The Most Powerful My Hero Academia Students of All Time keep changing slightly as we learn more and more about the characters; but there are a handful that make it to the top regardless.
We’ve been LOVING My Hero Academia and I’ve been leading us up to this second list of the most powerful characters.
Originally we saw a handful of other listicles, including a most powerful list not involving the students, but I knew I had a few more to bring to our new My Hero Academia Inspired Workout Database before I felt comfortable making a list for them as well.
Here’s a few of those other MHA lists we’ve seen:
- The Most Powerful My Hero Academia Characters of All Time
- The Top Five Ranked Pro Heroes in My Hero Academia
- Top 10 My Hero Academia Inspired Workouts
These lists are not only super fun, but they also help you guys find characters we’ve built routines based on that you may have otherwise not noticed were in our Anime Workouts Database.
For this list I’m going to be keeping out any of my own personal biases towards these characters and completely basing it on outside rankings on power levels from a handful of different sources.
Obviously there are a few students we’re seeing more of in the new episodes that might eventually need to be wrapped into this list, but for now this is a tentative list of the most powerful students in all of My Hero Academia, from all different classes at U.A. High School.
I’m also sure we’re going to have a ton of other MHA characters show up here, but if you’re an anime lover, here are some more awesome listicles you may like:
- The Most Powerful Anime Characters of All Time
- The Most Powerful Dragon Ball Characters of All Time
- The Top Ten Most Popular Anime of All Time
That’s enough hype, though; let’s get into the list!
As always, leave your comments below if you were expecting other characters!
MOST POPULAR MY HERO ACADEMIA CHARACTERS
Number Ten: Tenya Iida
Quirk:Â Engine
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Ingenium
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Tenya’s Quirk gives him car-like engines in each of his calves, giving him incredible running speed and extreme kicking power. Tenya needs to fuel his engines by drinking orange juice.”
Bonus Information: Tenya Iida comes from a family of heroes, and his older brother was the original Ingenium, but Tenya took the name after he was nearly killed by the Hero Killer: Stain.
Tenya Iida at SHJ:
Number Nine: Hitoshi Shinso
Quirk:Â Brainwashing
Class: 1-C
Hero Name: None Yet
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Hitoshi’s Quirk allows him to put someone in a state where they are forced to obey whatever he commands. He can only activate this power when his target verbally responds to something he says. Brainwashing needs to be intentionally activated and will not take effect if Hitoshi doesn’t want it to.”
Bonus information: Shinso is not attempting to join the hero course and become a pro hero and has been training to do so with new gear like his voice changing mask and also Binding Cloth like we see used by Eraser Head!

Number Eight: Kirishima
Quirk:Â Hardening
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Red Riot
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Eijiro’s Quirk gives him the power to harden and sharpen any or all parts of his body, causing his flesh to become jagged and rock-like. There is a limit to how much damage his hardened body can withstand, which causes the Hardening itself to slowly dissipate, and Eijiro to lose stamina from struggling to keep his Quirk active. However, when he battled Kendo Rappa, Eijiro displayed the ability to refortifiy his hardened body.”
Kirishima at SHJ:
Number Seven: Tokoyami
Quirk:Â Dark Shadow
Hero Name: Jet Black Hero: Tsukuyomi
Quirk Description from Wiki: ” Fumikage’s Quirk allows him to manifest a sentient shadow monster from his body that he can materialize and contract freely. Dark Shadow’s energy is limited and can be drained by bright light. When it runs out of energy, Dark Shadow retracts back into Fumikage’s body.”
Bonus information: His Wiki states things like “Fumikage has continually shown to be one of the strongest members of Class 1-A, equaling, and sometimes surpassing the likes of Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki.” and “Fumikage’s abilities have received praise from several prominent and notably powerful characters, including the likes of All Might, Hawks, Izuku, Shoto, and Fat Gum.”
Tokoyami at SHJ:
Number Six: Shoto Todoroki
Quirk:Â Half-Cold Half-Hot
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Shoto
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Shoto’s Quirk gives him the ability to generate ice from the right side of his body, and flames from his left side.”
Bonus information: Todoroki’s father is Endeavor, the now (post All Might’s retirement) number one ranked hero in the world. His Wiki builds on this by telling us about his motivation to become the number one hero in spite of his father, but they also mention: “Due to years of rejecting his father, Shoto has developed a habit of favoring ice, even when fire would be a better option. This grudge also caused him to have difficulty controlling his flames. While he is capable of using both elements simultaneously, he isn’t used to doing this and still needs to practice dual-wielding. While training for his ultimate move, he claimed that using both abilities at the same time slows him down.”
Shoto Todoroki at SHJ:

Number Five: Bakugo
Quirk:Â Explosion
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Katsuki’s Quirk allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the palms of his hands and ignite it on command, allowing him to create strong explosions. The more Katsuki sweats, the stronger his explosions become. If Katsuki overuses this power, his forearms will start to ache.”
Bonus information: Bakugo might be a hot head and seem like he goes off the rails at times, but he is extremely strong and just as motivated to be the number one hero.
Bakugo at SHJ:
Number Four: Izuku Midoriya
Quirk:Â All For One
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Deku
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Transferred to him from Toshinori Yagi, Izuku’s Quirk allows him to stockpile an enormous amount of raw power, allowing him to significantly enhance all of his physical abilities to a superhuman level. This results in unbelievable levels of strength, speed, stamina, agility, and durability.”
Bonus information: With proper training Deku has the ability to some day be as strong as All Might, if not stronger. For now, though, he finds himself in need of training to be able to continue learning how to withstand through the usage of his overpowerful Quirk!
Deku at SHJ:

Number Three: Nejire Hado
Quirk:Â Wave Motion
Class:Â 3-A
Hero Name: Nejire Chan
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Nejire’s Quirk grants her the ability to convert her own vitality into energy and release it in the form of exceptionally powerful spiral shockwaves. Since the energy travels in a spiral, it’s not very fast. Overusing this Quirk will cause Nejire to suffer from great exhaustion, due to it using her own stamina as a power source.”
Bonus information: “Nejire is one of U.A. High School’s most powerful students alongside Mirio and Tamaki, who are all collectively known as The Big 3. Like the rest of the Big 3, Nejire’s abilities can rival or even surpass that of most Pro Heroes.”
Nejire Hado at SHJ:
Number Two: Tamaki Amajiki
Quirk: Manifest
Class:Â 3-A
Hero Name: Suneater
Quirk Description from Wiki: “Tamaki’s Quirk grants him the ability to manifest the physical characteristics of anything he’s eaten; for example, if he eats takoyaki, he can transform his fingers into octopus tentacles. Additionally, anything he manifests is significantly stronger than normal, as seen by how his crab claws were easily able to crush metal weapons. The more of a substance Tamaki eats, the stronger his manifestation will be.”
Bonus information: “Tamaki has proven his strength on multiple occasions. He was able to effortlessly neutralize dangerous villains before having his Quirk temporarily erased. Tamaki’s mettle was proven when he faced off against Toya Setsuno, Yu Hojo, and Soramitsu Tabe of the Eight Bullets in a 3-on-1 fight, and was confident that he could take on the Yakuza trio by himself.”
Tamaki Amajiki at SHJ:

Number One: Mirio Togata
Quirk:Â Permeation
Class:Â 3-A
Hero Name: Lemillion
Quirk Description from Wiki: ” Mirio’s Quirk allows him to become intangible, letting him pass through any tangible matter; he can phase through walls and/or the ground, as well as let enemy attacks pass through him harmlessly. If he returns to his solid state while phasing through something, his body will be repelled outward. While intangible, he experiences a falling sensation because he still has mass, and everything passes through him, including light, sound, and air; meaning, while his Quirk is active, he can’t see, hear, or breathe.”
Bonus information: Mirio was originally the first choice to be All Might’s successor and the one to inherent All For One, before he met Deku!
