Staying in theme with what we’ve been sticking to the last few weeks, this will be a listicle of the top calisthenics workouts – routines you can do from home – that we have at SHJ.
I’m formatting it as a “Top 10” list, but really I will be giving you my favorites, and most effective on the site, while jumping between character and celebrity routines.
So, while it is the Top 10, keep in mind that I am purposely jumping back and forth through the routines in order to make it fun for everyone.
Another great resource to utilize with this routine is our new Ultimate Calisthenics Workout Routine & Guide. That compiles tons and tons of resources from all over the site that help with scaling your calisthenics, getting better at them, the ultimate workout routine built on five different levels of progression AND a compilation of our calisthenics workouts.
I mean, it doesn’t get much better than that.
But nevertheless, I will share SOME of the resources that can be found in that article:
- How to get better at Pull Ups, Push Ups, Dips, Squats and Calisthenics
- Pull Up Alternatives: How To Get Better at Pull Ups With, or Without Equipment
And, if you enjoy listicles like this one, we’ve been seeing them more and more at SHJ and you can check out our Workout Listicles category to find more workout lists that are designed to help you sort through our Workout Database.
Our Workout Database has categories that are extremely helpful, but with the most comprehensive workout database on the internet it can be hard to find everyone.
That’s also why you’ll find search bars all over the site :P.
We’ve also devoted some listicles to workout gear as well, but with the popularity of the last handful of workout listicles I figured we should keep it going.
Our most recent listicles revolves around things like:
- The Avengers Celebrity and Character Workouts
- 20 Star Wars Celeb + Character WorkoutsÂ
- The Top Superhero, Anime and Video Game Inspired Character Workouts…Ever!
- The Top Diets Used Among Celebrities
- The Top 10 Young Justice Workout Routines
- 50+ CW Network Celebrity Workout Routines
The first and last one were pretty big…but they’re all awesome.
And, I’m sure you’re now dying to get on with the listicle, if you even made it here (I’d have to guess 75% or more didn’t); so thank you for reading and let’s do this thing.
Starting with number one….
Number One: Jason Statham Workout
Jason Statham’s workout has always been at the top of our list when it comes to bodyweight training.
He was even the main inspiration for our Bodyweight Book.
If you want to step it up a notch and train to become anything like Jason Statham you’ll definitely need a pull-up bar for this one (and likely most of the workouts we see within this article; but I advice skipping the bar-scaling and jumping straight into it for this one – even if that means using an assist band).
The routine follows a perfect mix of calisthenics broken down into a regular straight set break down, followed up by awesome circuits to really get the intensity up.
I would also suggest grabbing either a speed rope (what I personally grab) or a jump rope (recommended for beginners) for this one as well.
You can sub them with jumping jacks and other movements if you really need to, but having a jump rope in your arsenal is definitely a good idea.

Number Two: Yoda Workout Routine
I mean, Jason Statham and Yoda within the same workout routine listicle…you can’t beat it.
Yoda’s workout is coming in at number two on the list not only because it’s a character inspired workout and I’m jumping back and forth, but also because I think it is one of the most unique and fun workout routines we have in the entire category.
But if you’re not looking for unique and you’re mainly set out for effectiveness first and foremost, there’s plenty more to choose from.
Yoda’s routine blends calisthenics with meditation, mind building, and even some fun light saber training.
So if you’re looking to train anything like the Jedi Master, I definitely suggest it..

Number Three: Stephen Amell Workout
Stephen Amell’s workout has always been a fan favorite among The SHJ Army.
Amell has starred as The Green Arrow for eight incredible seasons and started off the building of our Arrowverse at The CW.
You can actually see over 50 CW Network Stars Workout Routines in this list.
He has also starred as Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and even made guest appearances in the WWE and American Ninja Warrior!
I guess that salmon ladder he’s famous for really get’s people motivated, huh?
The article actually has TWO Stephen Amell workout routines being that Amell switched up his training a bit over the years; but the first routine is completely calisthenics and bodyweight training.
It’s composed of five different training days that are built around: abs, chest, legs, arms and back.Â
And don’t worry, your shoulder inherently get worked in the majority of the movements you’ll be using.

Number Four: Nightrunner Workout
Nightrunner is a character who is built around parkour.
For that reason his workout routine is coming in at number four on the list.
We share his workout as a parkour resource in tons of workouts all over the site because it’s not only a breakdown into calisthenics, but it’s also a step by step guide into the world of parkour, written by our Academy member Felix.
It’s actually so popular I decided to do another parkour inspired routine recently: The Assassin’s Creed Workout.
And, even after having The Nightrunner Workout this long, Nightrunner still comes in on top.
Nightrunner as a character is also really cool. He using his acrobatic skills in conjunction with his mixed martial arts (which he learned while training with his mentor, and with Batman), he fights crime within Paris, and was then recruited by Batman as Batman in Paris.

Number Five: Arnold Schwarzenegger Home Workout
For those of you who did not know we had this at SHJ, I know there’s no way you could have seen it coming.
When you think of Arnold Schwarzenegger you will usually automatically think of weightlifting and, of course, Bodybuilding.
That generally goes without saying.
So to pair him with a calisthenics workout seems out of the ordinary, BUT, it’s actually HIS calisthenics workout that HE shared with people during the COVID-19 scare.
He actually initially shared it on Reddit so that everyone can get their workouts in at home while most gyms closed their doors; but then it made it’s way through the internet like wildfire, with it landing on SHJ with some extra resources from other articles we’ve seen on Schwarzenegger in the past.
Like his regular workout routine, and his top performer article.
If you’d like to continue getting your Arnold on, while training from home, here you go!

Number Six: Black Canary Workout
This Black Canary workout routine is actually fairly new.
We recently saw a bunch of Birds of Prey characters to pair with our listicle and the movie release.
Fittingly enough, though, we have our Green Arrow in Stephen Amell, and now we have our Black Canary who has been portrayed with some of the most amazing celebrity females we’ve seen on the site.
Like Katie Cassidy, Juliana Harkavy and Jurnee Smollett-Bell.
I did my best to embody all of them in this; and of course, their rockin’ physiques as well.
Each and every one of them have incredible bodies, so it only makes sense for their character workout to step it up a notch.
Another cool part of this routine is the fact that I was able to include portions of training from female gymnasts like Shawn Johnson and Alicia Sacramone!
You can check out the full workout here:
Number Seven: Mark Consuelos Workout Routine
This one may come as a surprise if you’ve been an SHJ Army member for a while.
And I don’t mean that in the sense that if you’ve seen the routine you wouldn’t expect it to make the list; I mean if you were just judging it based on the names of our celebrities alone.
But this routine is INTENSE and incredible.
Consuelos trains with trainer Alex Fine who has also worked with KJ Apa, Charles Melton, Cole Sprouse, Joe Keery and more!
Consuelos’ routine is based around workouts that specifically came from Fine’s Instagram and other sources that he has shared.
We even have our Hollywood Secrets Boot Camp Program based off of CW Stars training similar to this.

Number Eight: Aang Workout Routine
Who wouldn’t want to train like The Last Airbender?
The Avatar himself: Aang!
I recently started watching Avatar: The Last Airbender around the time I wrote out Aang Workout Routine and Korra Workout Routine and I’m already hooked.
And yes, that’s also my way of saying you should keep an eye out for more Avatar workout routines to hit the site.
Aang’s routine is super fun, which I did purposely because of the audience that would be coming in looking for an Aang workout, but also because Avatar (as a show) and Aang (as a character) are also both super fun as well.
So if you’re looking to train like The Avatar (or The Last Airbender), Aang’s routine is definitely for you.

Number Nine: Mike Tyson Calisthenics Workout Routine
This workout routine is extremely high volume.
Almost every single source that talks about Mike Tyson’s daily calisthenics training uses the words “rumored”, “crazy, “insane”, “brutal”, “unreal”, or some adjective meaning the same to describe it.
Rumored is the one that seems more fitting considering the amount of training he was doing that specifically went towards boxing styled training as well.
BUT, that will not stop us from sharing the routine.
This routine, whether rumored or not, is the one that has been most shared among the sources that are talking about the legendary Tyson’s training regime.
If you’re looking for super high volume, extreme intensity, and a kill workout that will have you walking the path of a boxing legend, well you’ve come to the right place.

Number Ten: Puck Workout Routine
This is the most recent character inspired workout that I’ve written prior to writing this listicle.
As I said earlier, we’re currently sticking to a bodyweight and calisthenics training theme, so I’ve stepped it up a notch on the research and began incorporating a lot of fun outside resources for calisthenics, gymnastics and bodyweight training.
Similar to how I incorporated training from Shawn Johnson and Alicia Sacramone in Black Canary’s workout!
Well Puck is a bada*s.
So I decided he was the perfect acrobat character to break out some more gymnast style training for.
He’s also a dwarf, somehow even shorter than I am, with a sick beard; so his character also had an unfair advantage in that sense.
For Puck’s routine I added Paul Ruggeri, a former Team USA gymnast’s morning warm up to every single calisthenics based training day! Which, if you’re wondering, is three days a week; and the “morning warm up” feels more like a “oh my god this is so much longer than my regular workout!”
And then there are two more days per week devoted to flexibility, holds (like L-Sits, and static holds), and cardio.
I dare you to take this one on!

Bonus: The Ultimate Calisthenics Workout & Guide
I couldn’t end this list without sharing this one again.
Not only is this one a workout that comes with five levels or progression, but it’s also completely free, and compiled of all the calisthenics and bodyweight resources on the site.
I will also be updating in for the duration of our bodyweight and calisthenics themed training so you can go back to it to find any new calisthenics workouts (now, or in the future).
If you have questions about scaling up, scaling down, alternative exercises, or anything else that is calisthenics related that would have been answered here at SHJ, this is the source you want to be using to find it.
You can check out the full article here:
The Ultimate Calisthenics Workout & Guide
That’s all she wrote for this one.
Again, if you want consistent updates on our bodyweight and calisthenics workouts you can use the workout and guide I linked to above, or you can continue to keep an eye out within our Workout Database.
We also currently have an article on The Top 8 Inexpensive Options For Your Home Gym if you’re looking to step it up a notch!
