The Most Popular One Piece Characters of All Time share a handful of the same members as we saw among our most powerful One Piece characters – but there are some fan-favorites that make the two list very different.
One Piece is one of the most popular anime of all time and you guys have been wanting more and more characters added into our One Piece Inspired Workouts Database and larger Anime Workouts Database.
So, on top of the fact that this list is a great way to also help you find some of your favorite One Piece characters and the workouts they’ve inspired – it’s also a great way for me to have a nice ranking of who we should see next.

In order to build this list out I actually pulled from three very specific different sources.
I am going to be blending our most popular One Piece characters by meshing the One Piece Wiki Fandom, Bounding Into Comics and their Top 100 Character List, and the top 10 fan-favorites from MyAnimeList!
This should give us a pretty good set of characters, especially when I tie in a handful of runner-ups at the end as well.

MOST POPULAR ONE PIECE CHARACTERS OF ALL TIME
Number Ten: Shanks
Affiliation: Red Hair Pirates / Four Emperors
Occupation: Pirate Chief
Coming in at number ten among our list of the most popular One Piece characters of all time is Shanks!
Shanks is a member of the Yonko, AKA The Four Emporers, like Big Mom, Kaido, Blackbeard and Whitebeard – and he’s also the leader of the Red Hair Pirates!
Shanks is Luffy’s mentor, which is one of the reasons he’s one of the most popular characters – but he also came in at number four among the most powerful as well!

Number Nine: Sabo
Affiliation: Revolutionary Army
Occupation: Chief of Staff
Next up, at number nine on our list of the most popular One Piece characters, is Sabo!
Sabo just misses his placement on the list of the most powerful One Piece characters, where he came in at number eight.
Sabo actually placed quite high on some of the Wiki Fandom polls and within the top ten in the popularity contest BIC shared from Shueisha – but he did not actually make it into the top ten on MyAnimeList’s favorites!

Number Eight: Portgas D. Ace
Affiliation: Whitebeard Pirates
Occupation: 2nd Division Commander
At number eight, with easy placement among the most popular One Piece characters, Portgas D. Ace joins the list.
Ace didn’t make it onto our list of the most powerful, but he did show up in the runner up section.
Ace is son of Gol D. Roger, and adopted by Monkey D. Garp – both of which came in high slots among our most powerful One Piece characters of all time – and he was also 2nd Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and former captain of the Spade Pirates!

Number Seven: Boa Hancock
Affiliation: Kuja Pirates
Occupation: Pirate Captain
At number seven on our list of the most popular One Piece characters we have Boa Hancock!
Boa Hancock, also known as “Pirate Empress” is the captain of The Kuja Pirates, and was the only female Warlord of the Sea prior the the disbandment of the entire organization.
Along with her already awesome nickname, she’s also known as the “Snake Princess” of Amazon Lily and rules over the Kuja tribe with her two younger Boa/Gorgon sisters. She is also the main antagonist the entire Amazon Lily Arc, which is what brought her a ton of the popularity she brings to this list.

Number Six: Nico Robin
Affiliation: Strawhat Pirates
Occupation: Archeologist
Just missing the top five most popular One Piece characters of all time is Nico Robin.
Another powerful and awesome female on our list, and another one coming, Nico Robin is also known as “Devil Child” or “Light of the Revolution” and she is an archeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates!
Robin actually made it to the top four most popular One Piece characters on MyAnimeList’s list, but was at number six on the newer list where a few other characters we’ll see below moved up a few slots.

Number Five: Trafalgar Law
Affiliation: Heart Pirates
Occupation: Captain / Doctor / Pirate
Starting our top five most popular One Piece characters of all time is Trafalgar Law!
Trafalgar Law trained and worked under Donquiote, who didn’t quote make our popular list (he’s in the runner ups), but both characters did extremely well, coming in at thirteen (Law), and fourteen (Doflamingo).
On top of training with Donquixote Law also ate the Ope Ope no Mi Devil Fruit – making him insanely powerful and known for stealing peoples hearts to take control over them.
Law is also one of the most popular and overall influential characters in the entire series and I’ve seen him rank as high as the top five on some lists of the most powerful One Piece Characters.
Trafalgar Law at SHJ:

Number Four: Sanji
Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates
Occupation: Cook / Pirate
Next up, coming in as one of our most popular One Piece characters ever, is Sanji!
Sanji came in at number fifteen among our most powerful, which I had extended because there are so many dang powerful characters in One Piece, but he does much better when we rank them based on popularity!
Throughout the course of One Piece Sanji just constantly grows in power and is one of the Straw Hat’s three main fighters behind Luffy and Zoro!

Number Three: Nami
Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates
Occupation: Navigator
Coming in within the top three most popular One Piece characters of all time is Nami!
Nami is the third member of the crew, and second to join – so fans get to know her quite well as the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Nami wasn’t on our list of the most powerful like we see from a handful of other characters on this list, but she holds a ton of weight in the popularity section – especially over time. She did not make the lists top five based on MyAnimeList’s earlier report, but then came in at number three among Shueisha’s later poll!

Number Two: Zoro
Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates
Occupation: Swordsman / Pirate
Coming in at number two among the most popular One Piece characters of all time is the man that wants to surpass the Strongest Swordsman in the World (Mihawk): Zoro!
Zoro is formerly a bounty hunter, and he is the first to join the Straw Hat Pirates and quickly among the most popular characters in the show – never losing that slot.
We’ve now seen Zoro a few times at SHJ, and he’s one of my favorite characters to build routines around.

Coming in at number one among the most popular One Piece characters of all time is Monkey D. Luffy!
There was no denying this one: Luffy came in at number one across the board of every single poll and list I saw, and essentially every country that polls were taken is as well.
He’s powerful, he’s awesome, he’s motivating, he’s funny, he’s the main character – it’s hard to compete with that – which will make Luffy the obvious choice for our fan-favorite and most popular character on all of One Piece.
