Avatar: The Last Airbender has quickly become one of the most popular shows on the entire site.
The Avatar Universe has joined anime like DBZ, Naruto, and MHA with it’s own Mini Workout Database full of Avatar: The Last Airbender Inspired Workouts.
With that we’ve also been prioritizing listicles that help The SHJ Army find awesome workout routines now that we have more than 1,000 workout routines inside our Workout Database.
To spice it up I have started doing listicles that are based around the most popular and the most powerful characters from different universes and genres instead of building lists strictly around the style of workout routine.
We’ve seen some others like:
- The Best Anime to Watch on Hulu
- The Most Powerful Anime Characters of All Time
- The Most Powerful Superheroes of All Time
- The Most Powerful Dragon Ball Characters of All Time
- The Most Popular My Hero Academia Characters of All Time
And the list goes on and on, but I think that should suffice to get you started in some of our awesome lists other than this one.
With that said: this list is being built around the popularity of characters from different ranking sites, votes from fans, and other lists of the top characters from Avatar.
That means I won’t be basing any of the order [of this list] around the workout routines inspired by the characters, my own biasness towards the characters, or anything outside of fan popularity of the favorite characters (including the amount of requests that have come in for each of the characters).
Either way, I want to hear from you! Is this similar to how you would rank the top ten Avatar characters of all time?
TOP TEN AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER CHARACTERS OF ALL TIME
Bonus: Tenzin
Show: The Legend of Korra
Ethnicity: Air Nomad / Water Tribe
Tenzin is the youngest child of Aang and Katara and also the oldest Airbender from The Legend of Korra.
Tenzin also teaches Korra Airbending after she successfully trains in the other three elements, and we learn a fair amount about him. He’s also extremely powerful and has other abilities that not only make him a great and fun character in the Avatar Universe, but also a great character to build a workout around.

Number Ten: Ty Lee
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Fire Nation
It’s hard not to love Ty Lee. If it were up to me I would have even put her closer to the top five Avatar characters of all time, BUT I’m still happy she makes the top ten.
The acrobatic, awesome Fire Nation member of Team Avatar also makes a great character to build a routine around.

Number Nine: Lin Beifong
Show: The Legend of Korra
Ethnicity: Earth Kingdom
The Beifong family shows up multiple times on this list, but the first is Lin. Lin is arguably one of the top three most badass women in Avatar, and that’s saying something considering how many awesome ladies there are.
She’s the Chief of Police in Republic City, and also daughter of Toph Beifong, and super powerful. She’s not necessarily the best character to build a routine around, but she is definitely a fan favorite for good reason.

Number Eight: Azula
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Fire Nation
Speaking of badass women in Avatar…there’s no denying how badass Azula is.
Zuko’s sister and daughter of The Fire Lord Ozai, Azula does NOT mess around. She is a key “villain” of the series going against Team Avatar, but also easily one of the fan favorites as well.
Her routine was requested COUNTLESS times after we saw some of the other frontrunners.

Number Seven: Sokka
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Water Tribe
Everyone loves Sokka. Even though he misses the top five while being one of the main characters for the entire duration of Avatar: The Last Airbender and a main character of Team Avatar; he does have Legend of Korra characters to go against, so he really JUST misses it.

Number Six: Toph Beifong
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Earth Kingdom
Next up is Toph Beifong, mother of Lin Biefong (who we saw at number nine) and an earthbending master.
She is also the bender who discovered metalbending AND is said to be one of the most powerful Earthbenders of her time.
Toph, also blind, overcame that by developing many different abilities that made her powers surpass most other benders.

Number Five: Uncle Iroh
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Fire Nation
Uncle Iroh is everyone’s favorite Uncle…let’s be honest.
I knew Iroh was going to come in at the top five, I just wasn’t sure if he was going to come in the top three and beat out a bunch of Team Avatar as well.
Uncle Iroh’s prison training scene was requested as inspiration for a workout routine more than we had Aang and Korra requested for a while, and he is a CLEAR fan favorite in Avatar.

Number Four: Katara
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Water Tribe
Coming in at number four, Katara was actually a character that came it at a wide range of different numbers among the voters and rankings.
Some people love her and put her in the top three characters of all time, and some voters and rankings have her just barely making the top ten.
If it were up to me I’d have her close to right where she ends up landing, making the top five, but missing the top three Avatar Characters of All Time.

Number Three: Aang
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Air Nomad
Aang had to make the top three, but there are a couple characters that come in above him as the fan favorites and the most popular Avatar Characters of All Time.
That being said: The Last Airbender, and main character of the show deserves his spot in the top three; and also our first character with a workout inspired on the series as well.

Number Two: Zuko
Show: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ethnicity: Fire Nation
Zuko is actually the most popular character from Avatar: The Last Airbender and it was very clear he was a fan favorite just based on the requests for a routine inspired on his character alone.
I can tell why, having watched the show, but it’s overwhelming how many people agree; from fan votes and rankings, to other polls and everyone else who has an opinion.

Number One: Korra
Show: The Legend of Korra
Ethnicity: Water Tribe
Easily the most badass female character in The Avatar Universe, the most popular, and a fan favorite here at SHJ when it comes to training inspiration: Korra comes in at number one on the list.
And you know what? If you don’t like it, she’d probably tell you that you gotta deal with it!

But I’d also love to hear who YOU think should be on this list!
