We’ve had our Street Fighter Inspired Workouts growing rapidly lately – but now it’s time to bring in a villain!
So next up on our list is the demon fighter: Akuma!
For this one we’ll have to be on a mission to master Satsui no Hado, but there will be much more than just that.
We have a ton of other characters you guys want to have added to our database, like M. Bison, Vega, Juri, Sakura and more – so don’t worry if your character isn’t here yet – we got the trend started and you guys clearly want it to keep rolling.
Eventually I’ll even get some fun lists up for you guys breaking down some of the most popular and highest ranked characters to go along with our workouts.
Akuma Stats:
Real Name: Akuma
Height: 5’10
Weight: 175-199 lbs.
Video Game / Anime: Street Fighter
Powers: Yes
Akuma is technically quite tall compared to male anime characters, although he’s much shorter than what we’d consider a behemoth among them, and I expected him to be even taller.
That said, his 5’10 frame and 199 lbs. shows just how much muscle mass he carries.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Akuma Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Akuma Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Akuma I’ll be pulling from his Villain Fandom page to learn about his background and abilities.
Here’s how they start us off:
Akuma, known in Japan as Gouki, is the secondary antagonist of the Street Fighter franchise.
He debuts as the final boss in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, a major antagonist in the Street Fighter Alpha series (being the main antagonist in Ryu’s and Gen’s storylines), and the secondary antagonist in Tekken 7. He is a powerful dark fighter, as well as the brother of Ryu’s master and adoptive father Gouken. He is the archenemy of Ryu, Gouken and M. Bison.
I also like going with our Street Fighter characters Hero/Villain Fandoms because they give us a breakdown of their powers and abilities and not just their skills as they pertain to the game itself.
When we move down into his abilities section they give us a large breakdown of what we’re working with for this one:
Akuma is an extremely powerful fighter, having become a master in his fighting style and being empowered by the Satsui no Hadōu. Akuma is knowledgeable in many powerful techniques, some of which are said to be able to cause tsunamis, split Ayers Rock in two, and kill in one hit. He also uses a number of variations on the moves often used by Ryu or Ken, though stronger and faster than theirs. The techniques Akuma uses include his Gou Hadouken, a powerful fire ball he fires from his hands, Gou Shoryuken, a powerful rising uppercut, the Hurricane Scythe Kick, a series of spinning kicks, Ashura Senku, where he glows red then “glides” around, immune to attack, (essentially teleporting), and the Kongou Kokuretsu Zan, where he holds up his fist, charges energy into it, and slams his fist into the ground, generating a shockwave of energy around him. However, Akuma’s most well known technique is probably the Raging Demon, where he glides at the opponent then grabs them and unleashes the sixteen hells upon their souls. But if Akuma fails to maintain a zen state of mind while performing this technique, it will backfire and turn the power of the hells on him instead. Akuma can also transform into a form called “Shin Akuma”, where he undergoes a drastic change in appearance and uses the full amount of his power.
They also go on to talk about Oni, which they state:
Akuma can also transform further by completely becoming one with the Satsui no Hadōu, becoming Oni. In this form, Akuma loses all remaining traces of his humanity and warrior code, crushing anyone who dares to face him. Oni is, without question and without competition, the single most powerful being within the Street Fighter universe. With strength and power so incalculably immense, other fighters outright fear him as a god. He is an unstoppable force of evil and destruction on a scale never before seen in the series.
Our workout won’t be equivalent to Akuma transforming into Oni, but we’ll shoot to transform into Akuma instead.
We’ll need to get fast and strong for this one, but also fairly massive like this demon – which means we’ll be training with weights to accomplish it, while throwing in holds and core work to get Akuma’s level of body control.
That means the goals for our Akuma Inspired Workout are:
- Akuma’s Massive Shredded Physique
- Akuma’s Strength and Speed
- Akuma’s Fighter Body Control
This one will be build around an intermediate level of training, but if you feel like it seems a bit daunting and don’t want to scale it down you can also start with The Beginner Behemoth Workout.
And if you were looking for a calisthenics workout you can go into our calisthenics workouts database or even head into the Street Fighter Inspired Workouts and sort by calisthenics!

Akuma Workout Routine
Training Volume:
4-5 days per week
Explanation:
We’ve had other versions of our Hercules workout (which is what we’re building off of) on the site before so for Akuma we’re going back to one of the splits that has worked extremely well for building Demon-like mass and strength for The SHJ Army: The Bro Split. We’ll be training 4 days a week with sessions built around our main compound lifts and then some extra endurance.
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
