Okay, who else is missing Deadpool?
I know I am.
This is a good enough Deadpool fix for me considering Ed Skrein’s amazing job as Ajax in the first Deadpool movie, and now he’ll be continuing on to play in Alita: Battle Angel, having starred in Transporter: Refueled and even Game of Thrones in the past!
We won’t hold it against him that he didn’t stay in the role of Daario Naharis.
We’ll just still chalk it up as a big win!
Ed Skrein Stats:
Height: 6’1
Weight: (approximate) 190 lbs
Age: 35 years old
Ed Skrein just makes it to the average height among men at SHJ.
Although some sources tell us he’s not quite 6’1, we’ll give it to him.
That average height falls in the range of 6’1-6’3 with celebs like Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Adam Driver, Stephen Amell, Clive Standen and so many more.
Guys around 5’10-6’0 are dudes like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Jason Statham, but the ACTUAL shorter range is filled with guys like Mark Wahlberg, Zac Efron, Kit Harington, Tom Holland and more.
Even taller than them are guys like The Mountain, Joe Manganiello, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Winston Duke, Alexander Skarsgard and a few others.
But, don’t worry either way.
We write these routines to be utilized by any shape and size.

Ed Skrein Diet and Nutrition
The Ed Skrein diet is pretty straightforward.
He prefers to follows the paleo diet, like some other celebs we’ve seen.
I found him talk about the paleo diet a bit in an interview with Detail, but Healthy Celeb also tells us this:
The rules for gaining and losing weight seem simple enough. However, it gets complicated very fast when you want to alter your body composition without compromising your overall fitness. With little time to track macros and calories, as long as Ed is shooting, he sticks to a paleo diet, making place for only one cheat meal a week.
Sounds pretty fair.
I’ll give it to them.
They also shared a quote from Skrein that I liked enough to want to share:
“I’ve never really had a problem getting to my goal. I’ve just had to work bloody hard and be blood disciplined.”
Man I wish I could pull off the word “bloody”.
But, okay okay, back to the nutrition.
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
We’ve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.
For example: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well), Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, that’s just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.
You can check out our Nutrition Pillars for more information and articles on all of the above and more.

Ed Skrein Workout Routine Research
Ed Skrein definitely likes to talk about his fitness, so although there’s not that many sources, the interviews that do exist tend to have something about his physique.
He tells Coach Mag:
Right now I’m about an 8. I’ve been higher – when I was training for Deadpool, I was 3% body fat, training twice a day and eating seven meals a day. Although when I went to Japan to promote The Transporter Refueled I just thought, “I’m gonna eat whatever the hell I want”. So I had deep fried dumplings, pork buns, all the sushi – I was going nuts. I probably went up to about 12% body fat – I was really chilled about it, but it’s all about yin and yang.
I’m willing to bet any amount of money he wasn’t 3% body fat, but maybe (maybe) around 8?
Which is still pretty intense.
He continues with some more awesome information though, stating:
What do you do, fitness-wise?
For The Transporter, it was all martial arts – I did not pick up a weight for four months. For Deadpool, I wanted a stronger silhouette, so I was doing weights instead. I practice boxing and kali escrima, which is Filipino knife and stick fighting – it’s so fun and it’s a great discipline.
Where does your fitness come from?
I’ve always been a sporty dude, I was a competitive swimmer when I was a kid, and I did half marathons and triathlons later on. Me and two guys swam the English Channel in 2009, and in 2011 we cycled 1,000 miles for charity.
What’s the highlight of your fitness week?
I love finishing work on legs. I did legs yesterday and when I finished, I thought, “You can fuck right off for another six days, I’m not going near that squat rack”. That’s the best feeling.
What will you never do again?
Cycling. When I finished the 1,000-mile bike ride, I got to John o’ Groats from Land’s End and I was so sick to death of that piece of shit. We had to break our bikes apart to put them in boxes to come back down on the train, and I never took it out again, I just sold it. I know there’s enthusiasts out there, but I’m sick to death of it.
Coach Mag isn’t the only source he told about his love for mixed martial arts. He also told BBC that he was “obsessed”, and continued by also stating:
“I’m addicted,” he told Newsbeat. “I didn’t have a background in martial arts so I had to work hard to work out that craft. I’m very respectful and realize I’m not going to be able to do things meant for 10 or 20 years of training, after just a month or so. But since the movies finished filming I’ve continued to train my martial arts.”
And from some other sources I was able to to figure out that Skrein trains at an extremely high volume.
Some sources say 6 days a week for Deadpool, with 4-5 days of mixed martial arts on top of that.
You think you’re ready for that?

Ed Skrein Workout Routine
Training Volume:
6 days per week
Explanation:
As I mentioned above, Skrein was training at an extremely high volume. He was lifting 6 days a week for Deadpool and also still training his mixed martial arts on top of that. For Transporter he trained MMA for four months straight without touching weights, so you can also opt to utilize the mixed martial arts routines I share from Coach Derek without utilizing the weights if you’d like as well.
