I’m so excited for Bleach hype to finally be back!
We get to start bringing new characters into our Bleach Inspired Workouts now that you guys are flooding up the request forms with more Bleach characters again, starting with Gin Ichimaru.
We recently brought in another variation of our Ichigo inspired routines so that you guys have both a calisthenics variation AND a weight training variation, but Gin is up next among the requests.
With all the new releases coming out along with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War it has actually became super fun to be getting a slew of new characters and anime showing up again in the request form considering for a while there we were getting characters from the same anime week after week!
Gin Ichimaru Stats:
Real Name: Gin Ichimaru
Height: 6’1
Weight: 152 lbs.
Anime: Bleach
Powers: Yes
Gin Ichimaru is actually way above average height when compared to our other male anime characters (which tend to be below average compared to superheroes and male celebs).
He’s a handful of inches off of being considered a behemoth among our Anime Workouts Database, but still tall nevertheless.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Gin Ichimaru Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Gin Ichimaru Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Gin Ichimaru we’ll be pulling from his Wiki Fandom page, starting with his bio section they have for us here:
Gin Ichimaru was the captain of the 3rd Division of the Gotei 13 until he betrayed Soul Society, alongside Sōsuke Aizen and Kaname Tōsen. His lieutenant was Izuru Kira. He formerly served as the lieutenant of the 5th Division under Sōsuke Aizen and the 3rd Seat of the 5th Division under Shinji Hirako.
From there we can go directly into his powers and abilities which tell us exactly what we need to know in order to build out our workout.
BUT, before we skip to the information about his physical abilities (which are what we’ll need for this routine) I do want to make mention to the fact that they lead and go into the most depth about his genius level intellect.
That said, this is how they continue on about his strengths:
Master Swordsman: Gin is a highly proficient swordsman. In combat, he doesn’t seem the least bit taken back by the abilities of his opponent, even when they seemingly have an advantage. He fights with seemingly no effort behind his attacks, as he always wields his sword with one hand. His combat skills were evident even when he was a child. He easily defeated and killed the former third seat of the 5th Division, who by rank and age should have been more powerful and skilled than him. Gin was able to effortlessly keep the upper hand against Tōshirō Hitsugaya, a Shinigami known for his intellect and skill in Zanjutsu, during their battle. He can maximize the full lethality of his Zanpakutō’s special ability to kill multiple targets in one shot, allowing him to be quite deadly at a distance. He is able to mix extreme speed with a calm composure and precise attacks.
Shunpo Expert: After his battle with Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Gin uses Shunpo to retreat. He was also able to fight on even grounds and keep up with Ichigo while the latter was using his Bankai.
Kidō Practitioner: Gin’s actual skill level in Kidō is unknown, but he was able to teleport himself and Aizen a considerable distance using “Sentan Hakuja“. He was also able to cast “Hakufuku” on Rangiku Matsumoto, preventing Sōsuke Aizen from perceiving her Reiatsu.
Great Spiritual Power: Gin possesses captain-level Reiryoku. Gin, without any visible effort, easily incapacitated Chad, Orihime, Uryū, Makizō, and Ganju with his Reiatsu just by facing their general direction. His Reiatsu is violet.
Enhanced Durability: Gin is durable enough to withstand a direct hit from Ichigo Kurosaki’s Bankai-enhanced Getsuga Tenshō, only suffering a light wound to his forehead as a result.
Pairing with his swordsmanship they also go on to talk about his Shinso, which they do a better job than I will attempt to do here:
Shinsō: It looks like an ordinary wakizashi. The hilt is light-blue with a tsuba made of two slim swirls of metal looping around the blade to make an open oval, resembling an “S”.
That said, outside of his swordsmanship and mixed martial arts ability (obviously not factoring in the great spiritual power that we won’t be able to build a workout around for ourselves) the main physical attribute here is his durability, which isn’t necissarily the best for creating a workout routine based on either.
Which brings us full circle back to his swordsmanship, shunpo and kido.
Leaving us with the goals of our Gin Ichimaru Inspired Workout being:
- Gin Ichimaru’s Lean and Toned Physique
- Gin Ichimaru’s Swordsman Agility and Strength
- Gin Ichimaru’s Martial Artist Body Control
For this one we’ll be sticking to a calisthenics workout as we don’t have to tack on a ton of strength and mass to achieve our goal, but rather get strong, tone up and stay agile.
We’ll be building it around an intermediate level, but in a way that can easily be scaled down for beginners looking to start here.
Gin Ichimaru Workout Routine
Training Volume:
3-5 days per week
Explanation:
For this one we’ll have 3 fairly basic calisthenics (which should make it easy to scale if you’re a beginner), cardio and core days per week, and then I’ll also devote one day per week to improving your stamina as well as a final 3rd Division Captain Circuit Test, which will actually be a partner circuit; that you can complete weekly, biweekly or monthly as you please.
The Superhero Academy now comes with an Upgrade Your Workout Tool that allows Academy members to turn any SHJ workout into a 4-8 week fully planned regime detailing exact weights to lift and including reverse & traditional pyramid training, straight sets, super sets, progressive overload and more.
