Next up among our Haikyuu!! Inspired Workouts is none other than Tooru!
Tooru is the third Haikyu character we have landing on the site behind Hinata and Kageyama.
He came in within the top five among our most skilled Haikyuu characters AND even on our most popular Haikyuu characters as well.
So, after seeing how many of you requested him, it was pretty easy to prioritize him as our next character.
And I’m even thinking of making the next three mini-databases featured on our Anime Workouts Database based around all sports themed anime.
Oikawa Tooru Stats:
Real Name: Oikawa Tooru
Height: 6’0.6
Weight: 159.2
Anime: Haikyuu!!
Powers: No
Oikawa Tooru is actually quite tall if we compare him directly to other male anime characters.
Although he would be just under average height if we compared him to male celebrities and superheroes.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Oikawa Tooru Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Oikawa Tooru Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Oikawa Tooru we’ll be pulling directly from his Wiki Fandom page, which leads with this bio section:
Tōru Oikawa, also known as Tohru Oikawa in the English translation. For the majority of the series, he was a third year student at Aoba Johsai High, serving as the captain and setter for the school’s boys’ volleyball team. He is the main antagonist of the Interhigh and Spring High Preliminary Arcs.
As of the Final Arc, he is a setter for Club Atlético San Juan, a professional team in the Argentine Volleyball Federation. He obtained Argentinian citizenship and plays on the Argentina National team as the starting setter.
This doesn’t tell us much about his abilities and skills – the main things we’ll need to utilize for this routine – but it does give us a good background as we move into more information.
When we move into his skills and abilities section we learn that his power level is 5/5 (as well as his technique).
They also start that section by stating:
He is most feared for his powerful and accurate jump serve, which he has honed and perfected from a young age. He can maintain a calm and cool composure during any match, no matter how tense it is. Despite not being considered a “genius” by mainly his coach and himself, Oikawa is a stunning player and one of the best all-around players in the prefecture.
From there they go on to say:
Oikawa’s talent lies in his natural athletic ability, his skill to make full use of his teammates, finding weaknesses in the opposing teams, sharp aims, and powerful serves. Within a short span of time on the court, he was able to point out that Tsukishima and Hinata were weak at receiving, and break Kageyama and Hinata’s god-like quick. This, however, is not without years of dedication and practices. His talent is widely recognized and is even acknowledged by Ushijima from Shiratorizawa Academy, who states that Oikawa’s talent lies in his ability to draw the full potential out of any team.
One thing I want to point out is that they make mention to his “years of dedication and practices”.
This routine will be built on calisthenics, and it will be built around an intermediate fitness level, making it easy for you guys to scale up or down as needed.
And if you really need to scale down even more you can even check out the Beginner Ninja Workout.
The main goals of this workout will be:
- Tooru’s Lean and Toned Physique
- Tooru’s Power Level (Strength)
- Tooru’s Endurance and Speed on the court
Be ready for some volume, but also be prepared to step it up a notch on your own if you want to really increase your stamina level to be anywhere near our Haikyuu!! players.
