It’s time to get better prepared for our next season of Vinland Saga.
Our Vinland Saga Inspired Workouts grew quickly and now it’s time to get back to keep it going.
We’ve had some behemoths and we also had some smaller, more agile characters, and now we’re bringing in Garm to round us out a bit more.
For this one we’ll be adding another calisthenics workout in, which will also even us out a bit more.
So if you were looking for some weight training you probably want to hop into the database and pick from one of the behemoths.
Garm Stats:
Real Name: Garm
Height: 5’9
Weight: 154 lbs.
Anime/Manga: Vinland Saga
Powers: No
Garm is actually pretty tall compared to other male anime characters, but definitely misses the mark on being a behemoth.
Not only is he shorter than the 6’3+ range we typically see among our behemoths inside our Anime Workouts Database, but he’s also much more lean and slender than what we’d define as being within that group.
Wolverine was the shortest spot among comic characters we’ve seen at 5’3, prior to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming in at 5’2, (and Gimli even shorter) – but Damian Wayne (Robin) is only 5’4. Goku isn’t that tall either, though, standing only 5’7, with Miles Morales only an inch above him.
One Punch Man falls in at 5’9 right there with Ryu, Nightwing at 5’10, and then Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Green Arrow coming in around 5’11 and Beast joining them.
We’ve had Superman and Eddie Brock’s Venom at 6’3, and Captain America, Scorpion and Batman at 6’2, and Carnage at 6’1. Thor and Cyborg are towering over them at 6’6, Thanos and King right there with them at 6’7, Bane at 6’8, and Deathstroke right below at 6’5, and Black Manta at 6’4.
Ronan and Sagat are 7’5, and Doomsday came in at 8’10, and I doubt any characters are touching that anytime soon.
But, don’t worry if you’re not the same height or weight range.
We write these routines to be utilized by anyone and everyone.

Garm Diet and Nutrition
**Keep in mind: this section will be nearly identical for each hero.**
Every hero needs to still have a good diet.
Unfortunately we can train like them, but I don’t think any of us are suddenly getting their powers, or the ability to magically stop caring about nutrition.
You can’t out train your diet, so I want to still give some pillars for nutrition.
You can start by checking out The Nutrition Pillars on the site, but I’ll break down some more information for you guys as well.
Guys like Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart incorporate 80/20 dieting with big weekly cheat meals, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hopper, Benedict Cumberbatch and Terry Crews utilize intermittent fasting (something I use daily as well), Ariana Grande, Mustafa Shakir and Madelaine Petsch are vegans, Brandon Routh and Frank Grillo opt for paleo, and tons of others utilize their own variations as well.
It’s all about sustainability.
AND, there are a thousand different ways to reach your goals, so finding the most sustainable way is what’s important.
Which is why our Academy utilizes multiple different Nutrition Classes (Greek Gods, Vikings, Spartans, Hunter Gatherers, Monks, Samurais, Minimalists, SuperHumans) to allow people to choose what is right for YOU!
Curious where over a hundred celebs fall in their dietary choices ranging from High Protein and Keto to Vegetarian, Vegan and Intermittent Fasting? Want exclusive celeb meal plans? Check this out.

Garm Workout Routine Research
We’ve made it to “the fun part”.
And, if you don’t know by now, I say that every single time we get to the workout routine research section for character workouts.
To learn more about Garm we’ll be pulling right from his Wiki Fandom page, starting with what they give us for his bio section here:
Garm is a pompous and brash man looking for thrills in fighting. He is quite intrigued by Thorfinn due to recognizing his prowess in combat and possibly being the fight he so long sought after.
Due to his similiar love for combat, it’s been sarcastically implied that he’s Thorkell’s bastard son, however, his flashback proved that theory wrong since his father detested Garm for how he is.
His appearance section doesn’t tell us much that we don’t already know just by looking at the images of him here, but I still want to pull at least a small piece of what they tell us to acknowledge a very specific point.
They say he is a “young man of average height and a lanky build” emphasis on the fact that they’re describing him as lanky.
So we will still need to build this one out around his abilities, which we’ll break down in a second, but we need to make a note that we don’t need to be focusing on building a ton of mass while we do it.
To learn more about his abilities we can start by pulling the information they give us about his “Overall Abilities”, which are broken down as follows:
Overall Abilities: Garm is an extremely talented and skilled fighter. He showed his talent as a child by killing multiple armed men with ease by just using a wooden sword and then a spear. He is a very skilled and agile fighter, being able to hold his own against Thorkell despite the fact that he used a normal spear against Thorkell and not his custom-made spear. He’s good at noticing and eliminating assassins, is a efficient hunter and tracker, and can generally gauge a person’s level of strength and skill by their demeanor. He’s also good at spying under the enemy as he did so twice, killing Vagn, one of the principal Viking commanders, with ease. Even without any weapon at hand, Garm can disarm vikings barehanded.
He is clearly a very strong character, which is one of the reasons how he made it onto our list of the most powerful Vinland Saga characters.
That said, they also move on to more useful information about his speed, strength, endurance and more.
They start by telling us about him being a master spearman:
Master Spearman: Garm is a highly skilled spearman, being extremely proficient at using his custom-made spear which can be split into two, becoming short spears which he dual wields. Garm is wielding his spear with one hand and is such a natural at it, that Thorfinn felt as though as if he’s fighting an archer. Garm’s technique of using his spear emphasizes on range and agility. He can can mutilate body parts with his spear and is also able to throw his spear accurately, impaling someone’s neck. When using his “final” attack Beehive Thrust, Garm thrusts his spear multiple times at the opponent in rapid speed, further showing his spearmanship skills.
From there they get into the juicy details that we’ll actually be utilizing to build out our workout.
Here’s how they break it all down for us:
Enhanced Agility and Speed: Garm’s agility and speed are amongst the fastest in the entire series. He was able to easily catch up to Thorfinn despite the later saying that he can’t catch up to him without a horse. Even Thorfinn considered Garm and his attack speed as “too fast” as Garm was able to blitz and injure him while holding back. Garm can also keep up with Thorkell in combat, and they were too quick for even experienced vikings to be unable to tell what’s going on in their fight. Garm is so fast that he can dodge dozens of arrows with ease and run up the wall of a gate.
Enhanced Strength: Even as a little kid, Garm was already so strong that he could kill multiple armed adult men with ease by just using a wooden sword and then a spear, destroying the weapons in the process. When older, Garm is so strong with his spear that he can mutilate the body parts of vikings at rapid speed, as well as injure Thorkell, the strongest Warrior in the World.
Enhanced Durability and Endurance: He got beaten up by multiple vikings just before fighting Thorkell and didn’t seem to be in pain. When Garm woke up after Thorfinn headbutted him, Garm was more concerned about where his spear is, than the fact that his nose was busted and his face full of blood; not caring that he’s injured at all.
What we’re looking to accomplish here becomes pretty clear pretty quickly.
The goals for our Garm Inspired Workout are going to be:
- Garm’s Enhanced Agility and Speed
- Garm’s Enhanced Strength and Endurance
- Garm’s Lean but Lanky (Skinny) Physique
To do this, as I mentioned above, we’ll be utilizing calisthenics training.
I’ll be combining this with intensity training and endurance work as well to really give us a well rounded routine that covers all of Garm’s strengths while also playing into a cosplay-oriented workout as well.
If it turns out that this one is a bit daunting for you to start with you can also jump into The Beginner Ninja Workout and work your way up to this one.
