Have you seen Frozen 2 yet?
I guess I should ask: are you aware Kristen Bell is Anna in Frozen!?
I’m sure most of you were aware of this, but there has to be a couple out there who were under the impression she was strictly Veronica Mars and Sarah Marshall (from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, duh).
And, yes there’s obviously a lot more where that comes from, like Gossip Girl and Heroes, and more – but Veronica Mars and Sarah Marshall are usually the big pair (with Mars outweighing Marshall by a landslide).
But now it’s time to talk about how Anna–I mean Vero—I mean Kristen Bell, trains and structures her nutrition.
Kristen Bell Stats:
Height: 5’1
Weight: (approximate) 106 lbs.
Age: 39 years old
Bell is actually one of the shortest women to his SHJ.
She falls into the category of the shortest and is three or so inches off the average height among women at SHJ.
Normally the average height we see for women is around 5โ4-5โ6ย with ladies such asย Jennifer Aniston,ย Margot Robbie,ย Olivia Munn,ย Alicia Vikander,ย Sophia Bush,ย Tatiana Maslany,ย Evangeline Lilly, and a ton of others.
But then there is also that taller range, and among the tallest (even taller than the 5โ7-5โ8), are ladies likeย Gwendoline Christie,ย Gal Gadot, and a few others โ withย Phoebe Tonkin,ย Gabrielle Union,ย Brie Larson,ย Nina Dobrev,ย Daisy Ridley, and so many more coming in around that 5โ7-5โ8 range.
And, letโs not forget the shorter ladies of SHJ likeย Ariana Grande,ย Scarlett Johansson,ย Mila Kunis,ย Emilia Clarke,ย Lucy Hale,ย Julianne Houghย and a good handful of others.
But, either way, donโt worry.
I write these routines for anyone and everyone.

Kristen Bell Diet and Nutrition
Kristen Bell loves sharing the inside scoop when it comes to her workout and diet.
Bell was vegan for over five years and switched over to vegetarian in 2017 after she felt vegan wasn’t sustainable enough for her long term.
She tells Today:
ย “I think being vegan is a wonderful way to live and it has great effects on the body. I also think it has really good effects on the environment.”
Bell also has a long conversation with Shape Mag about being healthy and her top tips for dieting.
In her interview with Shape she shares why she cares about being healthy:
“To me, being healthy means feeling good about the choices I’m making,” she says. “And most important, it’s about keeping fit mentally and physically. I’m constantly reminding myself that it’s not about my thighs: It’s about my commitment and my happiness level.”
She also goes on to share a ton about the types of foods she loves, starting with “Carbs-I love ’em!”
Bell feels strongly about cravings, too, telling Shape:
“I am obsessed with food! I start my day with matcha. And then, when my stomach wakes up, I order egg whites, spinach, extra feta, and hot sauce on set. I tell the caterer, ‘Once you’ve added so much feta that you think, Oh no, I’ve added too much feta, double that.’ As a snack at work, I’ll grab a Chobani yogurt. At home, I’ll pick things that are blooming in my garden-mulberries, nectar plums, blackberries. Lunch is almost always a big garbage disposal salad. I start with lettuce and add a scoop of rice, a scoop of beans, a handful of nuts, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, cucumber, strawberries, blueberries, a splash of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and some sea salt. It’s delicious. My favorite food, though, is croutons. Any and all croutons. I don’t discriminate.”
And continuing with more detail about her feelings towards those carbs:
“For dinner, I love pasta. Love it. But I’m a vegetarian, so I have to monitor my protein intake. There is a brand of pasta that I’ve been getting at Thrive Market called Banza that’s made from chickpeas and pea protein. It’s got a lot of protein in it-about 25 grams a serving-and it tastes like regular pasta. It’s so good. What I’ll do is cut up some cherry tomatoes, fry them in a pan with a little olive oil, throw the cooked noodles in, then add a little more olive oil, and maybe some ghee, and crack an egg in it for creaminess. The dish is like a carbonara, but with tomatoes and without meat, and it’s truly divine. I’m telling you, this pasta has changed my life.”
EatingWell and Delish put together a daily diet plan based on her interviews (including the one we covered above with Shape), which looks something like this:
- Breakfast:
- Vegan Matcha Latte
- Egg whites, spinach, tomatoes and extra feta
- Mid-Day Snack:
- Salt Bagel w/ Cream Cheese
- Lunch:
- Plant Based Protein Shake
- Afternoon Snack:
- Greek Yogurt
- Dinner:
- Banza pasta with olive oil, cherry tomatoes with either an egg for carbonara-like meatless dish or Beyond Meat crumbles for a spaghetti and meaballs-esque dinner
She also tells Delish:
“I’ll get a chocolate bar and keep it in the cupboard and have a piece of it if I really want something, but I cheat very rarely,” she said. “I will cheat with salty things, just not sugar. But that I think is better for you. I think sugar’s really bad for us.”
Clearly she has her dieting down to a science.
And, if you missed the start: she opts for sustainability; having adapted to a vegetarian diet as opposed to vegan in order to better sustain.
We see a lot of celebs opt for a sustainable approach like this.
Thatโs why ourย Academyย Nutrition Classes (Monks, Minimalists, SuperHumans, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Greek Gods, Samurais) revolve around helping you find the specific diet that is right FOR YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons to HAVE the strict guidelines.
Weโve seen a lot of celebs opt for specific restrictions.ย
For example:ย Dwayne Johnsonย andย Kevin Hartย incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals,ย Hugh Jackman,ย Benedict Cumberbatchย andย Terry Crewsย utilizeย intermittent fasting(something I use daily as well),ย Mustafa Shakirย andย Madelaine Petschย areย vegans,ย Brandon Routhย andย Frank Grilloย opt forย paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
And, thatโs just to name a few celebs from each, by the way.
You can check out ourย Nutrition Pillarsย for more information and articles on all of the above and more.

Kristen Bell Workout Routine Research
Bell also feels strongly about her fitness.
With her busy schedule, she opts for fitness wherever and however she can get it in.
Bell says:
“At work, while I’m running through lines with my fellow actors, I’ll be leaning backward on a chair doing triceps dips,” says Kristen. “At home, when my kids and I are on a walk, and they’re meandering and looking at leaves, I’ll do lunges. I get it in however and whenever I can.”
She does switch it up when she can by getting into the gym, and even yoga studio, though.
Bell tells Shape:
“I joined a yoga studio this year and bought a monthly pass, and I’ve been going every chance I can. I enjoy the physical and mental reset I get in yoga more than any other workout. Being in a meditative state while I’m challenging my body is ideal. I like the fact that you set an intention because there’s always something that I’m working through in a day, and it helps me do that. If I have a choice, I will always go to yoga rather than sit on the couch, because I feel so much better afterward.”
She’s also been quoted saying that she tries to meditate daily.
And, multiple sources confirm that she’s a big advocate of meditation in many forms.
Jumping back to her quick bursts of working out wherever and whenever, Bell tells Shape:
“I need fast workouts. I don’t have an hour and a half-I have 25 minutes, max. So I incorporate sprints into my routine. I sprint up my driveway, walk back, repeat. I do it 10 or 15 times. The whole thing takes me maybe 15 minutes. It’s fantastic for your heart, brain, and body. And sprinting makes me feel really strong.”
We actually saw David Beckham opt for small little “micro” workouts like this as well.
He called them fitness snacks!
Expect to see a handful of fitness snack options to be incorporated with Bell’s routine as well.
And, to finish off her thoughts when it comes to fitness, she also feels strongly about teaching your kids good workout ethics as well:
“It’s important to me to show my children that I care about my health and fitness enough to stay committed. So when I’m in their room with them, I’ll do some squats. When they ask what I’m doing, I’ll say I’m getting my physical fitness in. And because they copy everything I do, the next time they pick up a heavy bag they’ll say, ‘I’m getting my workout in.’ It’s a value I want to instill in my kids at an early age-that paying attention to your body is mandatory. Whether it’s putting my sunscreen on or doing push-ups, it’s not just me taking care of myself but also me helping shape my daughters.”
So we’ll start by changing our own, but knowing how strongly Bell feels about her fitness regime will definitely be a factor in how I build out this routine for us.
Get ready.

Kristen Bell Workout: Yoga Studio, Jog and More
Kristen Bell mentioned signing up for a yoga studio and making more of an effort to go.
For that reason you’ll find that it’s a big part of the schedule above.
Another piece of the schedule is a longer jog.
You can work your way up with this and start by running then walking then running then walking until you can jog the entire duration.
If you’re going to opt for this method I suggest completing the entirety of the suggested 30 minutes as Bell mentions doing SPRINTS for 15 minutes.
You can also consider using Kid Flash or Constance Wu’s article that consist of Couch to 10Ks!
Kristen Bell Workout: Tracking Your Walk, Mixed Martial Arts, Parkour, Swimming & More
The biggest part of Bell’s workout is staying active.
She makes sure to get going every day and every place she can fit something in.
For that reason you have some other options.ย One of the days on the schedule mentions tracking your steps to make sure you’re getting at least 10,000 that day.ย This is something we saw Ariana Grande do.
Some other options are things we see at SHJ on a more common basis ranging from Parkour to MMA and Swimming.
