If you’ve been following along you probably realized that I’m bringing in more characters from books to grow our Literary Heroes Workouts out.
We have already had Gimli and Legolas grace us with their presence among our other character workouts, but now it’s time for Frodo to get his shot.
I have seen some fun Lord of the Rings Challenges before and noticed that they are all generally very elaborate (which is great), so I thought bringing in Frodo on his own will allow us to take it down a notch and create a fun weekly LOTR themed challenge that adds in the distance quest but keeps it scaled down a bit.
If that wasn’t clear: we’re going to be going for distance on this one, but we’ll also be looking at it from a weekly perspective instead of a massive 50-100+ miles (though we will still have that as well).
Frodo Baggins Stats:
Real Name: Frodo Baggins
Height: 4’1
Weight: N/A
Book/Movies: Lord of the Rings
Powers: No
I believe Bilbo is our shortest character to ever join SHJ’s Workout Database, even shorter than Gimli at 4’6, who was the previous title holder.
Thankfully we don’t really need to factor this in too much for our routine.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Frodo Baggins Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Frodo Baggins Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
I doubt we need to even have this section, but considering we’ve done it for thousands of other characters it’s only right we give Frodo his breakdown as well.
For that I’ll be pulling right from hit LOTR Wiki Fandom which starts us out with this bio section:
Frodo Baggins, son of Drogo Baggins, was a hobbit of the Shire in the late Third Age. He is commonly considered Tolkien’s most renowned character for his leading role in the Quest of the Ring, in which he bore the One Ring to Mount Doom, where it was destroyed. He was a Ring-bearer, best friend to his gardener, Samwise Gamgee, and was one of three hobbits who sailed from Middle-earth to the Uttermost West at the end of the Third Age.
Normally we’d now jump right into a character’s appearance section and lead our way into his or her abilities, but for Frodo we don’t really need to do that.
Considering Frodo’s lack of incredible abilities that we’re used to seeing from other characters we’re instead going to pull right from his characteristics section:
Frodo, as described by Gandalf, was “taller than some and fairer than most, (with) a cleft in his chin: perky chap with a bright eye.” (The Fellowship of the Ring, Chapter 10, “Strider”)He was a shy, young hobbit with thick, curly brown hair like most other hobbits, and had lighter-than-usual skin due to his Fallohide ancestry through his Brandybuck mother. He could be described as fairly good looking for a hobbit. Frodo is described as appearing thirty-three, even when he is fifty, due to the influence of the Ring. Bilbo and Frodo shared a common birthday on September 22, but Bilbo was 78 years Frodo’s senior. At the opening of The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo and Bilbo were celebrating their thirty-third and eleventy-first (111th) birthdays, respectively. Frodo, like Bilbo, was considered by many others in Hobbiton to be a little odd. His curiosity of the outside world, fascination with Elves and faraway places (like those to which Bilbo traveled in The Hobbit) did not fit the general content personality of most Hobbits. This curiosity was also attributed to his Took ancestry. He was very kind and compassionate, pitying Gollum and allowing him to guide him and Sam to Mordor despite Sam’s distrust of the creature. This act of kindness later proved to be a factor in the quest’s success in destroying the Ring. The influence of the Ring and the wound by the Morgul knife seems combined to have given him the ability to see into the spirit world, for instance he sees faraway events in his dreams on several occasions. He also can see the ring of power worn by Galadriel and he seems to be able to sense danger.
If you don’t know the story of The Lord of the Rings you’ve come to the wrong place.
This isn’t going to be an elaborate breakdown of the journey through Middle-earth and why we’re building a routine based around walking (or jogging, or running, etc.).
If you’re here already looking for a Frodo Baggins Workout I’m just going to assume you already know the story and what I have broken down above is simply to give Frodo Baggins the breakdown he deserves here at SHJ.
That said, the basis of this workout is going to be walking, but we’re also going to be throwing in a day or two of running (or jogging) to step of the intensity here and there.
I’ll also share some links to good 3 day calisthenics workouts you can easily add in if you’d like to as well.
This one is definitely a great way for beginners to get started but we also have our other Beginner Workouts you can take a look at as well if you’d like.

Frodo Baggins Workout Routine
Training Volume:
5+ days per week
Explanation:
Technically that training volume might look daunting, but that’s because we’re walking every single day, so by the standards of walking we are training all 7 days. That said, some of those days are going to just be to get moving at a slow pace and get our steps in.
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.

Frodo Baggins Workout: Breakdown of Each Day
Long Walks 60-120 Minutes at a Brisk Pace:
For your long walks you’re going to be shooting to get in 10KM, which is about 6.2 Miles.
You can shoot for more or less, but that time frame is just there to give you something to work around as you began tracking the distance in there as well.
Moderate Jog 30-45 Minutes and Optional Calisthenics Training:
Your moderate jogs can actually be walking at a moderate pace and then throwing in some running here and there as you progressively become more comfortable running for distance.
You should be shooting to hit 5KM with your walk/run if you’re tacking on calisthenics training, but 7.5-10KM if not.
You can go into our calisthenics workouts for some great options. We have hundreds to choose from at all different levels.
Our Beginner Ninja Workout is a great one to fit right into your schedule.
Recovery Walk 30-60+ Minutes at an Easy Pace:
For your recovery walks you don’t have to worry about distance, you just want to get in some steps and get active.
If you’re like me you’ll end up still tracking them and in that case I’d say 5KM is a good distance to shoot for.
I add the “+” after 60 minutes because once you start leveling up a bit you can find you’re still counting your slow walks as a rest day even when they’re over an hour.
Frodo Baggins Workout: Fun Bonuses
The distance to walk to Mordor is 1,779 miles, if you want to track it.
There is also a fun app called Walk To Mordor that you can use to track it as well (and no we are not affiliated with them).
