Djimon Hounsou has been in so many incredible movies.
I was putting a list together and I didn’t even know how to name my favorites.
I am such a huge fan of his. Ever since my first time seeing Gladiator – which was a long time ago!
From there I even absolutely loved his role in Never Back Down (which is one of the less popular movies among the list), and now he’s been in roles like Guardians of the Galaxy, Aquaman, Furious 7, The Legend of Tarzan, and soon to be Captain Marvel and Shazam!.
I mean, come on! That’s amazing.
And he’s sported a superhero physique throughout the entirety of it.
Which lands him a much deserved spot on the site.
Djimon Hounsou Stats:
Height: 6’2
Weight: (approximate) 175 lbs.
Age: 54 years old
Djimon Hounsou falls right around the average height among male celebs.
Right there in the middle of it, actually.
That average height falls in the range of 6’1-6’3 with celebs like Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Adam Driver, Stephen Amell, Clive Standen and so many more.
Guys around 5’10-6’0 are dudes like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Jason Statham, but the ACTUAL shorter range is filled with guys like Mark Wahlberg, Zac Efron, Kit Harington, Tom Holland and more.
Even taller than them are guys like The Mountain, Joe Manganiello, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Winston Duke, Alexander Skarsgard and a few others.
But, don’t worry either way.
We write these routines to be utilized by any shape and size.

Djimon Hounsou Diet and Nutrition
Djimon Hounsou has worked with personal trainer and nutritionist Alexander Denk for previous roles.
And Men’s Health shares a large portion of Hounsou’s go-to meals!
Hounsou says:
“There’s a huge difference in the way you look when you focus on both nutrition and conditioning,”
They break it down in such a way that Hounsou believes makes eating healthy and effective more fun.
Can someone say sustainable?
Well if you won’t, I will.
Here’s some of the food Men’s Health shows Hounsou subbing out for breakfast:
The boring thing you eat now:Â Cereal
What Djimon eats:Â Fruit-filled Oatmeal
The boring thing you eat now:Â Egg whites
What Djimon eats:Â Organic Green Omelet
And here’s one of the snacks:
The boring thing you eat now:Â Protein shake (protein powder and water or soy milk)
What Djimon eats:Â Fruit-filled Protein Shake
Onto lunch and dinner:
The boring thing you eat now:Â Sandwich (meat, cheese, lettuce, and mayo)
What Djimon eats:Â Whole-wheat Turkey Wrap
The boring thing you eat now:Â Chicken and brown rice
What Djimon eats:Â Lean Turkey Chili
Which is basically everything broken down in a way that makes eating healthy more enjoyable for Hounsou.
And, we see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
We’ve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.Â
For example: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well), Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, that’s just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.

Djimon Hounsou Workout Routine Research
Right off the bat I should mention that Djimon Hounsou has a background in boxing.
In an interview about Never Back Down he talks about how it was helpful to an extent, but admits that it was extremely difficult to learn mixed martial arts (the combination of multiple fighting techniques) after learning to focus in on strictly boxing for so long.
Also in the interview he discusses how amazing of a sport he feels mixed martial arts is and how incredible he thinks it is for anyone to learn it.
Expect to see some of that incorporated in our training.
Something else I found that was great for us crafting this routine is shots of Djimon Hounsou out for a run in the nice California heat.
Just Jared shares pictures of him doing pull ups on a makeshift pull-up bar and shares:
The 53-year-old actor was spotted during a workout session on Tuesday afternoon (May 30) in Santa Monica, Calif. Not only did Djimon get in some climbing reps on the steep steps, he also showed off his arm strength on a makeshift pull up bar! Djimon did a ton of pull-ups before letting go of the bar with a twist.
From most of what I found while researching Djimnon Hounsou’s routine it comes from bodyweight movements, cardiovascular activity, mixed martial arts training (he even shared some clips of him doing combat training for his upcoming role in Captain Marvel), and other outdoor activities (such as hiking and being outdoors moving and active).
If we can replicate this, what comes next is focusing in on our nutrition to get Superhero Jacked like Djimon Hounsou!
