Young Justice is amazing.
If you don’t think so…you probably wouldn’t even be on this article.
There may be the exceptions, though; some of you who know what it is, appreciate it from afar, but haven’t had the chance to actually check it out; and I can understand that.
I’ll allow it, and you can stay for the fun.
The fakers who don’t want to admit how awesome it is…be gone with you!
Now that that’s over with…for the remaining awesome people who are reading this article, if you’re already part of The SHJ Army you’ll probably know already that we’ve been seeing more and more workout styled listicles like this one on the site.
This is not only because they’re cool, but also because it’s a fun way to filter through old workouts that many of you may otherwise never get the chance to know are actually hidden deep in the depths of our Workout Database.
We now have well over 500 workout routines (and growing every minute) that make up the most comprehensive Workout Database on the internet.
That being said, listicles are also just fun. That’s why we’re even writing more devoted to fitness gear, and other cool things like workout songs, playlists, and so much more.
Plus, it’s also fun to have some listicles devoted to fitness gear as well.
Our most recent listicles revolves around things like:
- 20 Star Wars Celeb + Character WorkoutsÂ
- The Top Superhero, Anime and Video Game Inspired Character Workouts…Ever!
- The Top Diets Used Among Celebrities
- The Top 5 Bird of Prey Workout Routines
And that last one really opened the doors for me (I’m not sure why it took that one being so specific to do it) to realize we have sooooo much room to explore with these listicles.
Sooooo much.
But we’ll save my epiphany for another time. For now I’d like to tell you how I’m going to be going about creating this list.
In other cases I have built the lists around user choice (most downloaded and utilized), or even just the most used among celebs (like our dietary options article), but for this one the ordering is going to be specifically based around my favorites due to a number of different reasons:
- What I feel is the most effective (considering I built them all)
- What I feel is unique or different
- What I think is the coolest character and workout pairing
And those are all weighed in the same, although the coolest character and workout pairing might be ever-so-slightly lower than the other two when I make my decisions.
But anywho…
Let’s start with number one….
Number One: Nightwing
First on the list is Nightwing.Â
The SHJ Army LOVES Nightwing. We literally have a Mega Path called The Robin To Nightwing in The Academy, a Minimalist Path based on Nightwing, and THREE workout routines on the site that are built around him as well.
If that doesn’t tell you why he’s coming in at the first slot on this list, I’m not sure how else to explain it.
Here’s a rundown of what we have on the site:
This is his main workout that was built around his character, and the first one to appear on SHJ. This is SUPER fun, and an awesome workout. It’s also one of the main reasons I felt okay with slotting him at number one.
The Nightwing Cosplay Workout Routine & Guide
This is a nice scaled workout for beginners who want to start training to look like Nightwing. While the other routine bases the entire functionality around his character (physique, training style and more); this one is built strictly around looking like him which allowed me to scale it down.
The Nightwing Circuit Workout w/ Video Guide
This one is a nice circuit routine built around Nightwing that Brandon breaks down in a fun video guide as well.
And these also happen to be in the order I would suggest utilizing them as well.
It’s just a nice bonus that he also happens to be one of the team’s leaders, prior to giving leadership back to Aqualad, who we’ll see shortly as well.
You can check out the main Nightwing Workout Routine here, but the links above will also get you a few more options to play with!
Number Two: Miss Martian
Second on the list is Miss Martian.
While we won’t necessarily be going from male to female member of Young Justice during this routine, especially considering the fact that all these routines can be used back and forth [by male and female members of SHJ], it would be quite easy to jump back and forth throughout this list.
Miss Martian’s routine is an awesome mix of yoga, weightlifting, supersets, and more.
This one we’ll get you strong while also working on your flexibility, endurance, and even agility.
Plus, let’s be honest, Miss Martian runs the show. Without her Young Justice would be missing a huge chunk of awesomeness.
You can check out Miss Martian’s workout routine here.
Number Three: Kid Flash
Third on the list is Kid Flash.
I LOVE the Kid Flash workout for multiple reasons.
The first reason is due to the fact that it’s based around a Couch to 10K which is one of the few handful of running based workouts on the site.
The second reason is because it not only mixes the Couch to 10K routine, but it also has a speed and explosiveness, and even bodyweight/calisthenics.
And the final reason, other than the fact that Kid Flash is awesome (obviously), is because each and every part of the routine could in theory be their own workout; which is what makes it so perfectly well-rounded to signify Kid Flash.
That being said, it is technically speaking beginner friendly if you plan on strictly using the Couch to 10K portion, and the calisthenics workout can also be significantly scaled (quite easily) as well.
If you plan on doing the entire routine in it’s full volume, though, I’d place it more around an Intermediate – Advanced level.
You can check out Kid Flash’s workout routine here.
Number Four: Wonder Girl
Number four, Wonder Girl, is one of my favorite female character inspired workouts on the site.
We’ll see a couple more workouts sporting a 5×5 type of workout, but seeing this type of training split on a female routine on top of the mixture of what we’d utilize as pyramid training and straight sets really came together extremely well.
Can you tell I’m proud of this one and want to females out there to take advantage of it?
Ladies, if you’re looking to train like a badass female character while getting stronger AND burning fat AND toning: use this routine and train like Wonder Girl!
If strength isn’t a main focus, well then don’t worry, we have a lot more to choose from.
You can check out Wonder Girl’s workout routine here.
Number Five: Aqualad
Coming in at number five is another one of our Young Justice leaders: Aqualad.
This one isn’t exactly one of my favorite workouts, but it is unique because it is one of the rare occasions we programmed swimming specifically for one of our routines.
That being said, I do really like Aqualad as a character, so that really helped his case and got him the five slot.
I would say that this one is a nice mix of intensity, weight training and uniqueness.
It’s not overly special or unique in the total volume of training, but the extra swimming pulls it together.
You can check out Aqualad’s workout routine here.
Number Six: Vandal Savage
Number Six goes to the villain Vandal Savage.
I have a confession to make: The Vandal Savage workout routine is my favorite routine on this list, and one of my favorites on the site.
It’s very similar to the type of routine I like to utilize for my own training, AND it allows you to lift heavy while also aiming to be a well-rounded stud-like hero.
Not that Vandal Savage is necessarily a stud, but you get my point. Being immortal is always nice.
If you want to step it up a notch and train like me….and an immortal DC villain…this is the routine for you.
You’ll be looking to gain strength, build muscle, tone up, and potentially burn fat depending on your diet and goals.
You can check out Vandal Savage’s workout routine here.
Number Seven: Gorilla Grodd
At number seven we have the first of our next set of 5×5 routines.
This one is coming in before number eight strictly because it’s a bit different and more focused on one goal.
The Gorilla Grodd workout focuses in on powerlifting style and building mass and strength while number eight is one of my favorites but is paired with one of our other workouts on this list.
That being said, if your goal is to get BIG and STRONG, this is your workout.
Lift heavy, get big, look big, feel big….you see where I’m going with this?
Another villain, another number.
You can check out Gorilla Grodd’s workout routine here.
Number Eight: Superboy
How Superboy landed at number eight, I’m very unsure.
And my surprise is stemming from the fact that this workout is AWESOME.
The only, ONLY, reason I didn’t put it WAY towards the top is the fact that it is a paired workout (we wrote a male and female workout the same week that revolved around the same fundamentals to show that men and women can train the same) with Wonder Girl’s workout routine who came in at number four.
That being said, it’s not identical, and it’s still an amazing routine for anyone who wants to get strong as hell while still shooting for an awesome physique at the same time.
Sounds like a pretty good deal, right?
You can check out Superboy’s workout routine here.
Number Nine: Batgirl
Number nine on the list is Batgirl
Batgirl’s routine was almost going to be our “bonus” workout, but I decided it deserves a slot in the top ten.
The reason being: it’s extremely simple, but also super effective.
This is beginner friendly, while also allowing you to train like a hero and get into great shape.
If I was basing it strictly on the depth of the workout it’s likely this one would be further into the list, but sometimes simplicity is key; and this happens to be one of those times.
You can check out Batgirl’s workout routine here.
Number Ten (and Eleven): Arsenal and Arrowette
Number ten is actually a duo, Arsenal and Arrowette.
Remember when I mentioned Superboy and Wonder Girl’s workout were paired? Well so are Arrowette and Aresenal’s routines.
These are even more-so paired and were done on the same week. Sometimes we like to make a point that the ladies can train just like the men (if not harder!) and this is another pair that was done to do just that.
Of course we choose the best heroes to go along with this pairing so that their powers work extremely well with the workout that we’re building, and these two happen to go together just as well as Superboy and Wonder Girl.
So if you’re looking to take on some calisthenics, mixed martial arts and acrobatic style training, either of these routines would be a great choice for you.
You can check out Arrowette and Aresenal’s workouts here.
Bonus Workouts: Cheshire and Rose Wilson
The bonus workouts are two extra villains that I really wanted to include.
They didn’t quite make the top ten, but that doesn’t mean they’re not awesome workouts.
Rose Wilson’s workout routine is even based around our Deathstroke MMA workout routine [because he is her father].
If you guys haven’t noticed already, based on the rest of our listicles….I really like throwing in bonuses at the end.
For that reason, I do want to mention that there are DEFINITELY more Young Justice characters on the site, but these are my top characters that are very specific to the team (and list of villains).
Of course we also have our entire list of Justice League characters that you can utilize, but you may want to check out our full list of DC Inspired Workouts.
I will make a special mention to Black Canary’s workout routine considering she’s the teams mixed martial arts coach.
You can check out Chesire’s and Rose Wilson’s routines here.
That’s a wrap.
I think this one was not only extremely fun, but will definitely open the door to many more listicles to give you guys the characters outside of our Workout Database.
Right off the top of my head I know I already want to give you guys all the celebrities we’ve seen from our CW Shows, and of course go through all our major superhero teams as well (Avengers, Guardians, Justice League, etc.).
Let me know in the comment section what you’d like to see first!
