Want to know the great part about having new voices on the site?
You know, aside from having fresh voices other than mine (Mike), and coming up with fresh character ideas like this Edelgard workout?
They also bring awesome new character-specific fun.
For example, this is a contributed article from SHJ Army member Eric, and when you come to the actual workout you’ll find some super-fun “timeskip” functionality within your routine.
Having only played about a half an hour of Fire Emblem Three Houses on my Nintendo Switch during a road trip down to Florida from New York (before switching to Pokemon, of course), I would have never been able to come up with that on my own.
So cheers to Eric and this awesome routine, and idea!

Edelgard Stats:
Height: 5’2
Weight: N/A
Real Name: Edelgard von Hresvelg
Powers: Yes
Edelgard is one of the shorter characters featured on the site.
Though, she’s not THE shortest character we’ve seen.
Supergirl and Erza Scarlet were our shortest at 5’5 before Wasp came in at 5’4 and Kale, Anna and Nina Williams matching her there. BUT, now we have Caulifla at 4’8 and Sailor Moon at 4’11! Katana is just behind her at 5’2.
We had Wonder Woman come in standing 6’0 tall, Mockingbird and Hawkgirl at 5’9, Mystique, Miss Martian, and Sonya Blade at 5’10, and Storm 5’11.
But the average height for female celebrities on the site is generally more-so ranging from 5’4-5’6 – and our Black Widow is just above that at 5’7 with Spider-Gwen, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy at 5’8.
And, the tallest we’d seen before She-Hulk was Starfire at 6’4!
But don’t worry, either way.
Not only are these routines for all shapes and sizes – they also work for both men and women – regardless of the gender of the hero!

Edelgard Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hulk may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Edelgard Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
For those of you who don’t know much about Edelgard, or would like some additional background information, here’s what her Fire Emblem Wiki page tells us as an initial snippet for her bio. Please be aware that there are spoilers for the game below!
Edelgard was born the ninth child of Emperor Ionius IX of the Adrestian Empire. In Imperial Year 1171, Edelgard was taken to Faerghus by her uncle, Lord Arundel, and she quickly befriended her maternal stepbrother Dimitri. When she returned to the Empire in 1174, he gave her a dagger as a parting gift. At some point in her childhood, she and all ten of her siblings were imprisoned by a conspiracy of nobles including Arundel, Duke Aegir, and Lord von Vestra, with Ionius IX helpless to stop them. The siblings were subjected to horrific experimentation in order to implant them with the Crest of Flames, and ultimately Edelgard was the sole survivor and successful test subject. Developing a hatred of the Crest system that had dominated Fódlan for a millennium, Edelgard swore to destroy the Crests and the Church of Seiros which upheld their power by any means necessary and unite Fódlan under the Adrestian banner to create world peace.
If you’ve played through Fire Emblem: Three Houses you probably already know some of this information.
Edelgard’s abilities are highly dependent upon how the player trains her. For the purposes of this workout, we are going to go with her strengths and her maximum potential stats as our baseline. We will also use support scene references to back up some her in-game abilities:
- Axe: Edelgard’s favored weapon is the axe and always carries one into combat with her. She is extremely proficient with the weapon and is capable of wielding all types of axes that she comes across.
- Authority: Like all of the lord characters, Edelgard is able to command her subjects and her armies. She is a person who has an air of authority about her and people accept her commands both because they respect her and because they wish to please her.
- Crest of Seiros: Edelgard wields a Minor Crest of Seiros. Crests provide various abilities to their owner and are heredity. Not all members of a bloodline will have a crest, but those that do, especially in noble houses, are raised up in society. Crests come in both Major and Minor versions. The Minor Crest of Seiros will sometimes slightly raise Edelgard’s combat damage.
- Heavy Armor: Edelgard, despite being a princess, considers herself a warrior and is fully proficient in heavy armor. She is capable of executing dexterous moves and marching long distances while wearing medieval-style heavy armor.
- Magic: Edelgard, despite generally being considered a melee-focused character, is above-average in her magical strength. She has the fifth highest maximum magical stat in the game. She is capable of learning fire and dark magic as well as some basic healing magic.
- Strength: Edelgard packs an incredible amount of strength in her 5’2″ frame. She is the second strongest character in the game according to the stats, losing out only to Dimitri. At the start of the game, she has the highest starting strength value in the game at Level 1. She is capable of defeating monsters on her own at the age of 17. She regularly enters combat and wields an axe larger than herself with one hand and a large shield in her off-hand. Her critical strikes, in her post-timeskip classes, show her leaping more than five feet in the air while clad in full armor to strike an enemy hard enough with an axe that the ground shatters with the impact. While some of her strength can be attributed to her crest, most of it is the result of a highly focused and intense training program.
- Sword: Edelgard’s secondary weapon is the sword. She is not as proficient in this weapon as the axe but is still capable of fighting off enemies with it.
- Throwing: Edelgard is perfectly capable of using throwing axes, hatchets, etc… as well.
We can’t give you magic, but we can help you push your limitations past what you thought you could do.
This workout will focus on building your muscular endurance and strength by focusing on two body parts per day. There will also be daily core work and cardio to help you swing an axe around and march endlessly through the night towards your next battle. There will be two versions of this workout, in fact. One is for a pre-timeskip Edelgard and one is for after she has attained her full power.

Edelgard Workout Routine
Training Volume:
6+ days per week
Explanation:
Like Edelgard, we’re training for strength and endurance. While Edelgard doesn’t talk much about her training routine in the game, we can determine that, based on her in-game abilities, the support conversations she has with other characters and her expectations of exceptionalism that her workouts are focused and extensive.
As the game features a timeskip, this workout has two versions of the workout. If you want to perform the easier pre-timeskip workout, perform the exercises written in black. If you want to perform the more difficult post-timeskip workout, add in the exercises written in red.

Edelgard Workout: Martial Arts Resources
If you have access to a place to perform weapons training of some sort, you should practice that on a regular basis. To truly embody Edelgard, you’d want to find a place to train axe combat, but sword training is likely easier to find and is the other canon weapon she is particularly good at. The only combat style she is actively not good at is archery, however, so any hand-to-hand combat style is something she could excel at with enough work. There are a number of martial arts routines you might consider incorporating on SHJ as well:
