Alright Game of Thrones fans, first and foremost, how do we feel about this cast?
I think I can dig it.
He’s got a lot to live up to after the roles Charlie Cox played in Daredevil, Krysten Ritter in her Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage. Not to mention, they’ll all be working together for The Defenders!
Iron Fist comes out March 17th, and I’m freakin’ stoked.
Update: Yikes.
In this one we’ll be talking about Finn Jones grueling workout routine, fight training, and even Buddhism.
Say, what?
But, first let’s go over some of Finn Jones stats.
Finn Jones Stats
Age: 29
Height: 6’0
Weight: (approximate) 160 lbs.
So, he’s not quite as tall and monstrous as guys like Chris Hemsworth, Jason Momoa (another Game of Thrones member) and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but he is up there.
He also seems to packing on some muscle for the role, as his weight is quite low for someone 6’0. We recently saw something similar with Benedict Cumberbatch when he became Doctor Strange.

Finn Jones Nutrition
As always, I’m going to start by sending you directly (no passing go, no collecting $200) to the Nutrition Pillars.
Regardless of if you’re going to be using this routine to bulk or not, it’s mainly dependent on how you structure your nutrition. While it is going to be based around bulking techniques, you are also training to be a Superhero, so swapping some of the nutrition can change a ton of your results.
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach.
That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
We’ve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.
For example: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well), Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, that’s just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.
You can check out our Nutrition Pillars for more information and articles on all of the above and more.

Finn Jones Workout Routine Research
Finn Jones is utilizing a pretty full schedule for his training regime. I mean, he is trying to become a badass Superhero…
Entertainment Weekly gives us a quote from him stating:
At the moment I’m in the physical preparation for the role. Every day for the last month, I start my day with about two and a half hours of martial arts — which is kung fu and wushu mixed with a bit of tai chi, and other stuff as well. In the afternoon I’ll do weight training with a trainer to bulk me up and get my physically right for the part. And in evenings I’ve been doing meditation classes and learning buddhist philosophies.
Alright, well we’re not going to be starting our days with two and a half hours of martial arts, but adding in some fighting skills will definitely be fun.
The weight training he mentions in his afternoon makes sense, as I stated before he’s a bit light and needed to bulk up for his role.
Finn Jones also adds, slightly fading away from training talk, in regards to his role:
“I’ve always dreamed of a role that bridged spiritual discipline and badass superhero. This is the kind of role I’ve been waiting for for a long time. Now that it’s happened, it’s like a dream come true. I’m super excited.”
Again, like Cumberbatch, we’ll find a way to incorporate some type of, as Jones calls it “spiritual discipline” into our training. We can do this without having to learn a foreign skill from SHJ by adding in some yoga and/or meditation.
