Next up within our Dr. Stone Inspired Workouts is Magma!
Last week I mentioned that it was a close race between Magma and Kinro, but we’d be getting both, and this week I’m kicking us off by making sure we have them both.
Magma is known as one of the strongest characters in the village, and although he didn’t make it among our most popular Dr. Stone characters, he was an easy runner up.
We’ve seen some fun splits among our Dr. Stone characters thus far, especially with characters ranging from super beginner oriented all the way up to advanced with Tsukasa and Hyoga – so I’m happy we’ll be kind of rounding it off with Magma on this one.
Just as a note though: we will be training with weights for this routine.
Magma Stats:
Real Name: Magma
Height: 6’3-6’6
Weight: N/A
Anime: Dr. Stone
Powers: No
I don’t have a specific height for Magma, mainly because I can’t read Japanese, but I do know he stands a bit above 190cm, which is 6’2.
That being said, he actually comes in closer to being categorized as a behemoth within our Anime Workout Routines.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Magma Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Magma Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Magma I’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page starting with what they lead us off with here:
Magma is a villager from Ishigami Village. Magma is known for being one of the strongest warriors of all the village.
When we move into his appearance section they break that down for us here:
Magma is a large, muscular man with slicked-back blond hair that brushes the top of his shoulders, with a single lock falling in front of his face. He has thick, pointed eyebrows that are usually furrowed. His chin is prominent and he has a strong jawline. His physique is thick and muscled, significantly more than any of the other villagers, only rivaled by Tsukasa and Hyoga’s henchmen.
I cut a bit from it that was unnecessary, but I wanted to make a specific note to his overall aesthetic and how jacked he is considered within the series.
When we move down into his abilities we can actually start by talking about his equipment of choice: the staff!
Here’s more about that from his Wiki:
While he is first introduced as a staff fighter for Grand Bout purposes, his primary weapon of choice is a single headed axe, slightly larger than a hatchet, that he can use with one hand. In the second fight against the Tsukasa Empire, Senku gave him a katana that he lost when he bore the brunt of Hyoga’s Kan-Ryu spear attack. While the used Ginro’s katana to finish the fight, he afterwards reverted to his axe – it’s unclear whether the current composition is stone or steel.
We won’t actually be training with a staff, but I will be keeping that in mind for how we actually decide to build out this routine.
And I’ll definitely be prioritizing barbell movements over dumbbells and cables when I’m able!
Moving into his actual ability breakdown we learn more about his strength:
Magma has an extreme amount of physical strength and endurance, able to withstand a large flurry of attacks from Kinro in the Village Games and go on to win.
Despite his strength, he is inferior to Tsukasa, Hyoga, Moz, and Kohaku who easily swat him aside.
Surprisingly he appears to be skilled with math being able to give the correct answer in the mathlympics. This was met with surprise by Ginro, Kohaku, and Chrome, especially when Sai and Senku confirm that Magma was right.
One thing we need to keep in mind is that he’s actually not nearly as strong as some of the other characters we’ve seen.
That means we’ll be able to train around more of an intermediate fitness level, while still focusing on strength and mass.
So our goals for our Magma Inspired Workout are:
- Magma’s Muscular and Shredded Physique
- Magma’s Extreme Physical Strength
- Magma’s Extreme Endurance
So we still have our work cut out for us, but we don’t need to train at an elite level to try to accomplish it.
Be ready for heavy lifting and high volume.

Magma Workout Routine
Training Volume:
4+ days per week
Explanation:
To train like Magma we’ll drop down the intensity a bit but we’ll still train with heavy weights and a decent amount of volume. For this one we’ll be working with a four day split, and I’ll also be sharing endurance resources and even a Staff Fighter Circuit Test which you can complete weekly, biweekly or monthly.
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
