It’s time to train like The King of Stranglers!
Sometimes I have a hard time deciding whether I should be listing the “powers” section of our Kengan Ashura (similar to Baki characters, actually) as yes or no.
But if you’re a Kengan Ashura fan you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.
I just recently added a full Kengan Ashura Workouts Database within our larger Anime Workouts Database with the announcement that we’re getting another season on Netflix (and in turn, requests coming in like crazy for more characters).
So if you’re currently going in there and not seeing as many as our other mini-databases, just you wait!
Imai Cosmo is one of the most requested characters we’ve had, but I can tell you right now that Kanoh Agito and Julius Reinhold are coming soon as well.
Imai Cosmo Stats:
Real Name: Imai Cosmo
Height: 5’6
Weight: 150 lbs.
Anime: Kengan Ashura
Powers: No/Yes
Imai Cosmo actually isn’t that short when we compare him to other male anime characters.
We’d consider him around average height, although he is definitely dwarfed by our behemoths.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Imai Cosmo Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Imai Cosmo Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about The King of Stranglers we’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page, which tells us this about him:
Imai Cosmo, also known as The King of Stranglers, is one of the affiliated fighters employed for Nishihonji Security Services. He represented Nishihonji Security Services during the Kengan Annihilation Tournament.
When we move into his “Powers and Abilities” section we learn a lot more about who we’re dealing with.
Here’s how they start it off:
Considered a fighting prodigy, Cosmo is a practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu with a high level of agility due to his rather small and lightweight build. Despite his size, he is shown to hit rather hard, as Adam Dudley noted while fighting him. Cosmo’s physical and mental endurance is demonstrated when he tanked multiple punches from Adam, who is capable of knocking people out cold with little motion, and continue fighting efficiently. In the battle with Akoya Seishu, despite being bitten and tortured by Akoya, which broke his ribs and nearly his will to fight, Cosmo continued to fight and he defeated Akoya after an adrenaline rush boosted his strength and speed. Furthermore, after the battles with Adam and Akoya, which left Cosmo heavily injured, Cosmo could still move fast enough that Tokita Ohma could not hit him (more so due to the fact that Cosmo was predicting his movements via the use of his new-found Foresight ability).
Now obviously going and taking some BJJ classes is and being able to roll around with competition is going to get you closer to his fighting abilities than our training will, BUT the goal is actually going to be able to unlock Imai Cosmo’s:
- Shredded Physique
- Strength and Endurance
If we move onto the next parts of his powers and abilities section they finish up the first by extending into:
During the two months between the announcement of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament and the tournament’s start, Cosmo sparred against heavyweight martial artists three times daily; as a result, he is well-versed when fighting larger opponents. True to his status as a fighting prodigy, Cosmo is able to learn and implement new fighting techniques and applications quickly: after learning how to utilize his quick reflexes more efficiently after defeating Akoya and then awakening the ability of Foresight during the battle against Hayami’s Guardians, Cosmo was able to combine and implement these newly learned abilities in his fight with Ohma, enabling him to dominate Ohma in the early stages of their match.
Two years after the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Kazuo noted that Cosmo’s striking capabilities have improved drastically, being able to win a Kengan match with only a few blows.
And, as much as it may seem like we have more than enough, I do want to touch on the Foresight they mention above, AND his “Zone” ability.
Here’s how they break those down for us:
Zone is Cosmo’s key technique unique to himself. It involves discerning the 0.1 second interval when the opponent is completely focused on their attack. Once the timing is discerned, Cosmo then proceeds to move into the opponent’s blind spot and put them into a hold. This technique makes the opponent think that Cosmo has disappeared into thin air until he puts them into a hold.
Gainging Foresight after his match against Akoya Seishu, Cosmo began to develop the ability to predict his opponents’ moves in a way similar to Kaneda Suekichi. However, Cosmo can only predict 1-2 moves ahead (in comparison to Kaneda being able to predict up to 7 moves ahead). By combining this move prediction with his incredible reflexes and Zone, Cosmo is able to counter any moves that he has already seen before. However his Foresight is not an ability that can be used in any situation: when predicting a new move or combination, Cosmo’s reflexes are drastically slowed. It has been predicted that if he combines his Foresight with his Zone, he would become a nearly-unbeatable fighter in time, though at present his ability is far too underdeveloped.
And NOW we have enough information to move into the workout routine we’ll be using to step it up a few notches and train to become The King of Stranglers.
Be ready for high intensity and a ton of volume, because we have our work cut out for us.

Imai Cosmo Workout Routine
Training Volume:
5+ days per week
Explanation:
For this one we’re going to be working with 3 days of high intensity calisthenics and core work and then we’ll also have 2 days devoted entirely to endurance work and any additional mixed martial arts training you may be tacking on. That could be a class or using the additional resources I provide below (although going and learning in person will always be better). I’ll also be including a sixth day of training that will be our King of Stranglers Circuit Test to put our skills to the test weekly, biweekly or monthly.
