Elodie Yung’s workout routine is one that has been highly requested.
For good reason!!!
Yung has been in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, God of Egypt and most recently The Hitman’s Bodyguard.
And, all of that is other than our favorite performance she gave us; portraying our Elektra in Netflix’s Original Marvel Series!
We’ve been on a Marvel’s Defenders tear recently with the release, and Yung joins the list of the other Original Series stars like: Mike Colter, Jessica Henwick, Finn Jones, and Charlie Cox!
Elodie Yung Stats:
Height: 5’5
Weight: (approximate) 126 lbs.
Age: 36 years old
Yung struts a physique right around the average height, right around the range of Emily Bett Rickards, Olivia Munn, Katie Cassidy and Caity Lotz.
She’s below women like Gal Gadot, Sophie Turner, and Jennifer Lawrence, but still standing above Natalie Portman, Emilia Clarke and Scarlett Johansson.
But hey, don’t worry, this routine will be ready for anyone and everyone to utilize (regardless of height and weight).

Elodie Yung Diet and Nutrition
Like I’ve stated before, Elodie Yung has been in some other incredible SuperHuman-like roles.
That being said, in a few articles I was able to find that, like us, Elodie Yung is still able to remember she is only HUMAN.
I state this because many people forget that it’s okay to remember this and take advantage of some cheat meals from time to time. That’s why The Academy’s Nutrition Classes have built in options for making these choices (Vikings, Monks, Samurais, Hunter Gatherers, Spartans, Minimalists).
Elodie Yung loves pastries, especially doughnuts!
But, she also loves her roles and position as an actor fulfilling them.
In an interview for Audrey magazine, she told the reporter, who was a Cambodian like herself, that her love for pastry doesn’t originate in France. “ It’s your Cambodian side”, the reporter quickly replied.
And, in another article about Yung’s nutrition I was able to find:
Although Yung is not so mindful about her diet, she takes her job very seriously when it comes to preparing for a role. For Gods of Egypt, for example, she had to keep up with the rest of the cast, like the highly athletic Gerard Butler or the Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. And the result talks by itself about the commitment of the 35 years old actress!
Oh, and don’t worry – those links in the quote are to SHJ workout routines 😉 !
What we can learn from Elodie Yung’s diet is that there is a time and a place for everything. It’s okay to be very serious about our nutrition, as we should be – but it’s also okay to be human.

Elodie Yung Workout Routine Research
Very similar to Elodie Yung’s diet is her workout routine regime when prepping for roles.
If you’ve seen The Defenders, you know very well that she is incredibly toned and Superhero Jacked!
One thing I want to touch on before we even begin to pick apart her workout routine is the fact that Yung is not a stranger to karate. Here’s a quote from an interview with Refinery29:
When did you start doing karate, and what was your training like growing up?
“Well, I started when I was 9 years old. I grew up in a very nasty neighborhood. It’s called le quatre-vingt-treize. It’s outside of Paris. It’s a suburb. It’s just nasty — quite dangerous and all that. I think my dad came up with this idea that I should be able to defend myself. He asked me when I was 9, ‘Do you want to do dance or do you want to do karate?’ with a big smile on his face. As a kid, I was like, oh, karate seems to be the most fun out of the two disciplines so I’m going to take that. I trained for so many years. It was just a social thing. I did it for a long time. I stopped when I went to university.”
Now I know what you’re thinking…”Yeah, it was pretty obvious she knew what she was doing”!
Well, I just wanted to make a point of it, because our MMA Coach Derek in The Academy definitely would want me to!
And, just so we’re not making any falsehood about her training for Elektra, I’d like to also use the quote:
Did you have to learn anything new for the show?
“Actually, I did. They incorporated some capoeira moves and other disciplines. So I did my best. I had to learn the sai — Elektra has these weapons. They are not swords. It’s quite hard to manipulate. It’s like three daggers in one and you have to twist it. That’s not something you can just learn on the spot.”
So, she didn’t know EVERYTHING, but she’s pretty damn good.
In an interview with Celeb.com about more of her training Yung states:
“You have five month to shoot, and you really have to be on top of everything, physically. There’s no rest, and you have to take care of yourself constantly. I had to fight with two katanas. It requires a lot of coordination and was very difficult.”
Which she follows up with:
“I am black belted in karate, so I am familiar with fights. And I did some action movie before… But when I arrived here, I realized that I had to play with two swords which was completely different. I was a bit nervous, during the training I had some bad moments, but at the end of the day I was happy and accomplished”
Oh, man – Coach Derek would have a field day with this one. He’s also programmed us a sword/stick fighting (aka lightsaber) bonus for our Jedi Path!
And, before we get into the actual routine I’m going to program for you: I want to let you know that I will be programming it based on what I found in interviews and articles, as usual, but also basing it around other physiques like Yung’s so that I can give you something that is possible for all the ladies of SHJ!
