It’s bulking season for many of us (thanks to the Holidays as well, I’m sure), and for the others it’s approaching pretty quickly.
I already announced our Behemoth Program which will be our counterpart to our Superhuman System in terms of SHS focusing on a shredded superhero physique and the Behemoth focusing on a MASSIVE superhero physique.
To get us ready for that launch and to also just prep all of our SHJ Army for their bulks, I decided it would be great to do another recap listicle that brings us through some of my favorite bulking workout routines here at SHJ.
And, before I even start I want to get something extremely important out of the way:
- There are FAR more than these 20 I will list that are incredible for bulking within our Workout Database
- While these are amazing for bulking, your bulk and tacking on mass is contingent on a surplus of calories and proper nutrition
That being said, if you are someone who needs to also get their nutrition intact for their bulk then you can also check out our Nutrition Pillars OR even our SHJ Nutrition System that launched this year.
And, all this being said, we have also been starting to see a new category of listicles appear at SHJ that combines a bit of fun style with these workout listicles (although the one you’re currently reading does not exactly fall into that category).
So far we’ve seen:

But, before I start getting way ahead of myself, I do want to tell you a little bit about how I’ll be setting this one up for you.
Normally I’d give you guys a full rundown of the 5-10 or so workouts, celebrities or characters that I’m featuring.
Well, for this one I wanted to give you TWENTY different options so instead I’ll be starting with a top 6 going in and out of different styles and then moving into another 14 options for you guys to take advantage of.
I’ll also be doing my best to weave in and out of celebrities and characters.

THE TOP TWENTY WORKOUTS FOR BULKING UP AND GETTING MASSIVE
NUMBER SIX: VANDAL SAVAGE WORKOUT
Starting with five would likely make more sense in terms of making this list clean, BUT I want to be able to weave in and out of celebrities and character workouts, starting with one of my favorite character routines.
The Vandal Savage Workout is incredible not only because he is so damn powerful, but just because it’s so amazing for so many different aspects.
In order to be like Vandal Savage (like many of the characters we see here at SHJ), you have to be able to do it all.
This routine is PERFECT for bulking up while also being conscious about allowing yourself to continue focusing on your stamina and endurance training that is part of being a superhero.
You’re going to get a wide array of styles that allow you to multi-focus, so prepare for the volume that comes with it.

NUMBER FIVE: JAMES MCAVOY
Next up on the list we start off with our celebrity routines.
I want to slowly progress in difficulty for these celeb workouts so I’m starting off with a super simple low volume but super heavy weight program that James McAvoy utilized for his role in Split.
He wanted to tack on mass so he ate to support a heavy but extremely beginner friendly lifting protocol that is perfect for any of you who aren’t ready to jump into a super complex routine and/or super high volume.
Be ready for your priority to be STRENGTH with this one.

NUMBER FOUR: GORILLA GRODD
Yes, you CAN train like a Gorilla.
The Gorilla Grodd workout follows a nice 5-3-1 program that is absolutely ideal for your next bulk.
If you’re ready to lift heavy while having some enforced progressive overload to keep you hitting personal records, than this is a great routine for you.
While the focus will be building strength and tacking on muscle it also has great accessory movements that enables you to have an extremely well rounded schedule.

NUMBER THREE: MICHAEL B. JORDAN
I feel like I don’t even have to sell this one…
For this one we’re specifically talking about Michael B. Jordan’s routine for Black Panther when he came in as Killmonger looking absolutely JACKED!
We’ve seen our Michael B. Jordan Creed Workout and some other Michael B. Jordan routines (bodyweight, circuit training, etc. that you can look up with the search bar or find in the workout database as well), but for this we’re zooming in on the heavy weights that led to his HUGE transformation.
So the proof is in the transformation with this one. Jordan and his trainer Corey Calliet were very open about his training style, so you have it right from them to take and use for yourself.

NUMBER TWO: ALL MIGHT
You had to know this was going to be a big name hero, right?
Part of me wanted it to be outside of Marvel and DC just because we’ve been seeing the same big name heroes within our other new listicles, BUT when I remember All Might’s routine I knew it was perfect and I was immediately sold.
Instead of going for a more typical reverse pyramid schedule or even 5×5 (which you’ll see both of when I name the other 14 options), we use heavy traditional pyramid training and focus on building the entire routine around our big compound lifts to really round us out and tack on mass while getting super strong.
It also leaves us room to, again, focus in on extra endurance training and open the door to hero training being that All Might is so powerful in other areas.
So you better be ready to go Plus Ultra!

NUMBER ONE: DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON
And now we’re talking about one of the biggest celebrities on this entire website!
Dwayne Johnson trains at an extremely high volume which includes six days a week, a ton of lifting, AND cardio to top that off.
He not only trains to be ginormous, but also lean at that same time.
His routine is the number one all around pick for tacking on mass this bulking season!
