Kengan Ashura is the hottest thing out right now, tied with potentially Castlevania.
You guys have been flooding the request form with more Kengan characters every single week, but we’re finally getting Kure Raian in the Kengan Ashura Inspired Workouts.
We actually have more characters from Kengan landing inside our calisthenics workouts than our weight training workouts right now, which is something we’re definitely not used to, but Kure will be evening it out a bit for us.
If that wasn’t clear: we’re definitely training with weights to accomplish these goals. It will involve high intensity and a lot of volume in order to get the absolutely insanely shredded physique that Kure has, so be ready to get jacked!
Kure Raian Stats:
Real Name: Kure Raian
Height: 6’2
Weight: 207 lbs.
Anime: Kengan Ashura
Powers: Yes
Kure is actually pretty tall, coming in above average among male anime characters, but still being off by about four inches for what we’d consider a behemoth among our Anime Workouts Database.
That said, his 207 pounds sounds about right for the amount of mass he has.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Kure Raian Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Kure Raian Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Kure I’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom, starting with his bio section here:
Kure Raian, also known as The Devil, is an assassin from the infamous Kure Clan. He represented Under Mount, Inc. as their affiliated fighter during the Kengan Annihilation Tournament and was one of the three assassins in the tournament. Two years later, he fought in the Kengan Association VS Purgatory Tournament, representing the Kengan Association.
This doesn’t tell us a ton about what we need to know to train like him, but it gets us started and I want to focus in on the fact that The Devil is an assassin.
We know that we’ll be training a specific way in order to accomplish assassin training – and we’ll pair that with what we need to do to accomplish his aesthetic and other abilities.
That said, we can move right down into his appearance section, where I’ll only be sharing the first bit, considering we have a pretty clear idea of what we’re working with here already:
Raian is a muscular man of above-average height. He has short, spiked light blond hair with a small widow’s peak and a notch on his hairline’s right side. As a member of the Kure Clan, he has dark scelera eyes. He bears a passing resemblance to the current clan patriarch, Kure Erioh, during his youth.
From there we’re going to be moving into the good stuff.
Kure Raian is extremely powerful, so we’ll have our work cut out for us, but I want to move down into his powers and abilities and learn about just how much we need to attempt to accomplish:
Raian is an absolute physical powerhouse—even for a Kure—and he takes full advantage of it with his ferocious fighting style. He is also one of a handful of Kure clan members in its history to have achieved the rare 100% Removal rating, though Raian is still immensely powerful without it. Kanoh Agito notes that Raian is one of two people that could match Takeshi in terms of strength, the other being Julius Reinhold. His strikes are described to be extremely heavy—his punches in particular—only being outclassed by Wakatsuki’s in terms of raw power according to Ohma.
This is an absurd amount of strength we’re talking about, especially considering we’re not looking at someone nearly the size of the other fighters he is being compared to stacking up against.
Julius Reinhold is a gigantic behemoth among our characters, and Kure Raian is being compared to his level of strength…
Skipping ahead in this section we can expand on that a bit more here:
Raian believed that there is no one he cannot dominate with pure physical strength. To that end, he rarely used the Kure techniques he learned prior to his defeat at Ohma’s hands, admitting that he was rusty with them during Hayami’s coup.
It is clear that overwhelming strength is going to be a big factor here.
From there I also want to discuss the fact that we will be needing to mix an insane amount of endurance in as well (which is generally not the best two things to pair together, but we’ll just utilize it as a win by allowing us to help us stay lean).
Here’s how they break it down for us:
Even without using Removal, Raian is extremely durable and has a staggeringly huge level of endurance, suffering only minor outward damage during his fight with Mokichi Robinson. Later, during his fight with Tokita Ohma, he was able to absorb a truly astounding amount of damage and easily return the favor, even after the latter tapped into Advance. During Hayami Katsumasa’s attempted coup against the Kengan Association, he was capable of surviving several direct hits from bladed weapons by the likes of two elite members of Hayami’s Guardians. Raian even got pierced in the shoulder by a crossbow bolt, yet none of those attacks significantly damaged him. Tapping into his Removal allows him to absorb even more punishment, seeing how he managed to withstand and even overwhelm Ohma in a berserker state from fully being consumed by Advance. However, Raian would not come out of that slugfest unharmed.
Even over two years after the Annihilation Tournament, his extraordinary durability and endurance is still as impressive as ever, as seen during his fight against Edward Wu and his “spares”, Solomon Wu and Fabio Wu. Though Raian was savagely beaten and knocked down several times, he managed to recover quickly each time and turn the tide of the battle with nothing but his psychotic bloodlust and Removal spurning him forward, much to Edward’s surprise.
Which gives us a pretty good idea of the three main tasks we’re going to be looking to complete.
The goals for our Kure Raian Inspired Workout are:
- Kure Raian’s Insanely Muscular and Shredded Physique
- Kure Raian’s Massive Overwhelming Strength
- Kure Raian’s Incredible Stamina and Endurance
As I think is pretty clear: we’re going to have our work cut out for us.
If you’re not at a moderate to advanced level of lifting you’re likely going to want to start with our Beginner Behemoth Workout before making your way into this one.
That said, you can start with any of the Beginner Workouts.

Kure Raian Workout Routine
Training Volume:
6 days per week
Explanation:
Kure Raian is not only shredded out of his mind, but also one of the strongest (not just powerful, but physically strong) characters in Kengan Ashura, so we have A LOT of volume to pull this off. We have seen volume similar to this from someone like Dwayne Johnson, using 5-6 days of training – but being more similar to a bro split (broken up into different body parts instead); but for this one we’re extending a PPL (Push Pull Legs) Split into six days. You can break it up however you like, but make sure to have enforced rest time (this can even be two days of rest in between your three day splits).
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
