In our SHJ Nutrition System we revolve our diet around calories and protein intake.
This enables us to have what we consider “free calories” that are used for our indulgences and cheat meals.
We talk about these in our 4-Tier-Nutrition-System in our Nutrition Pillars right here on the site for free as well if you’re looking to get started with them.
For that reason protein shakes are a great way to free up calories!
But, when you’re going to be “spending” or allocating a decent amount of calories to the protein shake anyways, sometimes it’s more fun when there are some additives that make it taste awesome.
I almost always mix my protein powder with water, but sometimes I do also like to mix it up with some of these recipes as well.
In our SHJ Nutrition System we have a Recipe Index that breaks down all of our recipes into their specific section based on calories and overall protein so that it’s super easy for members to plan their daily intake.
With that we’ve had a handful of requests to increase the number of protein shake recipes that we add to that list.
So here we are!
If you’ve been a member of The SHJ Army for a while you’re probably aware of our favorite protein powders here at SHJ, but if not you can check out our Top 5 Protein Powders here.
All the recipes below are with the assumption you’ll be utilizing our top pick: PEScience Protein Powder.
FIVE SIMPLE PROTEIN SHAKE RECIPES FOR EASY PROTEIN INTAKE
PEANUT BUTTER BANANA PROTEIN SHAKE
Let’s start with a super simple protein shake that’s also an obvious favorite.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup almond milk
1 banana
1 container Low Fat Greek yogurt
32g peanut butter protein powder
4 ice cubes
1 tbsp peanut butter
Anything with peanut butter usually takes the cake around here at SHJ, so I figured I’d start us off with this one.

SUPER BERRY PROTEIN SHAKE
Next up is a nice mixed berry shake!
Ingredients:
8-12 oz water
1 cup spinach
2 cups frozen mixed berries
1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
1 tbsp walnuts
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
This one is a super shake, mixing in spinach, walnuts and flaxseed for all the health! 🙂

PUMPKIN PIE PROTEIN SHAKE
This one comes in next just because it’s pretty relevant right now!
Ingredients:
12 oz water or milk (milk not included in the calories)
2 scoops vanilla flavored protein powder
¾ cup of pureed pumpkin
1 tbsp of ground flax
½ cup of uncooked oats
Cinnamon and vanilla extract to taste
Ice
I’m sorry if we missed the pumpkin window this year, but this shake is still great!

BLUEBERRY VANILLA PROTEIN SHAKE
This one is probably my favorite! I didn’t want to be biased and put it at number one just because I love blueberry, but it’s SO good.
Ingredients:
¼ cup low fat cottage cheese
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 tbsp flaxseed meal
1½ cups water
3-4 ice cubes
If you like THICK shakes and blueberries I suggest adding an extra scoop of powder to this one!

STRAWBERRY BANANA PROTEIN SHAKE
This one is probably the most “basic” shake on the list, but definitely a pillar and a go-to!
Ingredients:
8-12 oz water or milk (milk not included in calories)
2 scoops vanilla or strawberry flavored protein powder
1 banana
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 cup of spinach
2 tbsp of ground flax
And if I’m being honest you can even get away with mixing other flavored powders aside from vanilla and strawberry.

That’s a wrap.
