We’re finally getting Vinland Saga in our Anime Workouts Database!
And who better to start with than Thors Snorreson?
Trick question, there’s no better option – and you guys clearly agree judging by the amount of requests we have for him.
We may not have a Vinland Saga mini database yet, but Thors will still make a damn good addition to our Anime Workout Placement Quizzes.
I was in the middle of binging some other anime I needed to catch up on when you guys were pushing me to get into Vinland Saga, and as usual, when I finally listened I was immediately hooked.
Now I’m excited to be bringing in Thors, but hopefully he’s just the beginning.
Which means if you want to see more Vinland Saga you better let me know!
Thors Snorresson Stats:
Real Name: Thors Snorresson
Height: 5’9
Weight: 187 lbs.
Anime: Vinland Saga
Powers: Yes
Thors is actually quite short overall, but tall if we compare him directly to other male anime characters we’ve seen at SHJ.
Although he’s obviously dwarfed by some of the monster characters we have in there.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Thors Snorresson Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Thors Snorresson Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Thors we’re going to be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page, starting with his bio, which they give us this for:
Thors Snorresson was a Jomsviking commander whose phenomenal combat skills earned him the moniker “Troll of Jom”. He was the son of Snorre and the father of Thorfinn and Ylva. Through his marriage to Helga, Thors was the son-in-law of Sigvaldi, the Jomsvikings’ leader, and was the nephew-in-law of Thorkell.
From there we can move on to his History, which is also relevant to how we’re going to be building out a workout around him.
Here’s what they share:
Thors was the strongest, bravest, and most well-known warrior throughout the Viking World. He was the only man who could beat Thorkell the Tall in single combat. He used to be a Jomsviking and through only strength of arms and ability in combat he got the rank of captain when he was still 25 years old. Sigvaldi, the commander of the Jomsvikings liked him so much that he agreed to marry Thors with his daughter, Helga.
On top of this we need to also take into account the fact that we know Thors’ 5’9 frame had 187 lbs of bulky muscle – which we’ll also be training to build.
We’re going to be going for an overall Thors aesthetic, so be ready to lift accordingly.
The last factor we’re going to need to add in is what they share with us regarding his abilities:
Master hand to hand combatant: Thors possessed a mastery of hand to hand combat unparalleled by any other character thus far and was capable of fighting against multiple opponents in a melee. In 987, he defeated Thorkell in combat and knocked him out despite being unarmed, whereas Thorkell was armed with an ax. Despite settling down to the life of a farmer in Iceland, his combat skills remained sharp, although how he maintained them as a well-kept secret. Thus despite not having fought actively since deserting the Jomsvikings more than a decade before, Thors single-handedly defeated one of Askeladd’s crews by incapacitating or disabling his opponents, including Bjorn. Despite this, he inflicted at worst broken bones and did not cause any fatalities.
We won’t specifically be training to unlock any of those combat skills, but we will be training to unlock the same hidden strength, agility, and overall stamina that Thors maintained in order to keep up with his skills.
For that reason we’re going to be prioritizing: Strength, Speed, Stamina and a Bulky Aesthetic.
That means we’ll be lifting heavy weights, but also fitting in some endurance work as well.

Thors Snorresson Workout Routine
Training Volume:
4-6 days per week
Explanation:
For this one we’re going to be using a “bro-split” that will revolve around our big compound lifts and accessory work to go with them. This will help us to focus in on strength and speed while getting the bulky physique like Thors. On top of that I’ll be adding in one day devoted to entirely endurance work (this is optional), and a Jomsviking Circuit Test that you can add on either weekly, biweekly or even monthly to test your skills.
Want To Upgrade This Workout?
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
