Is it crazy that this will be our first Neon Genesis Evangelion inspired workout at SHJ?
Because I think it’s crazy.
While there were a couple options among characters we could have started with: Asuka seemed like the perfect fit.
We could use a few more female characters here at SHJ to begin with – although we are also seeing Nikaido from Dorohedoro this week as well – so when I get the opportunity to prioritize a character like Asuka it makes life easy!
She’ll join the tons of other characters within our Anime Workouts Database all also set us up for a new giant listicle I’ve been working towards with some of the most recent characters I’ve been bringing to the site.
Real Name: Asuka Langley Soryu
Weight: 105 lbs.
Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion
This height and weight range is for Asuka when she is 14 years old and is a guesstimate among fans.
That being said, when fans have done this in the past it has been fairly accurate!
Supergirl and Erza Scarlet were our shortest at 5’5 before Wasp came in at 5’4 and Kale, Anna and Nina Williams matching her there. BUT, now we have Caulifla at 4’8 and Sailor Moon at 4’11! Katana is just behind her at 5’2.
But the average height for female celebrities on the site is generally more-so ranging from 5’4-5’6 – and our Black Widow is just above that at 5’7 with Spider-Gwen, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy at 5’8.
But don’t worry, either way.
Not only are these routines for all shapes and sizes – they also work for both men and women – regardless of the gender of the hero.

Asuka Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hulk may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.

Asuka Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To get us started with Asuka we’re going to be pulling right from her Wiki Fandom to find out a little more about her.
Here’s what they have to get us started:
Asuka Langley Sohryu is a 14-year-old fictional character from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise and one of the main female characters. Asuka is designated as the Second Child (“Second Children” in the original Japanese versions) of the Evangelion Project and pilots the Evangelion Unit-02. Her surname is romanized as Soryu in the English manga and Sohryu in the English version of the TV series, the English version of the anime movie and on Gainax’s website.
As for her skills, goals, and occupation: I’ll actually be pulling them all from a secondary Wiki Fandom page.
Here’s what her Hero Fandom has to tell us about them:
- Occupation: EVA Pilot
- Goals: Defeat the Angels and Save the World
- Skills: Skilled Pilot, Fighting and High Intelligence
Now nothing about Asuka necessarily screams: “Build a workout around this character’s skills and abilities”, BUT her physique and appearance over time definitely give us something to work with.
For that reason we’ll be working around a Beginner-Intermediate Level and mainly working in a cosplay/aesthetic area when it comes to how we build out this routine.
There won’t be super high volume, but we will be utilizing weight training just because it’ll be easier to control the changes we make to our overall physique if we do so.
But don’t worry, we’ll keep it nice and easy and we have plenty of Calisthenics Workouts if you need them!

I’m going to give you 3 days of full body training which will be very beginner oriented, and then I’ll also give you some extra resources for if you want to add in some more training 2 more days per week with HIIT, Endurance or even MMA/Parkour!
