Tons of people cosplay How To Train Your Dragon.
Especially with Hiccups’ suits getting more and more awesome.
I get it. Everyone wants to work hang with dragons. That’s one of the reasons Emilia Clarke’s and Khaleesi’s cosplay workouts are so successful here at SHJ.
This week, after seeing tons of My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer and other anime themed cosplay workouts, I wanted to switch it up a bit.
For that reason we’ll not only be seeing Hiccup, but also Jessica Rabbit, who is a big name for the ladies out there when it comes to cosplay!
By the way, if you don’t already know, this is our new category that I announced I’ll be starting due to the high demand in cosplayers we have hitting the site, but it’s also an opportunity for me to give you secondary options to the main character workouts that will be slightly more generic and beginner-intermediate oriented; whereas the character workouts get pretty high volume when we begin talking about our overpowered characters!
Hiccup Stats:
Height: 6’1
Weight: 135 lbs.
Real Name: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Hiccup is actually pretty tall.
He falls in right around the average height among male celebs we’ve seen at SHJ, although he’s much lighter than most around the same height.
Vegeta were tied Wolverine for the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4.  Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Hiccup Diet and Nutrition
This is normally where (in the character workouts at least) I’d throw you guys a nice copy paster to give you some links to awesome dietary guidelines.
The celebrity workouts get their own custom planning based around what that celebrity does, but the characters are very contingent on specific goals/starting points.
The same is going to be done here, but I’m going to be making some changes to help you out a little bit more. So I’m going to start by suggesting what I think is the best Superhero Program for this cosplay if you choose to step it up a notch. Of course, you can really step it up a notch and join our Academy to get access to everything we have to offer, but if not, you might want to check out The Program Shop for other options or even take The Program Selection Quiz to help you out.
Either way, my suggestion would be:Â The Cut and Shred
Which brings us to our information from the character workouts if you’re looking to go the free-route (which is totally fine):
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!

Hiccup Cosplay Information (and Options)
Now it’s time to not transform your body, but rather your attire.
That’s right, it’s the NEW fun part.
As you can tell from the picture above (and throughout the article as well), Hiccup cosplay has a couple options.
You can definitely have some fun with this.
Here’s some suggestions, and I tried to diversify it:
The Good Stuff:
**These are not the budget options. These are from our friends over at EZCosplay and are NOT simply “Halloween Costumes” but cosplay outfits that are made to transform you into these characters.**
Hiccup Ultimate Variation (HTTYD 3)
Hiccup HTTYD 1 Basic Variation
Amazon Budget Route:
**These are budget options that are from Amazon and may be simply Halloween Costume items, but are also the top options we suggest from the platform.**
Hiccup Costume Variation 1
Hiccup Dragon Elite Costume
And there you have it.
Along with this killer workout I’m going to build for you to turn you into Hiccup, these are our favorite options for his outfit.

Hiccup Workout Routine Information (and Research)
So we have some more fun (although may not as much) in this section.
Here I’ll be giving you a bit of a bio and also utilizing what we’ve discussed in the section above (and some more) to break down what we’ll be looking to achieve with this workout routine I’ll be building for you.
So let’s start at How To Train Your Dragon Wiki Fandom with a bit of a biography for Hiccup:
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is the protagonist of the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. He is the son of Valka and the late Hooligan chief, Stoick the Vast, thus making him the heir, and later, the current chief of the tribe. He is 15 years old in the first film, Dragons: Riders of Berk and Dragons: Defenders of Berk, 18 to 19 years old in Dragons: Race to the Edge, 20 years old in How to Train Your Dragon 2, 21 years old in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, and 30 in the epilogue. His dragon and best friend, Toothless, is a Night Fury, the rarest and most intelligent dragon species.
He is also the boyfriend of Astrid Hofferson as of the Dragons: Race to the Edge, Season 4 episode “Blindsided” and is betrothed to her as of “Sandbusted”. Hiccup finally marries her in the final act of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, officially becoming her husband. In the flashforward that follows afterwards, it is revealed that they have a daughter, Zephyr, and a son, Nuffink.
And while he does have a much longer physical appearance description that encompasses the entirety of his character appearances, the first paragraph does a pretty good synopsis from his Wiki page:
In the first film, Hiccup’s appearance is very similar to his book counterpart. He is rather scrawny for his age, compared to the other Vikings, and isn’t very tall, being barely around Astrid’s height. He initially has little physical strength, as he has difficulty lifting a large standard battle axe handed to him by his father. He has bell-shaped auburn hair parting to his right with freckles on his cheeks and dull green eyes. One of his more unique traits is a small, white scar just below his bottom lip on the right side of his face, which he received as a baby the night Cloudjumper took his mother away, to the nest of the great Bewilderbeast or Valka’s Bewilderbeast.
Skipping down a few segments, they tell us:
In How to Train Your Dragon 2, Hiccup has grown considerably. He’s now the tallest of the teens at 6’1″ and his hair is slightly shorter and somewhat scraggly and unkempt with two small braids behind his right ear.
And finally, the finale:
In the epilogue that takes place about 9 years after the main events of the film, Hiccup has grown a beard. He also wears a fur cloak similar to Stoick’s, as well as the chieftain belt.
So, Hiccup as a character stays true to the skinny physique that he came into our lives with (which is part of the point).
That means we’re looking to slim down and tone up…and by no means gain weight or bulk. Â
If that’s your goal, we have over 500 other routines on the site that could potentially be better options for you!
The cool part about this one is that we’ll be able to do some fun things with it while keeping it to a beginner routine.
Part of these fun things is cardio conditioning which will go hand in hand with your dragon riding, and then even the incorporation of techniques used by horseback riders (like strengthening your core, hips, and legs with specific movements).

Hiccup [Cosplay] Workout
Training Volume:
3-5 days per week
Explanation:
We’re going to keep this one simple and fun, mainly consisting of beginner movements and cardio to slim down and become Hiccup; but I’ll also be focusing in on movements that benefit horseback riders to really get you in the dragon-riding-shape like Hiccup.
Difficulty Level:
Beginner
When we do our celebrity and character workouts we base the difficulty level off of their routines/their powers. For this one it’s just a judgement call on how I believe we can best get you looking like each character. For that reason I’m providing a level for each.
Want To Upgrade This Workout?
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & tradition pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
