We can’t have Big Ma in our One Piece Workouts Database and not have our full squad of Straw Hat Pirates, Jinbe included.
Well, sorry Brook, but it’s never going to happen.
If it’s not immediately clear, we’re definitely training with weights for this one.
AND, I’m also not going to be building it around sumo-wrestlers training because I want to make it feasible for you guys, so we’re going to be lifting HEAVY.
If that’s not what you’re into, then you’ll likely want to hit the calisthenics workouts and re-evaluate what you’re getting into!
Jinbe Stats:
Real Name: Jinbe
Height: 9’11
Weight: N/A
Anime/Manga: One Piece
Powers: Yes
Jinbe is definitely joining our behemoths inside The Anime Workouts Database.
If you don’t already know why we’re lifting for mass, you’ll soon find out more.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Jinbe Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Jinbe Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Jinbe I’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page, starting with his rather long bio section here:
“Knight of the Sea” Jinbe is the helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He is the tenth member of the crew and the ninth to join, doing so during the Wano Country Arc.
Jinbe is a whale shark fish-man and a powerful master of Fish-Man Karate. His dream is to fulfill his former captain Fisher Tiger’s dying wish of coexistence and equality between humans and fish-men. He was a member of the Sun Pirates, eventually becoming its second captain after the death of their original captain, Tiger. He eventually became one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, though he resigned during the Summit War of Marineford. Vegapunk later cloned Jinbe as one of the Seraphim, S-Shark, to replace the Warlords.
Prior to and amidst said war, Jinbe befriended Monkey D. Luffy, and two years later allied with him and his crew to prevent the New Fish-Man Pirates’ coup d’état against the Ryugu Kingdom’s Neptune Royal Family. Luffy thereafter invited him to join the Straw Hat Pirates, but Jinbe held it off until severing ties with Big Mom during the Whole Cake Island Arc. After staying behind in Totto Land to protect the Sun Pirates from Big Mom’s wrath, Jinbe returned to the Straw Hats during the Wano Country Arc, officially announcing his status as a member of the crew.
This doesn’t tell us much about what we need to know to build out our workout, but it does give us necessary information for Jinbe’s background (which is only fair to add).
When we move down into his appearance section we’ll skip his stripes, what he’s generally seen wearing, and anything to do with cosplay-oriented information, and instead just stick to his physical appearance:
Jinbe is a large blue whale shark fish-man and the current tallest member of the Straw Hat Pirates. He has a stocky build similar to that of a sumo wrestler and a face that is commonly associated with various Japanese demons such as the oni. His yellow eyebrows and sideburns are distinctly shaped like those found on such demons, in addition to a bulb-like nose and an angular lower lip pointing upwards. He has a lightning-shaped scar that can be seen from his left sideburn and reaching over his left eye which he obtained sometime between Otohime’s assassination and meeting Ace. He also possesses two tusk-like conical lower fangs associated with Oni as well; the rest of his teeth from the upper and lower rows are pretty much the same, albeit much smaller. He also has a severe underbite, which makes room for his huge fangs.
I knew the sumo wrestler comparison would come up, so I tackled that ahead of time.
When we move into his Fish-Man Karate we begin to learn a lot more:
Jinbe is an exceptionally powerful and disciplined master of Fish-Man Karate and Fish-Man Jujutsu with years of battle experience, which he can use to knock away many opponents at once and grapple with powerful enemies several times his size. He was a child prodigy, as he was skilled enough to become a black belt at a young age. By adulthood, Jinbe’s skill in Fish-Man Karate has become so immense that his strikes do not need to make physical contact with an enemy as the water particles in the air will blow them away a few seconds after the attack’s initiation. Another example of his strength and skill with Fish-Man Karate is that he defeated Minorhinoceros, one of the four Jailer Beasts who are Awakened Zoan Devil Fruit users, with a single uppercut. He easily punched Gecko Moria (a fellow Warlord) a few meters away, almost knocking him out. He also knocked out Charlotte Opera, an enormous man larger than himself, in one punch. Jinbe’s mastery of Fish-Man Karate allows him to affect all the water within his vicinity, including the water in a person’s body. With this ability, he can harm Luffy despite having a rubber body. He can also secrete water from his body as Hody did after overdosing on Energy Steroids.
They also go on to discuss more about his physical prowess, like strength, speed and endurance here:
Even for a fish-man, Jinbe possesses tremendous strength. Alongside Jack, he is one of the most powerful fish-men seen thus far, shown when he punched a giant fish-man up into the air, defeated a Super Rookie with one punch, caught a gigantic iron club with one hand, held up a falling ceiling, and grappled with Big Mom, an Emperor of the Sea who possesses tremendous strength and weight, easily throwing her over his shoulder. He easily defeated Charlotte Opera with just one punch. He managed to defeat Who’s-Who (a member of the Tobiroppo and a former CP9 agent who’s strength stated to be rivalled to Rob Lucci).
As a fish-man, Jinbe’s physical capabilities significantly increase when he is at sea. While underwater, he was able to bring a large, capsized ship to the surface, and while swimming, Jinbe lifted one of Impel Down’s massive entrance doors with little effort, using it as a raft to provide passage over the sea for Crocodile, Mr. 1, and Buggy with himself acting as the raft’s propeller underneath.
Jinbe has a massive tolerance for pain: not only was he one of the few people to be able to take a “baptizing” in boiling water in Impel Down without flinching (which is considered an impressive feat), he could also block a direct magma punch from Akainu with his bare hand, calm despite being badly burned, and took a direct hit from Akainu’s magma-enhanced punch, which brutally pierced his body completely, and his only reaction was to apologize to Luffy for allowing him further pain and was able to survive long enough for Law to operate on him. Oddly enough, he exclaimed in pain when bitten by Luffy, though this is most likely because he was prepared for Akainu’s attack but was caught off guard by Luffy’s bite and that it was more out of irritation than actual damage. At the Sea Forest, he blocked Luffy’s Jet Stamp without budging an inch. He took a hit to the face from Who’s-Who’s Gagan, which could bite through stone floors and flesh, and only bled lightly. Most notably, Jinbe even withstood a fiery sword attack from Big Mom on the Thousand Sunny that sent him crashing into the ocean and emerged almost unscathed.
Despite his large size, he is extremely swift, even on dry land. He could intercept an enraged Luffy whilst he was using Gear 2 (before the timeskip) and prevent him from further assaulting Blackbeard. He later prevented Akainu from dealing the finishing blow to the already fatally injured Ace. While rescuing Brook from Big Mom, Jinbe was able to swiftly grab Nami and Brook and escape from Prometheus’s explosion in an instant.
Due to him being a fish-man, Jinbei’s speed and maneuverability greatly increases when in water. He is an excellent swimmer, as not only did he manage to pursue Impel Down’s fleeing battleships, but he also outmaneuvered the incoming cannonballs fired at them by the Marines with relative ease, all the while bypassing the Sea Kings that infested the surrounding waters of the Calm Belt. He easily outsped the Caribou Pirates while carrying their captain, and quickly dived to avoid one of the Mecha Shark’s cannonballs while carrying Chopper, Bonney, and Luffy.
And there is the meat and potatoes.
It’s pretty clear what we’re working with now.
The goals for our Jinbe Inspired Workout are going to be:
- Jinbe’s Massive Aesthetic (Mass Gain)
- Jinbe’s Tremendous Strength and Speed
- Jinbe’s Durability (More Mass) and Endurance
This one isn’t going to be super advanced, it’s fairly easy to scale weightlifting, but we will have a bunch of volume, and some more advanced tactics you can swap if needed.
That said, if you want to start with one of our Beginner Workouts, the best place to start with this one would be The Beginner Behemoth Workout.
If not, let’s start training like Jinbe!
