We are constantly expanding our Workout Database, and our Anime Inspired Workout section is one of our most popular.
How could we have the best Anime Workout Database on the internet without some of the most popular anime characters EVER.
One of those characters is Edward Elric.
I haven’t been into Fullmetal Alchemist nearly as much as I have with some other animes like Dragon Ball Z and My Hero Academia, but you our SHJ Army confirms that Elric is a MUST have as soon as possible.
So here we are.
Edward Elric Stats:
Real Name: Edward Elric
Height: 5’5
Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist
Powers: No
In my opinion 5’5 is the perfect height.
And, I’m not just saying that because I’m short…
Vegeta tied Wolverine for the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Edward Elric Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hulk may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Edward Elric Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To start us off I want to go over a brief background and bio for Edward Elric right from his Wiki Fandom.
Here’s what they tell us:
Edward Elric, also known as Ed or the Fullmetal Alchemist, is the titular protagonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series.
After losing his right arm and left leg due to a failed Human Transmutation attempt, Ed became the youngest State Alchemist in history by achieving his certification at age twelve. Three years later, Ed has become fully engrossed in his search for the legendary Philosopher’s Stone, an item with which he hopes to restore his younger brother Alphonse Elric, whose whole body had been lost in the aftermath of the human transmutation.
Some of you who are die hard Fullmetal Alchemist fans may be wondering how we’re going to build a workout for him if he doesn’t have powers that normally resemble the types of characters we normally work with.
And, that’s a good question.
BUT, Edward Elric is not only super-fit, but he’s also a highly trained combatant.
Here’s how his Wiki Fandom starts their section on his abilities:
Despite Edward’s small stature and young age, he is a remarkable combatant. Having apprenticed under Izumi Curtis, Ed was taught to condition his body through regular workouts and sparring as part of her philosophy, “to train the spirit, first train the body.” As such, his slight frame belies a compactly muscular build that, in addition to his naturally high energy level and endurance, fuels his considerable strength and agility which allows him to throw people much bigger than he is. Due to Izumi’s Spartan training, Edward has become a particularly competent hand-to-hand fighter, able to hold his own against armed opponents and even skilled martial arts practitioners. Besides that, his steel right arm and left leg augment his fighting strength by adding to his defensive and offensive capabilities as well as his speed – after he is refitted with a lighter, cold-climate automail in Chapter 70 of the manga.
So he’s done his fair share of training.
They mention:
- Conditioning with regular workouts
- Sparring
- High Energy Levels and Endurance
- Considerable Strength and Agility
- Exceptional Hand to Hand Fighter and Mixed Martial Artist
Which means we still have our work cut out for us.
We’re going to be mixing weight training and calisthenics with what we will consider “Spartan training” here at SHJ (you guys may already know what I’m referring to if you have been part of The SHJ Army for a bit).
We’ll see how you fair with a “Spartan” workout that is also used as a Benchmark Hero Workout within our Superhuman System.
