We’re finally bringing in Sakura Hibiki to join Machio Naruzo within our Anime Workouts Database.
I mean, after all, how can we not have multiple members (especially of the opposite sex) from an anime called “How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?”?
Trick question.
This one is going to be a lot of fun. I’ll break it down a lot more below, in our workout research section – but the plot of HHATDYL really fits in well with the goals of SHJ.
It’ll be like we’re re-writing her story, but for you instead.
Either way she’ll definitely be a fun addition to our Anime Workout Placement Quiz.
Sakura Hibiki Stats:
Real Name: Sakura Hibiki
Height: 5’3
Weight: 123 lbs.
Anime: How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?
Powers: No
Sakura Hibiki is actually quite short.
She’s not the shortest we’ve seen, but she falls below the average height we’ve seen among our female anime characters.
Supergirl and Erza Scarlet were our shortest at 5’5 before Wasp came in at 5’4 and Kale, Anna and Nina Williams matching her there. BUT, now we have Caulifla at 4’8 and Sailor Moon at 4’11! Katana is just behind her at 5’2.
We had Wonder Woman come in standing 6’0 tall, Mockingbird and Hawkgirl at 5’9, Mystique, Miss Martian, and Sonya Blade at 5’10, and Storm 5’11.
But the average height for female celebrities on the site is generally more-so ranging from 5’4-5’6 – and our Black Widow is just above that at 5’7 with Spider-Gwen, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy at 5’8.
And, the tallest we’d seen before She-Hulk was Starfire at 6’4!
But don’t worry, either way.
Not only are these routines for all shapes and sizes – they also work for both men and women – regardless of the gender of the hero.

Sakura Hibiki Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Sakura Hibiki Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Sakura Hibiki, and How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift, we’ll be pulling right from her Wiki Fandom page.
Here’s how they lead us off about her character:
Sakura Hibiki is the main protagonist of Dumbbell Nan-Kilo Moteru?. She is a second year high-school student at Koyo Girl’s Academy and a regular member of Silverman Gym.
And if we break down the entire plot of the anime we actually learn a ton more about what we’re working with here:
A second year high-school student at Koyo Girl’s Academy, Hibiki greatly enjoyed eating, until one day Ayaka told her that she had gained weight. She decided to go to the Silverman Gym in order to lose weight. There, she met Soryuin Akemi, who wanted to join the gym in order to live a healthier life.
When Hibiki and Akemi entered the gym, the former was shocked to see that it was full of muscular men and immediately wanted to leave. However, she stopped when Machio Naruzo appeared. Due to his good looks, Hibiki changed her mind and remained in the gym.
Hibiki visited Ayaka’s family gym and accidentally discovered her latent strength after destroying a punching bag.
So we’re going to be looking at this one (if not obvious) from the point of Sakura who just joined the gym and wants to get in great shape.
Consider me Machio Naruzo.
If we move into her physical abilities before getting into the actual workout we learn this:
Although she does not have much stamina, Hibiki has shown to have great latent physical strength. Her incredible displays of strength include:
- Accidentally destroying a punching bag with a single punch. On another occasion, she sent two machos flying along with the struck punching bag.
- Effortlessly defeating both Ayaka (a semi-professional boxer) and Gina in arm-wrestling almost instantly and even causing Machio to get “a little serious” against her.
- Lifting a boulder, which was said to give luck in love to those who lifted it.
- Totaling a punching machine.
- Bisecting a scarecrow with a single shuriken to win a food related prize.
- Dragging a sumo wrestler all on her own after groups of people couldn’t.
- Bisecting a dummy with a single kick.
- Pushing a woman across the room without trying.
- Crushing a woman’s thumb without even trying.
The source of this strength seems to be an adrenaline-fueled fighting sense that comes out when she is properly motivated. She has not perfected this though and cannot call upon this strength at will; on one occasion, she hit herself in the nose with a baseball while trying to hit it with a baseball bat.
Now that won’t tell us about her actual workout, but it does give us a good indication of her “latent physical strength” – which you have as well.
So be ready for a gym routine that will be geared towards beginner -> intermediate lifters, and revolve around Sakura’s overall appearance and lore.
