The Fastest DC Characters have a lot of the same characters from our list of The Fastest Superhero Characters of All Time, but with a few characters added.
Honestly, though, this list was harder to list as many of the DC Universe’s fastest were already included in our list of Fastest Superheroes of All Time. Many of these heroes have shown feats of superhuman speed in both the comics and on television.
The characters on this list deserve their slot, but as their respective comic arcs continue to develop, we may see the characters on this list change and maybe even be replaced by faster characters.
While many people would immediately assume that Barry Allen would place number 1 on this list, that actually isn’t the case at all. I was surprised as well. But in order to know who the top slot belongs to, you’ll have to read through the entire list.
We have our DC Inspired Workouts in a mini-database within our larger Superhero Workout Databse and we also have our popular Which DC Superhero Should I Train Like Quiz to help SHJ Army members find the best workout for them. For this list, I searched for lists on CBR, Screenrant, and of course, Fandom.com. Most of the lists actually had almost the entire slate of Flash Family listed, but not all of them were part of the Flash Family. Some may not come as a surprise, but others might come as a complete shock. In any case, it’ll be a neat thing to see who has the top spot in our list. Let’s dive right in, shall we?
As always, leave your comments below if you were expecting other characters!
FASTEST DC CHARACTERS OF ALL TIME
Number Ten: Red Death (Bruce Wayne – Dark Universe)
Hero or Villain: Villain
Starting off our list of The Fastest DC Superhero Characters of All Time we have the Batman from the Dark Universe – Red Death!
After experiencing loss for not being fast enough to save those who he cares most about, Bruce Wayne decided to never be too slow or too late ever again. By using force, he was able to subdue The Flash of his universe and enter the Speed Force with him. As a result, Barry and Bruce were merged into one being – with Barry’s consciousness being trapped inside Bruce’s mind struggling to break free.
After gaining Barry’s speed, Red Death was convinced by The Batman Who Laughs to join the Dark Knights in order to save his world. Red Death fights together with the other Dark Knights to bring about the return of their deity and aid him in his conquest of another Multiverse in return for the reconstruction of Red Death’s universe.

Number Nine: Jay Garrick (The Flash I – Earth-3)
Hero or Villain: Hero
Coming in at number nine on the list of the fastest DC characters of all time is the original Flash – Jay Garrick!
Jay Garrick coming in after Red Death makes sense, as he was the first person to access his speed in the comics. He is also the first one to manipulate the Speed Force and gain super speed. In the early 90s, there was actually a Flash TV show, and Barry Allen was played by John Wesley Shipp (who incidentally plays Jay Garrick in CW’s The Flash).
In the CW’s Arrowverse, Jay Garrick is the speedster whom Hunter Zolomon impersonates in order to “play hero”. After being rescued by Team Flash, he helps them defeat Zolomon and occasionally gives Barry advice when he’s conflicted on what to do.
And not surprisingly, we have a handful of other speedsters still left to see…

Number Eight: The Keeper of the Speed Force (The Flash – Earth-33)
Hero or Villain: Hero
At number eight among the fastest DC characters of all time is our second Flash, and like Jay Garrick, comes from an alternate earth.
Not much is known about this version of the Flash, except that she maintains she is the “Keeper of the Speed Force”. Aside from her speed, she has the ability to steal the kinetic energy of other speedsters and can hurl lightning blasts at her foes.

Number Seven: Black Racer
Hero or Villain: Villain
Next up among our list of the fastest DC characters of all time is Black Racer!
While other speedsters on this list are living beings, Black Racer is actually more of a spiritual entity given form. He is considered Death Itself and has the ability to acquire the speed of dead speedsters and take it back into the Speed Force. However, he is easily outrun by other speedsters in the Flash family.

Number Six: Black Flash
In sixth place on the fastest DC characters of all time is Black Flash. The creature referred to as the Black Flash is an entity created by the Speed Force to function as an anti-body against anything that might harm it. It also functions as the “grim-reaper” of Speed Force conduits, appearing before speedsters when it is time for them to become one with the Speed Force.

Number Five: Earth-22 Flash (Wallace West)
Hero or Villain: Hero
Making it to the top five among the fastest DC characters of all time and the top five among the fastest DC superheroes of all time is an older version of Wally West from Earth-22, otherwise known as the Kingdom Come universe. It has already been established that Wally West is a powerful speedster, but in this universe he is not the fastest speedster there is. However, this speedster has lost the ability to remain still.
According to his wiki page, “After Superman retired, the Flash remained a hero, but he stopped… stopping. He began running instantly from crime scene to crime scene, disaster to disaster, until he became a gale force, patrolling Key Stone City at speeds no human could follow.”

Number Four: Superman (Kal-El/Clark Kent)
Hero or Villain: Hero
Coming in at number four among the fastest DC characters of all time is The Man of Steel, Superman.
Superman is an alien from the planet of Krypton. Thanks to his cells being able to soak in the enriching radiation from Earth’s yellow sun, he has gained many abilities such as super strength, cold breath, super hearing, and heat vision. However, the skill we are interested in here is Superman’s speed.
He is considered to be the 4th fastest character in the entire DC universe, beating out other speedsters and other heroes to be in the Top 5. Superman has been shown to effortlessly keep pace with Barry Allen and in the original Superman movie, was even shown to be able to turn back time to save Lois Lane by encircling the earth at superhuman speeds.

Number Three: Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne)
Hero or Villain: Villain
What is a hero without his villain? For The Flash, that villain will always be Eobard Thawne. Barry Allen has many rogues in gallery of enemies, but none are as dangerous as the Reverse Flash. Thawne comes from the future, and in that future, he and Barry have been fighting each other for years.
What makes Thawne so dangerous is that he has future knowledge The Flash doesn’t even know yet, and that he gained his speed from the Negative Speed Force. Still, at each and every turn, Barry always comes out on top eventually – despite Thawne doing his best to put down his nemesis.

Number Two: The Flash II (Barry Allen Earth-1)
Hero or Villain: Hero
Coming in at number two among the fastest DC characters of all time (and also listed as number five in the fastest superheroes of all time) is the most popular version of The Flash – Barry Allen himself! Barry gained his speed when he was struck by lightning after a particle accelerator explosion in Central City.
I should make a point to say: Barry Allen is the most well-known speedster of all time.
Even if he is no longer the fastest man alive, he still has impressive speed and still is able to match the many villains that threaten his city. In the CW’s The Flash, he is much faster than before thanks to the combined energy from the newly formed forces within the Speed Force. He is even shown to be faster than Reverse Flash, who has previously said that he will always be faster than Barry. (sorry, Eobard)
The Flash at SHJ:
Number One: The Flash III (Wally West Earth-1)
Hero or Villain: Hero
Coming in at number one among the fastest DC characters of all time is the third person to take the mantle of the Flash – Wally West! Wally has been trained by both Barry Allen and Jay Garrick. All this speedster experience culminates in him becoming faster than both his mentors and even beats The Flash in a race.
While many fans have contested whether Wally is deserving of his title as “The Fastest Man Alive” it was recently confirmed in Flash Forward #1 when Barry Allen openly admits that Wally is faster than he is. While running after
Would you place Wally West at number one or does Barry give him a run for her money?
Who else would you pull from the honorable mentions to bring up to this list?
