It’s time to learn how Pablo Schreiber became Master Chief!
You guys might recognize Pablo Schreiber from Orange Is The New Black, but since then he has made waves with tons of awesome roles like American Gods, Defending Jacob, The King’s Daughter, and of course: Halo!
So how exactly do you go from “Pornstache” to Master Chief?
That’s what we’re looking to breakdown in this article. And we’re lucky enough to have a ton of information right from Schreiber himself.
Schreiber is the newest member of our Celebrity Workouts Database, but you guys sent in a ton of requests for a handful of celebrities that we’re going to be tackling in the next few weeks (which is a change from our Anime Workouts Database being the most popular), after having just tackled Natalie Portman’s Thor: Love and Thunder Workout!
Pablo Schreiber Stats:
Real Name: Pablo Schreiber
Height: 6’5
Weight: (approximate) 195-205 lbs.
Age: 44 years old
Schreiber is gigantic.
He comes in as one of the tallest male celebrities we’ve seen on the site, standing in with just a dozen or so others.
The average height falls in the range of 6’1-6’3 with celebs like Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Adam Driver, Stephen Amell, Clive Standen and so many more.
Guys around 5’10-6’0 are dudes like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Jason Statham, but the ACTUAL shorter range is filled with guys like Mark Wahlberg, Zac Efron, Kit Harington, Tom Holland and more.
Even taller than them are guys like The Mountain, Joe Manganiello, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Winston Duke, Alexander Skarsgard and a few others.
But, don’t worry either way.
We write these routines to be utilized by any shape and size.

Pablo Schreiber Diet and Nutrition
In an interview we’ll be jumping back to a lot that Paramount Plus uploaded to their YouTube Channel titled “Making Master Chief: Getting Into Spartan Shape”, Pablo starts off by saying:
In High School I was one hundred and forty five pounds at six foot three, so I’m a very thin, skinny person by nature. It’s a challenge for me to put on muscle and gain weight.”
In the same interview Pablo goes on to say:
“I’m eating 5,000 calories a day. It’s a massive undertaking in and of itself, getting all those calories in me.”
We saw similar comments from other men who have bulked up in the passed needing to use tons of calories to help their transformation, like Henry Cavill and his Man of Steel Transformation and Hugh Jackman becoming Wolverine.
But it’s not all sustainable, and it’s definitely not as easy as Scheiber makes it seem. Here’s what he told Men’s Health:
“You’re working out more and eating more than anyone would want to.”
That’s the nature of these transformations that are on a time constraint, and we’ve learned from them a lot and have systems in place to replicate them – but at the end of the day it’s all about finding things you DO want to do. The things that actually vibe well with your preferred nutrition and training style.
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais, & Eat Fat, Lose Fat) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
We’ve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.
For example: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hopper, and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well), Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, that’s just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.
You can check out our Nutrition Pillars for more information and articles on all of the above and more.

Pablo Schreiber Workout Routine Research
We’ll be jumping back into Schreiber’s discussion with Paramount Plus, but we also have a couple other sources that I want to pull in.
We’re going to start with another interview that Schreiber did with Men’s Health.
Here’s what they lead off with, building on some information that we already know a bit about:
You bulked up a lot for the role. How did you approach that?
I’m naturally a thinner body type, I have a pretty fast metabolism. So it’s a challenge for me to put on a lot of muscle and hold on to it. And the nature of the role requires a certain body type, a physique that’s impressive. So I had to train a ton, and I have a great trainer, Eddie Raburn, who I’ve been working with since [2018 heist movie] Den of Thieves. We attacked this one in some familiar ways and some new ways. I’m 44 years old now, and every day that passes, things get a little bit harder, so there’s a lot more focus on recovery and mobility in addition to the usual routine of just eating a lot and lifting a lot of weights.
When you’re 6’5 and as active as Schreiber you’re naturally going to need a lot more calories on a daily basis, so having the issue of bulking up is fairly common.
In an interview with Men’s Journal we also get some information on his recovery, considering his training volume was so high, so quick:
“Throughout the week, I hаd mаssаges, which were extremely beneficiаl. Ice bаths аre one of my fаvorite things in the world.” Going on to say: “I wаs doing those аt leаst once а week.” “I hаve аn ice bаth аt home where I sit for five to ten minutes,”
Jumping back to our Making Of The Master Chief video we can discuss more about the movements we see him using.
His trainer Eddie Raburn takes him through a workout and we’re able to see him performing movements like:
- Dumbbell Curls
- Deadlifts
- Barbell Chops
- L-Sit Holds
- Cable Pulls
- Push Press
- Lateral Raises
- Push Ups
- Trail Runs
We’ll be incorporating all of these into our training regime as well.
He seems to have been performing more of an upper body day, although we do definitely see some push day movements in there, which leads me to believe they were likely either doing full body training or upper and lower body splits.
But if we head over to Eddie Raburn’s Instagram we actually can see Schreiber started this transformation YEARS ago with his transformation working with Eddie for Den of Thieves in 2018.
Eddie shares an exact workout they went through, which actually seems to be on par with their current training style.
I’ll share more below in the full workout.

Pablo Schreiber Workout Routine
Training Volume:
5 days per week
Explanation:
For this one we’re going to be working around a PPL Split (Push Pull Legs) being that I was able to find more programming from Schreiber’s trainer Raburn on his social feeds that help us fill out this split, and we also known Schreiber was incorporating trail runs with his fellow Spartans for his training – on top of the fact that we know Raburn was adding in some intensity. So for this one I have 3 days of weight training programmed and then I’ll also include a sample circuit you could use as well as other resources.
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
