We’re back for more DBZ characters this week.
And it’s for a special reason.
Last month the first ever Mega Path dropped inside The Academy. The Robin to Nightwing Mega Path features multiple workouts that lead you from beginner Robin to advanced Nightwing.
Now, in August, we’ll be releasing the Kakarot to Goku Mega Path!
We had The Minimalist Path which was also The Nightwing Path, and we also have The Saiyan Path, and I believe they’re the most used paths within The Academy, so it’s only right these are our first two Mega Paths.
(Mega Paths come in comic-style packet that advances you through progression related to a specific character’s journey).
We have seen a decent handful of other DBZ and DB Super characters, though.
Here’s some of them: Goku, Vegeta, Toppo, Ribrianne, Kefla, Jiren, Videl, Broly, Kale, and Caulifla.
But somehow we’re missing out on Gohan and Piccolo.
I’m thinking next week might even be the Androids 17 and 18!
Piccolo Stats:
Height: 7’5
Weight: 255 lbs
Real Name: Piccolo
Powers: Yes
Okay, so I had absolutely no clue Piccolo was so tall.
I honestly thought he was just towering above all the saiyans because they’re so short…
Vegeta were tied Wolverine for the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
Just above them are Aquaman, Red Hood and Punisher standing only an inch or so taller.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
And, of course, Hulk and Broly are both up there with them, and sometimes even portrayed much taller.
Yeah, that means All Might was the tallest at 7’2, only sometimes surpassed by The Hulk – and Zangief just missing the tallest spot at 7’0!
And I say “was” because Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Piccolo Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hellboy may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!

Piccolo Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
This is where I get to break down the “how” and “why” of the workout we’re going to build based on the characters, in this case Piccolo’s, powers and/or abilities.
For those of you who aren’t mega-super-DBZ-nerds like me, we’ll first hit some background for Piccolo before moving into the exact powers and abilities we’ll be using to create his workout routine.
Here’s a snippet from his Wiki Fandom:
Piccolo is a Namekian and also the final child and reincarnation of King Piccolo, later becoming the reunification of the Nameless Namekian after fusing with Kami. According to Grand Elder Guru, Piccolo, along with Kami and King Piccolo, are part of the Dragon Clan, who were the original creators of the Dragon Balls. A wise and cunning warrior who was originally a ruthless enemy of Goku, Piccolo later becomes a permanent member of the Dragon Team, largely due to forming a mutual respect to Goku and even more from forming a close bond with Goku’s first-born son Gohan.
Which is another reason why I decided to do both Piccolo’s and Gohan’s workout in the same week.
But now let’s talk about his powers.
Although Piccolo isn’t a Saiyan like many of the other Dragon Ball characters, he is Namekian which comes with it’s own set of powers that pretty similar to the Saiyans.
Here are some of his powers listed from his Comic Vine page:
Super hearing, super strength, super speed, flight, hand to hand combat, and elasticity
The thing to take away from Piccolo is the fact that he’s a bit less powerful than the Saiyans (although at times he does become incredibly strong and even surpasses many Saiyans), and he also has super elasticity from being Namekian.
So the two things we’re going to do to turn this routine into a Namekian/Piccolo styled routine (as compared to our Saiyans) is:
- Utilize yoga (and also mediation as we’ve seen in DBZ) for flexibility
- Create a more beginner workout than we’re used to seeing for the Dragon Ball characters
Which means if you’re a beginner-intermediate you’ve come to the right place.
If you’re looking for a more advanced routine you can obviously also check out any of the other Dragon Ball characters as well.
Let’s see if you can handle this one first though, all right?
