We can’t have our Fairy Tail Inspired Workouts within our larger Anime Workouts Database without Zeref Dragneel.
While he was not named one of our most popular Fairy Tail characters of all time, he definitely is one of the most powerful.
We got a handful of new Fairy Tail characters hitting the site this week being that we rolled out our new Unofficial Fairy Tail Workout Booklet you guys have been requesting – and they’ve already been a huge hit!
And we obviously also need to step up our Fairy Tail Workout Placement Quiz and have him in it if he really is THAT powerful.
Zeref Dragneel Stats:
Real Name: Zeref Dragneel
Height: 5’6
Weight: 134 lbs.
Anime: Fairy Tail
Powers: Yes
Zeref Dragneel is right around average height among the younger male anime characters we’ve seen – although we’ve had some more coming in at a bit of a higher range.
And we’ve also had some absolute behemoths tower above everyone as well!
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.

Zeref Dragneel Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.

Zeref Dragneel Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To kickstart our research into Zeref Dragneel we’re going to be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page.
Here’s how they get started with his initial bio:
Zeref Dragneel was considered to be the strongest, most evil Mage of all time, who possesses extremely dangerous, and powerful Magic. He is the founder and former Emperor of the Alvarez Empire, under the alias of Emperor Spriggan, the older brother of Natsu Dragneel and father of August.
You read that right.
They describe him as “the strongest, most evil Mage of all time”, so we’re basically dealing with Voldemort here.
When we make our way into his powers and abilities section we’ll learn that they don’t necessarily translate that well to a fitness regime, but what we’ll do is go through them and then wrap back around and decide what we can utilize to go along with the fact that we’ll also be training to acquire the overall Zeref Dragneel aesthetic.
They start by telling us about his Black Arts:
Black Arts: Zeref was able to master Black Magic and brought countless Demons to life. His Magic Power is enormous; so enormous, in fact, that he cannot consciously control his own Magic, though whether this was always the case is unknown. Zeref’s lack of control over his Black Arts seems to come from his emotional state. He, himself, has stated that when he cares of the lives of others, his Magic becomes uncontrollable and randomly bursts outward, killing all those around him, but, when he no longer cares about others, he gains complete control over his Magic, and becomes the ruthless, cold-hearted Zeref spoken of in legend.
Then they bring us through a long list of other magical abilities, including his Fairy Heart-Induced Form, which they describe as:
Fairy Heart-Induced Form: Zeref, after activating the Magic of Fairy Heart, accesses a mode that he himself calls “surpassing a God of time and space”. In this form, he becomes fully white overall, with an intricate clothing design as well as wings. Due to Fairy Heart’s infinite Magic Power, he is able to control time and space, as when Natsu blew him back with a powerful attack he reformed his being as well as the area that was destroyed with ease.
Which finally brings us to a bit about some of the abilities we may actually be able to utilize (at least to some extent):
Enhanced Durability: Zeref is quite physically durable, as he was able to take a punch from Natsu Dragneel (no visible marks were left), and return to his feet, completely unfazed.
Expert Sensor: Zeref was able to sense Acnologia approaching Tenrou Island from quite a fair distance, as well as talk to Mavis Vermilion despite not being able to see or hear her.
Immortality: Approximately 400 years ago, Zeref successfully attained immortality, which is revealed to be a byproduct of him being cursed by the God Ankhseram with Ankhseram Black Magic. In addition, he is also unaging.
While we can’t train around immortality or the durability that they’re specifically referring to, what we CAN translate that to is overall muscle and cardiovascular endurance.
For that reason we’ll actually be using a fairly basic weight training regime by training 3 days of full body with weights per week to increase our muscle endurance, and then two days of endurance work to step it up a notch on that side of things.
So get ready for some volume on your training days, because we’re talking about an extremely powerful Mage!

For this one we’re going to be translating durability and immortality, along with Zeref Dragneel’s overwhelming power into strength and superior muscle and cardiovascular endurance. For that we’ll be utilizing 3 days of full body training and two days of endurance work.
