CC tells us a bit about his experience with his heart issues that were stemming from his weight:
“He was like bro you’re white, you need to go get checked out. Went in, I did a stress test. I could get through it. I was like 2 minutes into the stress test and they were like we gotta put this in your arm.”
From there he goes on to talk a little more about working from there, but he says this was always the plan, to drop the weight and get healthier.
He’s training with Paladino six days a week and he said his workouts are pretty planned and can get pretty heavy.
That’s what we’ll be working through below!
