I feel like when our celeb is this much of a babe I shouldn’t even have to say it.
But I’m going to do it anyway (for the tradition, yah know?): Babe alert!
Selena Gomez somehow snuck by among our celeb females we’ve seen, but I promise to make it up to you with this article by making it even extra awesome.
If you guys didn’t know, Gomez is not only an actress but also a singer and executive producer.
After starting her career in Barney and Friends, Gomez went on to star in Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana.ย From there she went on to be in Wizards of Waverly Place and a handful of other roles leading into The Dead Don’t Die and more; but also starting her singing career and becoming an executive producer for the hit Netflix Original: 13 Reason’s Why.
Yeah, so this babe is out there getting work done.
Oh, but she still finds time for the gym. Don’t worry.
Selena Gomez Stats:
Height: 5’5
Weight: (approximate) 117 lbs.
Age: 27 years old
Selena Gomez falls right around the average height among female celebs we’ve seen at SHJ.
Although there were a couple listings that put her an inch or two shorter.
Normally the average height we see for women is around 5โ4-5โ6ย with ladies such asย Jennifer Aniston,ย Margot Robbie,ย Olivia Munn,ย Alicia Vikander,ย Sophia Bush,ย Tatiana Maslany,ย Evangeline Lilly, and a ton of others.
But then there is also that taller range, and among the tallest (even taller than the 5โ7-5โ8), are ladies likeย Gwendoline Christie,ย Gal Gadot, and a few others โ withย Phoebe Tonkin,ย Gabrielle Union,ย Brie Larson,ย Nina Dobrev,ย Daisy Ridley, and so many more coming in around that 5โ7-5โ8 range.
And, letโs not forget the shorter ladies of SHJ likeย Ariana Grande,ย Scarlett Johansson,ย Mila Kunis,ย Emilia Clarke,ย Lucy Hale,ย Julianne Houghย and a good handful of others.
But, either way, donโt worry.
I write these routines for anyone and everyone.

Selena Gomez Diet and Nutrition
Selena Gomez began working with a celebrity trainer named Amy Rosoff in around 2015 and lost a lot of weight going into 2016 and 2017.
During this phase she also began changing her diet with Amy as well.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Amy states:
“I want to live my life like a French person,” Amy said. “I don’t believe in denying yourself, but I also believe in moderation. Life is too short not to enjoy food.”
But, I want to be clear about something: she’s talking about moderation and being able to eat whatever you want, but she also believes in eating healthier at the same time.
Her next key point in the interview is:
Switch from fast food to whole food.ย About that: Selena speaks with pride about eating like she’s from Texas. “She loves Tex-Mex and fast food that I would normally not condone,” Amy said. “I will walk onto the tour bus and smell fast food, throw it in the trash, and hand her a carrot and hummus.” Changing Selena’s eating habits has helped a lot in shaping her physique, Amy said. “She responds really quickly. We’ll do barely any ab exercises and two days later, I’m like, ‘Whoa!'”
And in an interview with Byrdie Rosoff states:
“I am all about focusing on good-quality fresh ingredients. Real food is so much yummier than something that comes out of a box or bag. I recommend going to your local farmers market or trying to buy organic veggies and fruits and hormone-free/grass-fed meat at the grocery store,” she says. “I personally think learning a few basic skills in the kitchen is super beneficial to your waistline. When you know what goes into your food you are more likely going to make better choices.”
And cool enough, Cosmo even gives us a sample diet we can utilize:
Breakfast: Half of a healthy breakfast burrito of scrambled eggs, chorizo, avocado, rice, and beans; or, full-fat Greek yogurt and granola.
Lunch: A “power salad” of turkey, avocado, beans, with a homemade dressing of red wine vinegar, olive oil, dijon mustard, and lemon juice.
Dinner: Teriyaki bowl with Asian-marinated cucumber, salmon or chicken, avocado, and teriyaki sauce over rice; or sushi.
I’m all about eggs, yogurt, anything teryaki and Asian style, and sushi; so this seems like a diet I can get behind.
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
Thatโs why ourย Academyย Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
Weโve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.ย
For example:ย Dwayne Johnsonย andย Kevin Hartย incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals,ย Hugh Jackman,ย Benedict Cumberbatchย andย Terry Crewsย utilizeย intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well),ย Mustafa Shakirย andย Madelaine Petschย areย vegans,ย Brandon Routhย andย Frank Grilloย opt forย paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, thatโs just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.

Selena Gomez Workout Routine Research
As far as Gomez’s workout routine, she likes to switch it up while staying active.
Like the above points, Gomez’s trainer Rosoff has a few when it comes to training as well.
Here’s what I believe is one of the most important parts of the interview when it comes to Gomez’s training style:
Never let your body get bored. Selena has been doing cardio, Pilates, and yoga of all kinds.
So it looks like Gomez’s training style is fun and diverse, but also one that is accessible to anyone that’s ready to hop into a class setting.
There’s a few more quotes we can take from Amy, though.
Here’s one:
Stretch. A lot.ย Amy stresses the importance of having a limber body and says that becoming more flexible has helped Selena “let go.” Sometimes, Selena will even do a combined stretching and vocal warmup session.
And she goes on to say:
Sweat it out.ย Amy introduced Selena to Shape House, an “urban sweat lodge” where clients lie for 55 minutes in an “infrared burrito” and leave with skin that is “literally glowing,” Amy said. According toย Shape House’s website, one “typical sweat session burns between 800 to 1,600 calories.” Selena loves the process of infrared sweating so much that she has a sweat bag for the road.
I don’t really know how I feel about this, but I’m also naive to the subject of human sweat burritos…
And, I’ll also tell you this: Gomez posts a lot of pics of her hiking and getting outdoors and being active.
So it’s not just jumping into classes, it’s also actively making it a point to put your health first and get moving.
The last thing I’ll share with you from Amy is something that doesn’t help us put a workout routine together, but is something that I believe is good enough and relevant enough to be shared here:
No weighing.ย “I’ve never weighed her,” Amy said. “I don’t believe in scales โ I just don’t think it’s healthy.” But, because she and Selena work so closely together, she can tell when Selena’s body changes or when her clothes fit differently, which they have been. “I can definitely see the difference, and other people can too,” she said. “But ultimately, a body that eats well and works is going to look better because it’s healthy.”
I personally like scales, but sometimes they can have a negative and I realize that.
Find your healthy and happy place and live in it.ย If a scale is something that you’re happier without: get rid of it.

Selena Gomez Workout Routine: Primary Training
Selena’s primary workouts come in the form of: “cardio, Pilates, and yoga”.
For that reason we’ll be looking to get into a Pilates and/or yoga class minimum 3 times a week (that means you can do it more if you’d like).
If you can’t get into a class, you also have the option to throw on a 30-60 minute YouTube video (there’s plenty to choose from) for both yoga and/or Pilates.ย (We even have some Yoga videos and tutorial sessions in The Academy’s Jedi Path)
As for cardio you obviously have a few options:
High Intensity Interval Training (Run 1 min, walk 1 min for 30-60 minutes)
Steady Cardio (Can be varied): Treadmill, Rower, Stair Master and Elliptical are my favorite options for 45-60 minutes
Hiking or Outdoor Activity: Go hiking for at least 30-60 minutes of engage in some sort of sport like tennis or high cardiovascular activity.
Selena Gomez Workout Routine: Secondary Training
Another option I like to give when writing workout routines that revolve around a high activity level and that are, for the most part, cardio-based, is something that Ariana Grande does.
This option is to track your activity and make sure you’re hitting 10,000+ steps a day.
This will help ensure you are staying active enough even when you can’t make it to a class or throw on a video to follow along with.
