You guys have made it abundantly clear that you want some of the Fate/stay night series characters here at SHJ.
And, Rin Tohsaka was the frontrunner in requests from you guys, so that’s who we’re starting with.
She’s going to make a great addition to our Anime Calisthenics Workout Placement Quiz and also our Calisthenics Workout Database.
If you guys love Rin the way I think you guys will, we’ll keep the Fate/stay night characters coming and eventually even bring in a mini database like we’ve done for all of our anime within the Anime Workouts Database.
For this one the main purpose, which I’ll discuss in depth below in our workout research section, will be more of a cosplay and aesthetic goal oriented routine – but we’ll still be breaking down her whole background and abilities as well.
Rin Tohsaka Stats:
Real Name: Rin Tohsaka
Height: 5’2
Weight: 104 lbs.
Anime: Fate/stay night
Powers: Yes
Rin is actually really short.
Although we’ve seen a few characters shorter than her, she does fall in the shorter range among female anime characters we’ve seen.
Supergirl and Erza Scarlet were our shortest at 5’5 before Wasp came in at 5’4 and Kale, Anna and Nina Williams matching her there. BUT, now we have Caulifla at 4’8 and Sailor Moon at 4’11! Katana is just behind her at 5’2.
We had Wonder Woman come in standing 6’0 tall, Mockingbird and Hawkgirl at 5’9, Mystique, Miss Martian, and Sonya Blade at 5’10, and Storm 5’11.
But the average height for female celebrities on the site is generally more-so ranging from 5’4-5’6 – and our Black Widow is just above that at 5’7 with Spider-Gwen, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy at 5’8.
And, the tallest we’d seen before She-Hulk was Starfire at 6’4!
But don’t worry, either way.
Not only are these routines for all shapes and sizes – they also work for both men and women – regardless of the gender of the hero.

Rin Tohsaka Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Rin Tohsaka Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Rin Tohsaka and her background and abilities we’ll be pulling right from her Wiki Fandom page.
They lead off with this:
Rin Tohsaka is one of the three main heroines of Fate/stay night who acts as the Master of Archer in the Fifth Holy Grail War. She is the current head of the Tohsaka family and the biological older sister of Sakura Matou.
After the events of the Holy Grail War, she formally joins the Clock Tower and studies under the tutelage of Lord El-Melloi II in the El-Melloi Classroom. She appears in the The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II as a major character. As part of the El-Melloi Classroom, she is one of the many Masters of True Rider in the True and False Holy Grail Wars of Fate/strange Fake.
And if we move down into her powers and abilities section they start that with a bit of an overview, stating:
Rin was born capable of manipulating all five great Elements, an extremely rare trait for a magus. Her potential is such that she will eventually be considered as one of the top one hundred ranking magi throughout the entire history of the Mage’s Association. Compared using simple numbers, someone with an abnormally high potential like Ciel is at one hundred, someone who is eternally at apprentice-level like Shirou is at ten, and Rin falls from seventy to one hundred.
So, as you can see, this is why we’ll be basing her routine around more of an aesthetic and cosplay oriented workout.
I actually build all of our workouts with the characters aesthetic in mind, but some characters like Rin just have that a bit extra considering we don’t have her abilities and powers to factor in as much (so basically her overall aesthetic is weighted more in my mind).
The cool part about the fact that we’ll be building this around Rin Tohsaka aesthetics is that I’m able to scale it back a bit and make this routine geared more towards and beginner to intermediate level and our advanced level members of The SHJ Army can scale it up if they’d like.
Normally we have to work backwards with our characters abilities and have beginners scale down.
And, as I also mentioned above: I’ll be building this one out using strictly bodyweight training to make it even easier for you guys to jump into it.
That being said, I do want to finish off with a bit more about her powers and abilities before we jump into the workout.
Here’s what I’ll share to finish off:
As the successor to the Tohsaka family, Rin excels in Conversion of power, which includes storage of magical energy in objects, typically jewels for Jewel Magecraft, as they are easy targets to transfer magical energy into due to being ‘places’ that easily store people’s thoughts. Additionally, crystals that have been in the ground for a long time carry strong natural spirits. She uses them as disposable, limited-function Mystic Codes. Because the amount of energy a magus can release at one time is restricted by bodily limitations, giving them unused excess of Magical Energy at the end of the day, Rin has been able to accumulate all of the magical energy generated by her body during her seventeen years of lifetime through jewel crystallization, using a syringe to draw out her blood and drip it onto jewels to accomplish the process. As with practicing of sorcery, charging these jewels has become a daily process for her turning them into powerful bullets. However, in the end, they are merely disposable items. Because their sorcery reduces expensive jewels to ash after a single use, the Tohsaka magi are fated to be chronically afflicted with a lack of funds. When Rin’s stored power is needed, she can utilize the jewels for an instantaneous release of A-rank magic capable of countering a spell from Caster’s magecraft from the Age of Gods, or taking one of Berserker’s lives by using five jewels. Their speed of release is great enough that it can match Caster’s High-Speed Divine Words. When she gets older, Rin is able to take advantage of her Average One status and Jewel Magecraft to be able to imitate Flat Escardos’s magical hacking using a giant pentagram with jewels at each end: being an Average One means that, unless her opponent had one of the rare, weird Elements, Rin would be elementally compatible with anything a magus could have. She has the ideal talent for magecraft hacking, even though she doesn’t have any reliable way to read the opponent’s wavelength and formula yet and needs Lord El-Melloi II to assist her in finding the enemy’s data on the Luxcarta. She further evolves as a “counter-based fighter” when she devises the Pseudo-Edelsteine counter-spell with Lord El-Melloi II’s help. She can also use small statues of amethyst in form of Owls as familiars for reconnaissance purposes.
Clearly Rin Tohsaka is extremely powerful – so I didn’t want to leave us going into the routine thinking she wasn’t just because we’re focusing in on her physique for this one – so finishing off with an acknowledgement of that is a perfect transition into our workout.
Don’t be afraid to scale up with more volume or more difficult movements.

Rin Tohsaka Workout Routine
Training Volume:
3-5 days per week
Explanation:
As I mentioned above we’re training with bodyweight training, sticking to a beginner to intermediate level, and focusing on her physique for this one. You’ll be able to easily scale up if you’d like because each day will be gradually harder and you can decide if you want to use the A->B->C version or pull back to the previous days training. I’ll also be including a day devoted to endurance work and a calisthenics Tohsaka Circuit Test that can be done weekly, biweekly or monthly – while doing more cardio/endurance on days you don’t complete the circuit.
Want To Upgrade This Workout?
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
