Fire Force holds a special place in the hearts of the SHJ army.

Power in this anime is not simply a thing of innate ability, but also results from the strength of one’s very mind, body and soul. Now, don’t get me wrong though, there are some absolute monsters in this anime who make a forest fire look like a minor incident.

Many characters in this series deserve recognition, but only 12 shall be chosen. However, I will be sure to throw in some runner-ups as well.

For this one we scoured the internet for help and almost every single listicle has a different take on who the most powerful Fire Force characters are. So what we decided to do was compile ALL of them together and then took the average of all the compiled ratings and placed them in their slot accordingly. Additional characters who did not make it in the top twelve that deserve a mention as well can be seen in the runner-up section.

MOST POWERFUL FIRE FORCE CHARACTERS

Number Twelve: Kurono Yuichiro

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Black Smoke

At number twelve of the most powerful Fire Force characters is death himself: Kurono Yuichiro!

This guy knows how to get you all choked up…

Kurono is said to possess an ability equal to that of Benimaru Shinmon, who is our number two slot in this list. I feel that part of the reason Kurono is so low on this list is that he hasn’t shown as much potential as Benimaru nor gained as much popularity. Basically, what I’m trying to say is do not underestimate the ability of this man even though he is number twelve. He is deadly in hand to hand combat as well as wielding a blade. His Ignition ability is where the true terror of this guy lies however. From his body emits an extremely hot black smoke which he not only can navigate freely and sense his opponents movement within it, but can also work it into the body of his enemies and burn them from the inside out.

So just sit and imagine what it would be like to have a crematorium burning inside of you…

Number Eleven: Arthur Boyle

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Excalibur

At number eleven of the most powerful Fire Force characters is the mighty sword wielder Arthur Boyle!

Arthur is more of a Fire KNIGHT than he is a Fire Soldier. The sheer power that this knightly warrior possesses should give you an idea of what is in store further up on this list. To start off describing Arthur, he possesses a rare ability to manipulate plasma, which is basically an EXTREMELY hot substance that is part of the makeup of our very sun. An interesting factor of this ability is that he uses it in the form of a sword, well more or less a damn lightsaber. He possesses skill with both hands wielding his burning blade, but when he switches to his right hand, all hell breaks loose. It is even said that one of his most powerful attacks can cut the entire planet in two…

Yeah you read that right… He cut the planet IN HALF!!!

Number Ten: Sho Kusakabe

Generation: Third and Fourth

Pyrokinesis: Burning Feathers

At number ten of the most powerful Fire Force characters is the time wizard Sho Kusakabe!

Sho is the stern and emotionally stunted brother of Shinra Kusakabe. Simply in his combat prowess alone, Sho is a deadly opponent to face. He has unyielding resolve and a hyper focus while fighting that makes his special ability even more difficult to work against. Utilizing his Adolla Burst, Sho is capable of slowing time to the point many think he stops time entirely. Known as Severed Universe, Sho can seem to teleport around an opponent and cut them with his katana before they even know what just occurred. This ability is a strange one in this burning universe, as it actually causes such an extreme drop in temperature that it manipulates the very expansion of the universe, slowing times natural flow to a crawl.

Number Nine: Shinra Kusakabe

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Devil’s Footprint

At number nine of our most powerful Fire Force characters is the fire dancer Shinra Kusakabe!

Yes I know… How is the main character so low on this list…

Shinra is like a supersonic jet that can use its thrusters to also kick your head across the room. He also takes a hobby of breakdancing to a new level, mixing up his attacks in various ways to throw opponents off guard and also defend himself. On top of his insane amount of physical attack power, Shinra also possesses the ability known as Hysterical Strength, which enhances his firepower immensely. He has also mastered several hand signs, which provide boosts to his various abilities depending on how he holds his hands. Lastly, his Adolla Burst is basically the complete opposite of Sho’s. By breaking his body down to subatomic levels, he is capable of moving at speeds even greater than light, and striking an opponent as he rematerializes at the end of his streak.

Number Eight: Woman In Black

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Flame of Life

Number eight of the most powerful Fire Force characters is the mother of lands: The Woman In Black!

This is an interesting character to make it on the list. She is not quite a character you may remember having much of a presence in the anime, but nonetheless she was an immensely powerful Pyrokinetic user who Shinra and his team experienced. She has an almost earthly god level ability which can give extended life and quite literally feed one’s hunger. She created an entire landscape using her life giving ability and utilizing the power of the Shintai.

Yeah you read that right… She birthed an entire land.

Number Seven: Haumea

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Electric Shock

At number seven of our most powerful Fire Force characters is the lightning rod Haumea!

This girl is likely to leave you quite shocked…

Haumea is one of the few characters who has taken her pyrokinesis to the next level and manipulated her flames into a different characteristic of fire. She is basically a human battery who utilizes the immense energy output that comes from heat. Though she is not normally seen using her electric energy as a weapon, she is able to use it in other interesting ways. She is able to manipulate the neurotransmitters of her enemies and turn them against each other like a puppeteer. She is also like a walking beacon who can send messages to distant team members, making her a reliable and crucial operative for the White Clad.

Number Six: Charon

Generation: Second

Pyrokinesis: Energy Absorption

At number six of our most powerful Fire Force characters is the human punching bag: Charon!

Charon as a basic human being is a tough opponent who through sheer strength can leave craters in the ground. His physical prowess is only enhanced by his strange but powerful pyrokinetic ability. For lack of better explanation, Charon is more or less a human punching bag who can redirect the stored energy of these attacks and release them back at his opponent. By storing the kinetic energy, Charon is able to cause explosions from all of his extremities in various ways. This ability also works as a solid defense against his enemies, as it is capable of absorbing even some of the most powerful pyrokinetic abilities.

Number Five: Joker

Generation: Third?

Pyrokinesis: Fire Cards

Coming in at number five of our most powerful Fire Force characters is a master of blackjack: Joker!

Joker is a very interesting character to watch in combat. He is quite skilled in hand-to-hand combat and shows a high level finesse when easily dodging even some of the fastest attacks. He is primarily seen using a pyrokinetic ability where he forms cards made of fire from thin air. These cards are capable of slicing through his opponents with relative ease, exploding on impact, and blocking incoming attacks. It has been shown that he is capable of creating a massive amount of cards while in combat.

Number Four: Leonard Burns

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Voltage Nova

At number four among the most powerful Fire Force characters is fire incarnate: Leonard Burns!

Leonard is an absolute monster. He is another character who through sheer physical force and natural durability can cause a problem for his opponents. His Ignition ability, Voltage Nova, only adds to his physical prowess, and makes him a walking furnace who can rival the sun. As his ability continues to run, Leonard continues to build up pressurized heat, which continues through stages of energy output. This ability seems to be limitless, continuously growing in intensity and power as time goes on. He is able to use this ability both offensively and defensively, such as through his physical attacks or by firing pressurized blasts at his enemies.

Number Three: Dragon

Generation: Third

Pyrokinesis: Fire Breathing

At number three of the most powerful Fire Force characters is the fire-breathing Dragon!

Dragon is a man of immeasurable strength and endurance. He basically has zero pain threshold and can demolish mountains with his very fists. Using his pyrokinesis, Dragon emits flames of varying size from his mouth, which can detonate like a proximity bomb when near enemies. Dragon also has the unique ability to Infernalize himself, which only increases his already immeasurable abilities to a greater level. 

Also one of his Infernalized forms basically turns him into a dragon…

Number Two: Benimaru Shinmon

Generation: Second and Third

Pyrokinesis: Sun Wheel

Coming in at number two among the most powerful Fire Force characters is the human sun: Benimaru Shinmon!

Benimaru is an ABSOLUTE powerhouse. It is a huge thrill to watch this man throwdown with a powerful enemy. He is an extremely fast individual, moving as if he knows the flash step from Bleach. He is a master of the ability Hysterical Strength, which grants him immense physical capabilities and can fight on for hours at a time. He is able to not only create his own flames, but manipulate them with a fine-point accuracy, as well as redirect even some of the most powerful pyrokinetic abilities. With his ability Sun Wheel, Benimaru is able to launch an immeasurably powerful blast at his opponent and incinerate even some of the most powerful foes.

Number One: The Evangelist

Generation: Good Question

Pyrokinesis: Adolla Grace

At number one of the most powerful Fire Force characters is the supposed goddess: The Evangelist!

The Evangelist possesses god-level abilities, though they have never really been seen in combat thus far. She is able to move through the Tear in Space, which is something like a sub-reality that only otherworldly beings are able to move through unless brought there through an Adolla Link. She is able to cause massive earthquakes at will and is able to blind anyone who looks directly upon her magnificence as if she herself is the Sun. The Evangelist can also grant Adolla Grace to individuals she sees fit for her blessing, which grants them abilities of the rare Fourth Generation Pyrokinetics.
