Juju Smith-Schuster’s workout routine is coming based on a handful of different requests.
Not only was Juju Smith-Schuster’s workout requested, but people were also requesting more workouts from Corey Calliet (Michael B. Jordan and Smith Schuster’s trainer), more Zac Efron styled training, and NFL training.
Well, guess what…you have all FOUR in one!
We’ve seen some athletes like LeBron James, Maria Sharapova, David Beckham, Serena Williams, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mike Tyson, and a good handful of others; but I believe Juju Smith-Schuster’s workout will be the first from the NFL.
And it definitely does not disappoint.
I would say it’s one of the highest volume training protocol’s we’ve seen on the entire site, actually!
Juju Smith-Schuster Stats:
Height: 6’1
Weight: (approximate) 216 lbs.
Age: 23 years old
Juju Smith-Schuster stands in just making it to the average height range among male celebrities we’ve seen at SHJ.
At first glance I automatically expected him to be around 6’3 or taller; but his athleticism allows him to see much larger!
The average height falls in the range of 6’1-6’3 with celebs like Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Adam Driver, Stephen Amell, Clive Standen and so many more.
Guys around 5’10-6’0 are dudes like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Jason Statham, but the ACTUAL shorter range is filled with guys like Mark Wahlberg, Zac Efron, Kit Harington, Tom Holland and more.
Even taller than them are guys like The Mountain, Joe Manganiello, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Winston Duke, Alexander Skarsgard and a few others.
But, don’t worry either way.
We write these routines to be utilized by any shape and size.

Juju Smith-Schuster Diet and Nutrition
In the last year or two Juju Smith-Schuster has made some big changes to his diet.
While he does hold his sponsorship with Pizza Hut and other brands (and likely still indulges), we have to remember just how many calories he burns on a daily basis.
As you’ll see in his workout routine research section: he is training on AND off the field.
Part of the changes in his diet came from adding in a ton of extra protein.
SteelCity Insider tells us a little about these changes here:
Along with spending more time in Pittsburgh, Smith-Schuster is also making changes to his diet. During a recent Q&A with fans on his YouTube channel, Smith-Schuster said that he has made pork his primary source of nutrition this offseason.
“Pork is amazing source of nutrition for our health,” he said. “Especially as an athlete. It’s super important to me to take care of my body at the highest level possible. So what I intake is pork, and why? It has low calories, high in protein. It’s the perfect food to lose weight and to build muscle. It’s a great lean protein and a big part of my offseason nutrition plan.Pork is also versatile. You can use it in so many different ways and it’s the perfect center to any plate of food.”
Now it is also important to note that the YouTube Video in reference is also an ad.
Juju tweeted:
I’ve been keeping the offseason lit with my workouts and eating healthy proteins like pork to fuel me. Check out this week’s YT video, and remember to incorporate pork into your healthy diet. Visit pork.org/cooking to learn more. #Ad @NationalPork
But don’t worry, we have a lot more to talk about!
Juju works with celebrity fitness trainer Corey Calliet, who also coaches Michael B. Jordan.
We’ve seen a few articles on Calliet’s training style with Michael B. Jordan’s Workout Routine (there are actually two), and Michael B. Jordan’s Favorite Bodyweight Movements; for those of you interested in Calliet workouts.
While Juju Smith-Schuster’s training regime was extremely intense, Calliet took it easy on him with the diet.
In an interview with Post Gazette they (they being Post and Calliet) tell us:
Pepsi and Pizza Hut might pay well for endorsements, but they can’t be full-time fuel for any athlete. Calliet put together a “basic diet” for his pupil, “because he’d never been on a diet before.”
“I needed his body to have clean nutrients, clean fuel, so he’s able to last and get the results that he wants. … He was on a balanced meal plan,” Calliet said — except from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday. “I did give him at least 24 hours to cheat. He needed that. He’s an athlete. I don’t expect him to be a bodybuilder and all that. I expect him to have energy and look good while he’s playing.”
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais, & Eat Fat, Lose Fat) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
We’ve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.
For example: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hopper, and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well), Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, that’s just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.
You can check out our Nutrition Pillars for more information and articles on all of the above and more.

Juju Smith-Schuster Workout Routine Research
As I mentioned above, Juju Smith-Schuster’s workout routine is much more intense than his diet.
Calliet, his trainer, put him under an extreme training regime.
The interview with Post-Gazette tells us a little bit more about the volume here:
Smith-Schuster worked out with him twice a day, six days a week, from January into early May, when he left L.A. to return to Pittsburgh.
They continue with Calliet informing them:
The mornings were spent throwing weight around in the garage, an apt setting for Smith-Schuster as one of seven children who slept in the garage of his grandmother’s house in the same city as a kid. The nights were spent at a football field nearby, where Calliet would put him through conditioning and footwork exercises. Calliet calls it all a mix of “bodybuilding with CrossFit with HIIT training with conditioning all at once.”
From what he discusses it would essentially be like combining our Academy’s Bulk & Strength programming with our Legacy Program.
Jumping back to Steel City Insider, they tell us about Juju’s least favorite training day:
“Honestly, leg days are the worst because they kill me and when they kill my legs, I can’t walk,” he confessed. “I’m wobbling all over the place.”
Oh, and it only gets better.
We have more information from Calliet and Post-Gazette, AND a full workout routine that Zac Efron and Juju completed together.
On top of that we have a ton of clips from Juju Smith-Schuster’s social feed from his training with Calliet that I will be sharing and utilizing for the routine!
But, before I start rattling off exercises from the clips, I do want to finish us off with a snippet from Post-Gazette and Calliet:
“One of my friends said, ‘He trained with you six times a week, twice a day? He’s crazy,’ ” Calliet relayed. “I said, ‘I know.’ ”
On a given day, Smith-Schuster’s warm-up would start by burning a predetermined number of calories on an Assault exercise bike. He’d get off the bike and hit the ground to floor-press 75 pounds for 15-20 reps. Get up from that, do a set of skiers, then move on to box jumps, then squats, then abs. In all, it would usually last seven minutes, nonstop.
“I’m beating you up in the beginning of working out, so you’re already tired as hell,” Calliet explained. “That’s the part where I say, ‘OK, you’re physically tired, but you’re mentally drained. … You’ve just got to keep going.’ ”
If you didn’t already know: Juju Smith-Schuster and Calliet’s training volume was EXTREMELY high.
Actually abnormal to the point where they did this for a handful of months, but Juju cannot sustain it during the season (if that wasn’t obvious).
Some of the clips are going to be a repeat of what Post-Gazette shared, but I was able to find Juju doing:
- Assault exercise bike
- Burpees Over Bar
- Kettlebell Swings
- Heavy Over-The-Shoulder Med Ball Tosses
- SkiErg Cardio
- Dumbbell Deadlifts
And I’ll tell you right now that a lot of this is NOT fun.
With all this, as I mentioned above, I will also be providing the exact workout that Juju Smith-Schuster did with Zac Efron!
