We recently had Shizuku join our Hunter X Hunter Inspired Workouts, but now it’s time for Machi to come in and join her as well.
They definitely aren’t our only Phantom Troupes members, but they are two of the most popular female members we’ve had join SHJ.
Our Chimera Ant Arc makes the power level and popularity shift among HXH characters a bit wacky so Machi doesn’t make it onto our list of the most popular Hunter X Hunter characters or the list of the most powerful Hunter X Hunter characters – but she’s still definitely a fan favorite nevertheless.
And, with the news of us getting more Hunter X Hunter, I’m curious if her popularity will grow even more as time goes on and new people start watching.
Either way Machi will be a fun addition to our Hunter X Hunter Workout Placement Quiz.
Machi Stats:
Real Name: Machi
Height: 5’2.5
Weight: 105.6 lbs.
Anime: Hunter X Hunter
Powers: Yes
Machi comes in as one of the shortest female characters we’ve had thus far.
We have had shorter, but she is definitely among the shortest.
Supergirl and Erza Scarlet were our shortest at 5’5 before Wasp came in at 5’4 and Kale, Anna and Nina Williams matching her there. BUT, now we have Caulifla at 4’8 and Sailor Moon at 4’11! Katana is just behind her at 5’2.
We had Wonder Woman come in standing 6’0 tall, Mockingbird and Hawkgirl at 5’9, Mystique, Miss Martian, and Sonya Blade at 5’10, and Storm 5’11.
But the average height for female celebrities on the site is generally more-so ranging from 5’4-5’6 – and our Black Widow is just above that at 5’7 with Spider-Gwen, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy at 5’8.
And, the tallest we’d seen before She-Hulk was Starfire at 6’4!
But don’t worry, either way.
Not only are these routines for all shapes and sizes – they also work for both men and women – regardless of the gender of the hero.

Machi Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Machi Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Machi we’ll be pulling right from her Wiki Fandom page, starting with her bio section:
Machi Komacine is member #3 of the Phantom Troupe. Her physical strength ranked sixth among the group.
It’s a brief bio, but it’s a good start to move into what we’ll be really working with to build out this routine.
If we move down into her powers and abilities section they start us off with a section for her overall power level:
Due to Machi being born in Meteor City, her existence is not recorded in any database, which makes obtaining information on her nearly impossible. As a member of the Phantom Troupe, Machi is a very powerful fighter. She has extreme confidence in her strength, demonstrated when she was willing to engage in combat with both Phinks and Feitan in order to let Pakunoda go to the hostage exchange with Kurapika. She also confidently told Hisoka that she would kill him if he ever managed to kill Chrollo. Furthermore, when Gon and Leorio couldn’t grasp the extent of her and Nobunaga’s strength, Killua compared it to that of Hisoka. When dividing the Troupe into groups to prevent Kurapika from killing them one by one, Chrollo placed Machi in a team with two out of the five members who had received a foreboding fortune and possessed abilities that were said to be invaluable assets to the Spiders.
Like the rest of the Troupe, Machi has superhuman physical attributes but has yet to fight with her bare hands (although the guard she used to defend against Killua and Hisoka suggests that she has some expertise in the field). She primarily resorts to using her threads in combat, restraining or hanging her opponents, or even setting elaborate traps. She is also rather observant, understanding that she and Nobunaga were being watched by professionals.
We are clearly working around an extremely powerful character.
And a confident one at that.
It’s fun having a character that we can build around both her incredible abilities and her overall aesthetic for our smaller females inside The SHJ Army.
Being a shorter guy myself, I’m lucky to have characters like Baki, Asta and Vegeta – so Machi will be a fun addition to our overall Anime Workouts Database.
If we move into each individual ability we learn more about how we’ll actually be building this routine:
Enhanced Strength: The fact that she ranked sixth in arm-wrestling within the Phantom Troupe is a testament to her brawn. She can easily lift several adult men, hung by her wires, and managed to immobilize a physically strong individual like Killua by wrapping her arms around him.
Immense Speed and Reflexes: A testament to Machi’s speed is first shown when she flawlessly stitches Hisoka’s severed arms in a matter of seconds, with her hands looking like a mere blur. After he unleashed his deafening howl and the other members asked why he didn’t warn them, Uvogin replied that they were fast enough to cover their ears before the sound reached them. She was the only one swift enough to react after Uvogin was restrained by Kurapika’s Chain Jail, throwing a Nen-imbued needle onto his calf to keep track of him. Most remarkable of all, she was able to notice that Gon was going to move, appear behind him, and put her hands on his shoulders before he could even catch a glimpse of her or make a single step.
Enhanced Agility: Machi can run on the sides of buildings and easily jump horizontally from one to another. She can also easily climb multiple floors of a building in a matter of seconds.
Immense Endurance: Machi is extremely resistant to pain. Even though Killua stabbed her in the chest, breaking some of her ribs and ripping through muscle, she still managed to restrain him while keeping Gon bound. Despite the multiple fractures, she was later seen moving, breathing, and speaking normally.
Muscle Control: Machi has excellent control over her muscles, preventing Killua’s hand from reaching her vitals and then keeping it in place. She seems to be able to close her injuries by contracting her muscles, with no blood appearing on her clothes even though her chest was pierced.
Keen Intellect: Machi managed to figure out the strategy that Hisoka used to defeat Kastro, proving herself to be quite intelligent.
Immense Intuition: According to Chrollo and Nobunaga, Machi’s hunches are often accurate. Her feeling that Uvogin was dead and that Gon and Killua were connected to the chain user proved to be correct, even when Gon and Killua themselves did not know about Kurapika’s involvement with the Troupe.
Expert in Stealth: Machi can sneak up on multiple enemies and kill them without being noticed. This characteristic is reminiscent of ninjitsu and suits her kunoichi appearance.
Now we know we definitely have our work cut out for us.
If you guys are looking for a calisthenics workout I would recommend going into our Calisthenics Workouts or even potentially taking on our Mikasa Inspired Workout (the calisthenics version, obviously) – but for this one we’re going to be working with weights.
The priority goals for this workout are going to be:
- Machi’s Petite but Toned Aesthetic
- Machi’s Enhanced Strength and Agility
- Machi’s Immense Endurance
We’ll also be adding in some extra core work and a bit of calisthenics in there as well to work around her stealth-like abilities and muscle control.
But the basis of this routine will be to get strong while staying petite and lean.
