The Flash is currently one of the most widely watched superhero show on The CW since Arrow ended, this season averaging 820k viewers compared to Supergirl’s and Batwoman’s ratings (597k and 495k respectively).
The Flash has featured some of the most iconic characters to date including Gorilla Grodd, Reverse Flash, Mirror Master, and Captain Cold to name a few.
With the multitude of heroes and villains that have been featured on the show, it’s hard for anyone to rank only ten in a single list. Some characters on this Top 10 List will have a few characters that were previously included in The Most Popular Arrowverse characters, but we’ve included a few new characters from The Flash’s latest seasons too!
Honestly, though, this list was FAR harder to create because in a show like The Flash, there are so many different characters that you can love at first sight, and some that you can grow to love the more you watch the show.
The characters on the top ten deserve their slot, but keep in mind that fans are sometimes fickle when it comes to their favorite characters and some of these may end up being booted out in future lists we may put out.
For this list, I based my rankings on rankings from other sites like CBR, Screenrant, and Ranker. These ten characters were the most often featured in those lists. Some of the more popular characters like Barry Allen/The Flash and Iris West already have their respective character workouts on Superhero Jacked and you can check out those out by clicking on this link right here.

TOP 10 MOST POPULAR FLASH CHARACTERS
Number Ten: Eobard Thawne aka Reverse Flash
Hero or Villain: Villain
Ability: Super Speed
Starting off our list of The Most Popular Flash Characters of All Time we have the Flash’s arch-nemesis: Eobard Thawne aka The Reverse Flash!
I mean, who better to rival the Flash, who draws from the Positive Speed Force, than the man who draws from the Negative Speed Force?
Thawne is a speedster from the future where Barry is already an established hero. He travels to the past to kill Barry but instead ends up killing his mother, and gets stranded in the past. He takes up the guise of a scientist to stay hidden in plain sight and watch over how Barry grows up. Later, he orchestrates the particle accelerator explosion that gifts Barry with his super speed.

Number Nine: Harrison Wells
Hero or Villain: Hero
Coming in at number nine on the list of the Most Popular Flash characters of all time is the man behind the success of S.T.A.R. LABS, Harrison Wells!
Wells is a genius scientist and the founder of S.T.A.R. LABS. He is responsible for the creation of the particle accelerator, a machine that takes two atoms and propels them at accelerated speeds to cause a collision and the destruction of the atoms that scientists can study and observe. He is directly responsible for The Flash as well as a host of other meta-humans that got their powers because of the explosion.
While it is revealed that the first Wells in The Flash was actually Eobard Thawne, other iterations of him have surfaced from the different Earths. The Flash team has encountered Adventurer Nash Wells, Scientist Harry Wells from Earth 2, Detective Sherloque Wells, and H.R. Wells a failed author from Earth-19, to name a few.Â
These versions of Harrison Wells, or as Cisco Ramon calls them “The Council of Wells” (an homage to the Council of the Ring), have assisted Barry on numerous occasions and have helped Team Flash solve their most pressing issues in times of crises.

Number Eight: Allegra Garcia
Hero or Villain: Hero
Ability: Ultraviolet Light Emission
At number eight among the most popular Flash characters of all time is a newbie to Team Flash – Allegra Garcia.
Allegra is a budding reporter at The Central City Citizen, Iris’ online newspaper. She first appears as a guest character in Season 6, but is made a series regular in Season 7. She was incarcerated in Iron Heights for being in a gang, but was later let out with the help of DA Cecile Horton.
She later joins Team Flash in investigating the crimes of her cousin, with whom she shares the meta-human ability to emit ultraviolet light. In Season 7, she does her best to save her cousin and exhibits an increase in her meta-abilities.
Do you agree with Orochimaru’s placement in the top ten or would you push him down to the honorable mentions and bring someone else up into his slot?

Number Seven: Ralph Dibny
Hero or Villain: Hero
Next up among our most popular Flash characters of all time is Ralph Dibny!
While there are some characters on this list whose positions on it are debatable, I think Ralph’s slot is perfect. There might be characters that could replace him in the future as the show continues, but at this point in time, I think Ralph deserves his spot. Ralph Dibny was an ex-cop of the CCPD. We first meet him as Team Flash races to stop other new meta-humans from being taken by Clifford Devoe in Season 5.
He later joins Team Flash and becomes the hero Elongated Man. When Barry gets locked up in Iron Heights for the alleged murder of Clifford Devoe, he announces as The Flash that Ralph would be the hero in his absence.

Number Six: Iris West-Allen
Hero or Villain: Hero
In sixth place, we have the reason that The Flash continues to fight for justice, and the love of Barry Allen’s life – his wife, Iris West-Allen.
Iris has always wanted to be journalist, first working as a fledgling reporter for CCPN (Central City Picture News) before becoming a freelance agent later on, and eventually creating The Central City Citizen, her online news website. She has been the rock that grounds Barry and his most steadfast believer and supporter. As Barry puts it, “There is no Flash without you.”
Now, Iris not only coordinates Team Flash and The Citizen, but she sometimes goes out in the field to give her husband support should he need it. To put a little cherry on top, Iris even becomes a speedster for a time to help save Central City, thanks to the Speed Force.

Number Five: Caitlin Snow
Hero or Villain: Hero
Making it to the top five among the most popular Flash characters of all time and the top ten among the most popular Arrowverse characters of all time is our second scientist: Dr. Caitlin Snow!
“Dr. Caitlin “Cait” Snow, M.D. (born February 28, 1989) is a bio-engineer at STAR LABS and a former scientist at Mercury Labs. She was working during the particle accelerator disaster and tended to Barry Allen during his coma with Cisco Ramon until he woke up.” She is brilliant scientist and serves as the medical expert in Team Flash, even performing surgery on several team members when they get fatally injured.
In the original Flash timeline, she has no meta-human abilities to speak of. However, after Flashpoint, she gains cold powers and a very icy alter-ego. While “Killer” Frost was initially a villain, she and Caitlin have formed a bond of sisterhood. In the sixth season, Caitlin develops severe headaches which eventually results in Frost and her separating into two bodies.

Number Four: Cisco Ramon aka Mecha-Vibe
Hero or Villain: Hero
At number four among the most popular Flash characters of all time we move into a legendary namegiver, the incomparable Cisco Ramon!
“Francisco Baracus “Cisco” Ramon (born c. 1991), nicknamed Vibe by Barry Allen is a former meta-human and former mechanical engineering genius at STAR Labs, also formerly serving as the prison guard to their makeshift prison”, or The Pipeline as it is referred to. He is a gifted mechanical engineer, and designed the different iterations of The Flash’s hero suit. He also helped develop the defenses the STAR Labs has against speedsters and other meta-humans.
For a time, he was the meta-human hero Vibe, until he took the meta-human cure after the war with Cicada (both I and II) were over. He later develops a mechanical armor that mimics his old vibrational powers, and goes by the moniker Mecha-Vibe.

Number Three: Cecile Horton
Hero or Villain: Hero
Ability: Empath/Emotional Manipulation
Coming in and making the top three among the most popular Flash characters of all time is our favorite DA, and resident Empath, Cecile Horton. Cecile Horton is the former DA of Central City, and worked with Detective Joe West on a number of cases to free innocent victims of meta-crimes and put behind bars the real perpetrators.
She received her powers the same night that Barry became The Flash. However, they were in a dormant state until she used a mental enhancer to help Barry enter the mind of Clifford Devoe. After the events of Season 5, she became a freelance meta-human lawyer, and occasionally helps out Team Flash on missions.

Number Two: Detective Joe West
Hero or Villain: Hero (sort of)
Coming in at number two among the most popular Flash characters of all time is the adoptive father of Barry Allen, Police Captain Joe West.
I should make a point to say: Joe is the reason Barry turned out so great and became the hero he is today.
Joe West was a friend of Henry Allen and Nora Allen. When Nora was killed by Eobard Thawne and Henry was arrested for her murder, he took Barry into his care, and raised him together with his daughter, Iris. It is because of the nurturing of Joe that Barry has his sense of morals and lines he won’t cross.
He is an honest and good cop, which is why when the position of captain is vacated by David Singh, he appoints Joe as his successor. As Captain, Joe helps Team Flash get a head start with their investigations into meta-crimes, and with Cisco’s help and meta-human cuffs, apprehends meta-humans who threaten the city.

Number One: Barry Allen
Hero or Villain: Hero
Coming in at number one among the most popular Flash characters of all time is The Fastest Man Alive himself, Barry Allen!
“Bartholomew Henry “Barry” Allen (born March 14, 1989) is a scientist in the Criminal and Forensic Science Division of the Central City Police Department. He is the son of the late Henry and Nora Allen, the foster son turned son-in-law of Joe West, the husband of Iris West-Allen…”
When he is struck by lighting during the particle accelerator explosion in Central City, he gains superhuman speed and accelerated healing abilities. Barry is the what many say is the epitome of what a hero stands for – truth, an abiding sense of justice, and hope. He is the not only helping the city as The Flash, but he also aids any all all that need his help in and out of the suit.
While many say that Barry’s speed is his super power, his true power is that he cares about people. His heart is always in the right place, and no matter what action he takes, he does it to save the people and the city that he loves. That’s probably why during the Crisis of Infinite Earths arc, The Monitor said that Barry was the Paragon of Love.
Who else would you pull from the honorable mentions to bring up to this list?
