There are so many incredible Animes to watch it’s hard to keep up.
And I was finally convinced I had to give Fire Force a shot.
Although I can’t say I’m surprised by how much I love it.
As I’m sure we’ll have a slew of Fire Force characters hit the site in the future, I wanted to immediately get us started by adding this Shinra Kusakaba Workout to our Anime Inspired Workout Database.
Shinra Kusakaba is technically a newcomer to the Fire Force team, but he’s our protagonist and it seems the perfect starting point for our future workouts.
Shinra Kusakabe Stats:
Real Name: Shinra Kusakabe
Height: 5’6
Weight: 147 lbs.
Anime: Fire Force
Powers: Yes
Shinra stands around the average height we’ve been seeing around our anime characters.
Although he is below average height when compared to all our characters and even our celebrity males as well.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Shinra Kusakabe Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hulk may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Shinra Kusakabe Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To get us started I want to talk a little bit about who Shinra Kusakabe actually is.
For that we’ll be pulling right from the full Fire Force Wiki Fandom.
Here’s what they give us for his initial biography:
Shinra Kusakabe is a Third and Fourth Generation pyrokinetic in the service of Special Fire Force Company 8. After his mother’s death, and supposedly his younger brother’s as well, Shinra joined the Special Fire Force to achieve his goal of becoming a hero, saving people from Spontaneous Human Combustion, and uncovering the truth behind his family’s death twelve years ago. It is later revealed that Shinra possesses the Adolla Burst, making him The Fourth Pillar.
And as far as his abilities go, they have a lot to say.
He does have a handful that won’t be relevant to what we can use in building our workout routine, but I do want to cover as much as we can without getting too crazy.
Here’s how they start it off:
Though a newcomer in the Special Fire Force, Shinra has posed a challenge to experienced members of the force and even defeated a Captain. Being a Fire Soldier, Shinra is experienced in rescuing people, and as such, was strong enough to carry four people out of a building before it exploded. While relying mostly on his Ignition Ability in combat, Shinra has exhibited skill in ordinary fighting, being able to pin an opponent to the ground and break their guard with a sturdy kick, as well as being capable of defending himself from ground-breaking attacks. Though break dancing is one of Shinra’s hobbies, he also uses it in combat, creating unpredictable movements and kicks to attack with.
Shinra possesses exceptional eyesight, having been able to spot things that other members haven’t been able to see at long distances. This was shown when Shinra identified the two White Robes that were sniping from multiple buildings away, as well as when he zoomed his vision in 2x more than normal to clearly spot an insect from far away.
A couple things we’ll focus in on there are:
- Strong enough to carry four people out of a building
- Skill in ordinary fighting
Some other abilities that he has are:
- Pyrokinesis
- The ability to ignite, control and utilize flames from his feet.
- Hand Signs/Seals
- His Wiki Fandom shares:
- Tora Hishigi – A hand sign/seal used for directing focus and power to his feet; this allows Shinra to use Rapid, which increases the thrust of his flames, giving him an exponential boost in speed.
- Corna – When Shinra uses this hand seal his flames manifest in an explosive nature, allowing him to attack with a lot more force.
- Adolla Burst
- His Wiki explains this as: “Having the Adolla Burst, Shinra can be temporarily empowered with the Adolla Grace through forcing an Adolla Link to a person who originates from Adolla, or someone graced.”
So what we’re mainly working with is building strength while keeping a lean and thin physique and adding in endurance training to replicate his ability to continue fighting for longer durations, and the optional martial arts training if you’d like to also add it in. One bonus will be some additional parkour to move like Kusakabe as well.
You think you can handle it?

Shinra Kusakabe Workout Routine
Training Volume:
5 days per week
Explanation:
For Shinra’s strength paired with his toned, but slim physique it’s a perfect opportunity for us to grow our Calisthenics Workout Database even more. We’ll be training with four days a week devoted to two different calisthenics workouts and then one day per week devoted to an endurance run. It’ll also be up to you to tack on additional mixed martial arts and/or parkour training which I will provide for you.
Explanation Part Two:
For those of you who may recognize this setup a bit: I’m using Stephen Amell’s Calisthenics Training as inspiration for this one due to how strong he was able to get while staying lean and muscular like Kusakabe. It will be entirely different splits and broken down differently (as well as different add-on training and formatting), but the movements will be there.

The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
