Mark Consuelos has always been in great shape.
But recently he has seemed to step it up a notch.
I’m not POSITIVE, but it may have something to do with the young-gun competition he has on the set of Riverdale, which he stars as Hiram Lodge.
We’ve seen actors like KJ Apa, Charles Melton and Cole Sprouse, who actually all work with the same trainer; and Consuelos has joined in on some of the fun (as we’ll see in his workout routine research).
The All My Children Star now stars in Riverdale and has no problem taking his shirt off to show his ripped abs that competes right there with the young twenty-something year old stars next to him.
Mark Consuelos Stats:
Height: 5’7
Weight: (approximate) 160 lbs.
Age: 48 years old
I hope to be as cool as Mark Consuelos when I’m his age.
He’s even short like I am, it’s perfect.
The average height falls in the range of 6’1-6’3 with celebs like Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Adam Driver, Stephen Amell, Clive Standen and so many more.
Guys around 5’10-6’0 are dudes like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Jason Statham, but the ACTUAL shorter range is filled with guys like Mark Wahlberg, Zac Efron, Kit Harington, Tom Holland and more.
Even taller than them are guys like The Mountain, Joe Manganiello, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Winston Duke, Alexander Skarsgard and a few others.
But, don’t worry either way.
We write these routines to be utilized by any shape and size.

Mark Consuelos Diet and Nutrition
Mark Consuelos utilizes the keto diet to shred down when it’s time to show off the bod.
And is seems like it’s always time for that when it comes to Consuelos!
In an interview with US Magazine, wife Kelly Ripa (who we’ll also be analyzing this week) states:
“My husband has gone full keto, which I don’t mind telling you is something I could never do,” Ripa explained. “I just don’t have that level of discipline. Mark says that I’m carb-o because I always eat his bun if he gets a burger. And the fries. But, you know, I workout, so I feel like I’m allowed. I’m 48, I’m entitled and I’m eating whatever I want to eat.”
Although it’s safe to say that Consuelos isn’t ALWAYS strict keto considering her choice of words “has gone”.
And Ripa goes on to say:
“Mark says that I’m ‘carb-o,’ because I always eat his bun if he gets a burger. And the fries,” she said. “But you know, I work out, so I feel like I’m allowed.”
We actually recently added the “Eat Fat, Lose Fat” Nutrition Class to our Academy that specifically revolves around the keto diet, and we’ve actually seen a handful of actors that are able to sustain it for longer periods of time.
Ripa sustains a different set of restrictions (or not), which we’ll see more in depth in her article.
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais, & Eat Fat, Lose Fat) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
We’ve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.
For example: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hopper, and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well), Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, that’s just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.

Mark Consuelos Workout Routine Research
As I mentioned above, Mark Consuelos has clearly had a great physique for most of his career.
But, he’s seemed to step it up a notch and really shred down and show off the six pack even more in the last year or so.
Actors KJ Apa and Charles Melton who join him on set also work with celebrity trainer Alex Fine, and Consuelos apparently joins them on occasion to work on rocking the same six packs as the young-studs (or better!?).
People Magazine tell us:
To get six-pack abs like Riverdale stars KJ Apa and Charles Melton, their trainer says commitment is key.
Along with Apa, 21, and Melton, 28, celebrity trainer Alex Fine also works with the show’s Cole Sprouse, Mark Consuelos, Casey Cott and Hart Denton, who are put through two workouts a day.
And Fine gives us some inside scoop on how this is broken down:
“Their cardio is usually sprinting on the treadmill and the afternoon is mostly body weight workouts,” Fine says. “Pull-ups, push-ups, and about 10 to 15 minutes of abs everyday.”
Seems like something we can get behind!
Morning cardio (although from my research into Fine’s workouts it’s INTENSE cardio), and then afternoon bodyweight training.
I can dig it.
Oh, and something Fine does to really shred the extra fat/water weight is bump up the training even harder when a shirtless scene is coming up. Here’s what he says:
Fine says when one of the cast members has a shirtless scene coming up, they will even bump the workouts up to three times a day. The third session consists of something different like pilates or boxing.
“For the person that doesn’t have that kind of time, you can get enough out of it with a 45-minute workout in the morning,” Fine says. “It’s totally fine, it’s just, they look like that for a reason. All of them are in extremely great shape.”
These guys DO NOT mess around.
Fine finishes off the interview with:
“It’s difficult,” he says. “Every one of them works extremely hard. A lot of people make the excuse that they don’t have enough time in the day to workout. You have enough time for anything if you make it. Go to bed an hour earlier so you can wake up an hour earlier. A lot of these guys who come on the show work long days for a month at a time, but they make time for exercise as well.”
You think you’re motivated enough for something like this?
Two a days, three a days, sprints, and more!

Mark Consuelos Workout Routine
Training Volume:
5-6+ Days A Week / Two Times A Day
Explanation:
Riverdale training is no joke. The actors take it extremely serious and put a lot of time and energy into their training. If you want to get shredded like them, you’re going to have to have the same amount of motivation. If you can’t make it for the two-a-days and prefer just one time a day we can increase the volume of training and turn it into one session.
