We can’t fill out our Tekken Inspired Workouts within Hwoarang.
You guys have a lot of requests for other characters, but I knew we had to make sure we get in Jin’s rival.
It would be like having Ash without Gary.
Pokemon, anyone?
That said, Hwoarang is also a great character to help us bring in another calisthenics workout among our Tekken character; who have been super jacked and been leaving us no choice but to add a lot of hybrid and weight training routines.
Hwoarang Stats:
Real Name: Hwaorang
Height: 5’11 1/4
Weight: 150 lbs.
Video Game/Anime: Tekken
Powers: No
Hwaorang is actually extremely light compared to his fairly tall height range.
He would actually be considered tall among male anime characters we’ve seen (although not considered among our behemoths inside The Anime Workouts Database), but we’d expect him to be more around 165 or more.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Hwoarang Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Hwoarang Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Hwoarang we’ll be pulling from his Wiki Fandom page, starting with his short bio section here:
Hwoarang is a character in the Tekken series who first appeared in Tekken 3 and has returned in all subsequent games. He is the Taekwondo student of Baek Doo San, and Jin Kazama’s rival.
We also already know Hwoarang may be shredded, but he is fairly light compared to other characters.
That fits in even more with the fact that we’ll be working around calisthenics.
That said, we may not have a breakdown of his powers and abilities, but his actual in-game abilities surprisingly give us some decent information, starting with this:
Despite having a flashy and agile moveset, Hwoarang’s speed is quite average. He makes up for it with a powerful arsenal of kicks, and is rivaled only by Baek in terms of damage and range. His kicks are also relatively safe to perform punishment-wise, their only major drawback being their vulnerability to counters.
His punches are best used as quick pokes or something to keep the opponent in mid-air during juggles. The raw damage of Hwoarang’s punches is minimal, and they should be only used with good strategic planning.
From there they tell us a bit about his fighting style which really rounds it out for us:
As a Taekwondo practitioner, Hwoarang relies heavily on speedy, flexible kicks and, if allowed, he can easily keep his opponent on their toes and unable to retaliate. In terms of technicality, Hwoarang’s style of Taekwondo is modern and more akin to the style used by the International Taekwondo Federation, which is considered to be self-defense based, unlike the more popular World Taekwondo. Hwoarang is motion captured by I.T.F. 7th Dan Black Belt and lightweight champion, Hwang Su-Il.
In my opinion that makes our goals pretty clear.
The goals for our Hwoarang Inspired Workout are going to be:
- Hwoarang’s Lean and Shredded Physique
- Hwoarang’s Speedy Style (Speed Goal)
- Hwoarang’s Strength and Fighter Stamina
This one will be fun because we’ll also want to add in extra core and leg work.
Hwoarang clearly has shredded abs, and they made it a point to mention multiple times throughout his abilities that he relies heavily on kicks.
This one will be pretty intense, though – so if you’d like you can always start with our Beginner Ninja Workout and then move into this one once you’ve leveled up a bit.
