It’s time for some Yu Yu Hakusho!
Starting with Yusuke Urameshi’s workout.
For those of you Yu Yu Hakusho fans out there, you know that Yusuke is just one of the handful of characters we can feature here on SHJ.
So let’s hope this one goes well so we can see more and more!
We have our Anime Inspired Workouts growing on the site and driving our Workout Database forward, and Yusuke is a great addition to the list.
**Feel free to suggest some more anime characters in the comment section below.**
Yusuke Urameshi Stats:
Height: 5’8
Weight: 144 lbs.
Real Name: Yusuke Urameshi
Powers: Yes
Yusuke is actually fairly short. Not the shortest by any means, but definitely not tall.
Which isn’t exactly far from the norm we’ve seen among anime characters.
Vegeta were tied Wolverine for the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Yusuke Urameshi Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero, unless I mentioned differently (for example someone like Hellboy may get something specifically different)**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Yusuke Urameshi Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
For those of you who don’t know Yusuke Urameshi, we’ll start with a bit of a bio before getting into his powers and abilities that we’ll use to build his workout.
Here’s what his Wiki Fandom has to tell us:
is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series YuYu Hakusho. He is a Spirit Detective who is tasked with protecting Human World from various supernatural threats over the course of the series and his closest friends as well as greatest allies include Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei, Keiko, Genkai, Koenma and Botan. He is also the de facto leader of Team Urameshi and the general person to look to when the going gets tough.
At the start of the series, Yusuke is a teenage delinquent/street fighter with little to no positive qualities to his character. Over the course of the series, he starts becoming a better person, changing into an almost altruistic defender of the Human World.
And here’s what they tell us about his powers and abilities:
- Superhuman Stamina/Endurance
- Superhuman/Enhanced Strength
- Superspeed
- Superhuman Durability
- Power Sphere Fusion
- Spirit Awareness
Now these are some powers I am really excited to train for.
The combination of stamina/endurance and speed mixed with super strength makes it interesting to mix goals.
Top that off with the fact that Yusuke stays lean and rather thin (as opposed to a big bulky hero like some others we’ve seen) and we’ll likely be okay with using a lot of calisthenics work.
For those of you who are already scared by that, you can check out how to get better at calisthenics here.
We’ll even add in some parkour, which is another characteristic among many heroes and characters we see (whether they call it that or not).
So get ready for this one because we’re about to become a Spirit Detective.

Yusuke Urameshi Workout Routine

Training Volume:
5+ days per week
Explanation:
We’re going to be following a calisthenics workout 5 days a week which will jump back and forth in focus. Three days a week we will focus on calisthenics work and finish up with a high intensity circuit (as if we leveled up) and sprints, and the other two days a week we will focus in on endurance work while finishing off with a much lower calisthenics routine. The “+” you see is because I will also be giving you some resources for parkour and mixed martial arts if you want to add those in on top of the routine.
Want To Upgrade This Workout?
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & tradition pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
